Cleveland Show-Shamone! [Do you find cartoon satire about MJ harmless, offensive or disrespectful]

Re: Cleveland Show-Shamone! [ Debate -Is cartoon satire disrespectful to MJ? ]

Despite knowing lupus detroys tissues in the body (in Michael's case nose and lips) and for obvious reasons needed reconstructive surgeries to repair the damage of lost tissue and showing comparative pictures that prove those alleged multiple plastic surgeries didn't happen you Hunterr dare to say he had much work done.  You're impossible!

But, he did. Your making me out to be a bad guy simply because I feel over the years, he had a lot of work done (regardless of reason).
You're impossible! Or whatever.

Re: Cleveland Show-Shamone! [ Debate -Is cartoon satire disrespectful to MJ? ]

I'm not saying he didn't have plastic surgery at all, he had but most of them were reconstructive. My complaining and annoyance comes from sensationalist media for spreading bullshit Michael had "tons of plastic surgery" to "change" his face and skin color and people in general who use these lies to ridicule and humiliating him publicly.

I guess in sense of humor is a matter of taste and it's quite common they make fun on those subjects I mentioned previously; however, I don't understand "the beauty" of mocking about such horrendous crimes like child molestation and child rape.

Re: Cleveland Show-Shamone! [ Debate -Is cartoon satire disrespectful to MJ? ]

Most comedians these days don't care about that. A joke is not intended to be serious, that doesn't make any sense. And they're not always going to be tasteful.

Like I said earlier, comedians make fun of things even dear to them. They even make fun of themselves and their own families, making up complete nonsense and making jokes that are completely untrue. South Park and Family Guy are both notorious for making fun of everything and even Isaac Hayes ended up leaving South Park when they made fun of Scientology, which Matt & Trey thought was hypocritical because he didn't leave when they made fun of all the other things.

I just try not to be offended by much, really. Especially jokes. I'm offended by war and suffering children, but when someone makes a bad joke I just shrug it off. No one is alike, we all disagree on something. I just find that getting offended gives me a negative energy so I've learned how to just not let it bother me. If it's untrue, it's untrue. What am I going to do about it anyway? They said it, it's done. Get over it and move on. That's what I think! And no offense. :D

Re: Cleveland Show-Shamone! [ Debate -Is cartoon satire disrespectful to MJ? ]

He didn't have "tons" of surgeries, we all know ONE surgery can change your face completely, him having two or three (referring to his nose, which is the main focus of his "change") might make it seem as if he had a lot when it's not the case, I'm sure because his features remained quite the same, as has been shown comparing numerous pictures from different years...so yeah, not funny no matter what way you try to excuse these comedians. :puke:

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

But, it's a satirical show parodying and lampooning a lot of things in pop culture. It's not supposed to be Full House or something.

If you're referring to Meg, then it's a long standing running joke of the show. The family is constantly berating their daughter. It's become laughable how they keep it up every season.

The show isn't saying "HAY, ITS OK TO CALL YOUR DAUGHTER UGLY, K."
Why would anyone watch an animated show geared towards teens and adults looking for respectful, politically correct humor?

She's animated, by the way, as are the other characters in this animated show. It's not to be taken too seriously. :)

those smileys are fun aren't they?

yeah..humor...let's u get away with a lot of things. that shooting in colorado was funny. somebody made a joke about it. one will always find something funny about anything. let's laugh at ourselves. hahah. some of us are better than others. we can distinguish. haha. nobody is vulnerable to going over the line sometime. haha. because we do it all the time. haha. eventually, we'll score a perfect record. haha.:)

the days of Bill Cosby...the comedian who could score without offending anybody, back in the day, and ended up with the most money making comedy, long running, in history..and the first of it's kind..followed up by many....are over. haha.

oh...just being nice is impossible, because then, Michael Jackson is god. haha. there can't be a happy medium, because it may cause cancer, burisitis, psychosis, and all around arthritis.

it takes a gargantuan effort to just be nice. :)

oh. it's a cartoon. so, it can't be taken seriously. haha. if it's a cartoon, it can't be for adults. haha.
abuse never comes, disguised as laughter. haha. :) :) :D

Wat?

I don't even know where you were going in your comments.
Who brought up the Colorado shooting?

I was talking about an animated show thats been on the air for years.

