Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Regarding the media: it will always be about 'what is the bigger story' and 'where is the drama'. So MJ being 'not guilty', isn't interesting. Actually, even allegations towards MJ aren't that interesting, because we heard it all before. However, people exploiting the #metoo movement, that could be something new, something big. I think that is the subject that we should mention. Don't defend MJ; it won't work. Attack the accusers. Attack them for exploiting the current awareness about sexual intimidations. Attack them for being selfish, cynical people who are not just cashing in on MJ, but actually on every victim of abuse. That's a story that can run.

Nail on the head. We are living in a dark age.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

I disagree to a point. At this point, people either love MJ or NOT. Maybe I have more into humanity but I think most people are tired of it and most people do not like anyone picking on someone who is dead and not here to defend him/herself. To many, some here this and it will be "is this about money". We are fans and sometimes some of us go into orbit. I have been on this board since 2004 and I have heard all of the same thing from the trial in 2005, to the Wade coming out; James coming out; the Fake FBI report; the fake pictures they claims were found that was doctored up; the lawsuits, and now this. Yes, it makes me mad and I will spread the truth but I do not think this is the end all of MJ.

Yeah no.. most people dont give a damn.. for the everyday person, they dont think of Michael daily or even weekly.

Often because we make our world habe Michael envolved so heavily people around us are reminded about Michael more and it comes up in convos more often.

When we fans are not around, he is irrelevant to many peoples life. Though he impacted this world and entertainment industry, "they" dont appreciate or think of it that way. And when they do think of it, it's not this HUGE deal to them

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

What a coincidence...,

The documentary is the brainchild of Bafta-winner Reed, who has a portfolio of gritty films - one titled "The Paedophile" which aired in 2014....

By pure accident, shortly after Wade filed his BS claims, Reed made a pedo doc, then the case was thrown out..., Corey Feldman was begging for the support to expose real Hollywood pedos, and.... on the contrary... Reed came across the opportunity.... with co-founder of MeToo "movement" aka anti-rape/anti-pedo feminist media terrorists..... okay...

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Guys, we should move all the important comments or messages in the Thread about Wadeand Robson in Trials and Tribulations section.

Too many important comments and links are spreadiing into many threads and fading away, imo.

Stop Romanticising Elvis Presley And Start Acknowledging Him For What He Was

Elvis is just one example of a famous white male whose pedophilia has been clouded by his success and legacy; he&#8217;s certainly not the first and unfortunately not the last. The issue at hand is that much of the discussion around rape culture and sexual assault has been averted to the perpetrator and who they are not their actions and certainly not the victims who have been subjected to shame and suffering.

Brad Sundberg's statement on social media today was everything.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

What did he say??

A few words about the movie at Sundance.

I decided to not even mention the movie by name, but I wanted to share a quick recap of a conversation I had with one of my daughters about the movie.

Clearly there is a minor buzz about the movie, and she asked my feelings about it. I gave it a few moments of thought, and said something along these lines:

I wasn't with Michael 24/7.
I have never claimed to be his best friend.
I did, however, know him pretty well.

I also had very unique access to his personal space - meaning I have literally pulled speaker wires under his bed. I have moved boxes in his closets to install amplifiers. I have been in his apartments and hotels, setting up dance floors and playback systems. I have set up his personal lounges in studios - and maintained them. I have seen his books and magazines. I have seen his video collection. I have been places - private places - that very few people have been allowed to enter. This was part of my job.

The same can be said of many celebrities and non-celebrities I have worked with. There is a trust that goes along with working so closely with them, in the most private parts of their home.

You overhear conversations and comments. You learn how to make the client feel completely comfortable around you. They need people around them to provide services (in my case, building music and video systems) without the sense of being "watched".

I have seen and heard things in OTHER homes that were - for lack of a better word - sad. But not in Michael's.

Nothing.

Honestly, nothing.

When I started doing seminars about my work and friendship with Michael, more than one person mentioned the accusations - and "what if..."

My response was, and continues to be, if there was even a hint of concern that Michael somehow harmed a child, I would not offer my seminars.

Michael was a very unique person. I didn't experience his childhood, but I did get a very close look at his adult life. I did have remarkably comfortable conversations with him. I have heard him make funny comments under this breath - but never hurtful, never tawdry. Never.

It isn't my job to defend him, nor to get riled about a tasteless movie. But I can be one voice saying that over the course of my 18+ year association and friendship with Michael - being allowed into his more personal spaces, bedrooms, lounges, hotel rooms, cars, etc., there is simply nothing I have seen or heard to offer even a shadow of doubt in my mind. Nothing.

Was he perfect? No.
Did he make impeccable decisions every moment of the day? No.
Was there even the smallest of hints that he could harm a child? Absolutely not.

The movie will come and go, and along the way a few people will make some snarky comments on social media.

As for me, I will maintain that I am proud - very proud - to have worked so closely, in so many places, over such a long period of time, with someone I had so much respect for. I love sharing stories from the studio, tours and Neverland. I love meeting his fans, and re-uniting with old friends. I was blessed to have been a small part of his team - allowing so many opportunities along the way.

But mostly, I'm proud that we were friends.

I have taken a bit of time off from the seminars (completely unrelated to anything), just for a bit of a break. I spent this week on a Disney Cruise, so I am rested and tanned and very much in need of a diet - but the break is over!

I will be launching ticket sites this weekend for our 2019 events, and I couldn't be more excited.

We are working on a very special weekend in Detroit at Motown, and a large evening event in Belgium.

Plus Paris, Mexico City and Orlando.

Thanks for letting me share a few thoughts with you, and for your patience and kind words over the holidays. It was nice to step back for a minute, but I am excited to jump back in!

Have a great weekend, and I very much look forward to seeing you "In The Studio With MJ" sooner than later.

Brad

No need to bring Elvis into this. By Priscilla's own words they never had sex until she was of age. Elvis did not have a habit of going after teenage girls. He met Priscilla in the army when she was 14 and saw in her someone that could be his future wife. She didn't come to live with him until a couple of years after that with the permission of her parents. It was a different time back then. Elvis was not a pedophile.

I find it absolutely crazy that there aren&#8217;t more laws about defamation of the deceased! What a scary concept that is. Really interesting read above from Mike Salcombe and Brad Sundberg&#8217;s words are really beautiful - basically echoing the sentiments of everyone who knew Michael and spent time with him closely. It makes me feel so sad that there isn&#8217;t a way anybody has the power to put an end to this nonsense once and for all but the efforts of all here and social media is bloody awesome!

In the EU, there are such laws, at least when ruling on a case in 2014 ( Putitstin v Ukraine ) in which the applicant complained that his dead father had been defamed in an article, the European Court of Human Rights accepted that the reputation of a deceased member of a person&#8217;s family may come within the scope of article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