And if people like a comedian who isn't squeaky clean like Bill Cosby, they should be shunned or something?
It sounds like you just don't like anything remotely "not-nice" in your comedy or television.
Again, Family Guy is geared towards adults, not 5 year olds.

haha? :) :( :2cents:

everything was brought up. and maybe, at this point, ignorance is bliss. offence/no offence...it cost more money.

So I'm a horrible person for watching the show Family Guy and getting lol's out of it from to time?
Or for liking a comedian because they aren't nice?

i'm not making any diagnoses.
i might not catch the humor for twenty four hours. my internet is slow.

I can even ignore the plastic surgery jokes, but child molestation jokes are just disgusting. It's beyond me how someone can find this funny...

I'm gonna make a thread and a poll regarding the drawing of Michael Seth Seth McFarlane right now.

To me making jokes about conditions that affect human beings physically or psychologically is a way to support and encourage bullying and making jokes about crimes and disgraces is beyond distasteful, it's a complete lack empathy and respect.

One of the things i hate is when someone says something really disrespectfull about Michael and when you defend him that persons response is ''Stop treating Michael like he's a god''

So whenever i stand up for someone that means i see them as this perfect god with no flaws what so ever? That's just stupid and when these people say ''Stop treating Michael like a god'' it's like they are trying to make you feel bad about defending him

nooobody likes to hear this..but too much freedom is not good for you.
absolute power corrupts.
and humor is a way that people use to disparage, because it's commonly thought that that is the only way they'll get away with disparaging. and it's easy not to be offended, if you're not the one who the joke is aimed at...but i've never seen anyone not offended, when the joke was aimed at them. there are no exceptions to this super sensitive society..and quite frankly, that's good. it takes effort to look in the mirror and watch p's and q's...but restraining makes for better freedom, because there's more freedom in not looking over your shoulder.

That's up to you to decide, but if you honestly admit you get lol's out of the worn-out jokes about Michael, well I guess you didn't understand the man enough, reason why you can laugh at them. Like I said not me, but that doesn't determine who we are as persons, not bitter, not "downers" not obsessed or blind to anything, most of us just have different humor..thank you. But if you were the one making the jokes or if you've ever made jokes about him then, the question can be answered and it would be yes..Most people hate comedians who aren't nice, for example CR..he's a perfect example. I guess one has to have a very "particular" humor to like them.

I meant in general. Not about MJ.

Oh, and Seth's other 2 shows (American Dad and Cleveland Show) are radically different from Family Guy in terms of the humor and format. American Dad is dare I say more high-brow humor.

I don't know about that, I've seen a few episodes of each to form an opinion about them in the past and didn't laugh much, so to each their own. I was just giving an answer to that post of yours about being a horrible person for liking the shows. Which happen to include some MJ jokes in their repertoire occasionally, as I can see.

American Dad is soo good. Cried laughing so many times.

Anyway, what do you all of you think of THE SIMPSONS and EDDIE MURPHY? In general.

from what i have seen of the simpsons, i used to enjoy it. i didn't watch every episode, but i was sure to catch the one where Bart did the Bartman. and, Eddie, from what I've seen of him, i always liked what he did.

Despite of what I think of him personally, I like a lot of what Eddie did. The Simpsons are ok but not my fave.

I agree, the Simpsons are okay and I have a few laughs when I watch them. I don't enjoy The Simpsons as much as Family Guy or South Park. I enjoy watching Louie CK's show Louie, which is even more offensive than all of those shows. It's not animated, but it's definitely shocking and offensive and I don't think they have ever made fun of Michael or ever will.

Well like I say, "American Dad" and "The Cleveland Show" I find has mentioned Michael or use reference of Michael respectfully than "Family Guy", which is why I liked those 2 way better now.

The Simpsons was at it's best in the 90's. The first 10 seasons were great and better than South Park, American Dad, Family Guy and The Cleveland show put together in my opinion. Now a days The Simpsons are not as good as they used to be but i still enjoy watching them

I think it largely depends on the writer of that particular episode. They have a very large variety of people who write both shows. When I used to own the Family Guy Seasons 1-3 DVDs I noticed it was rarely, if ever, the same writer that wrote the episode. I think they let a lot of people come in and give their twist, sometimes they will be against Michael and sometimes they will be for him. They will probably sit at a roundtable with about 15 people or more and if a joke get's a generally warm reception, they'll keep it. Something like that..
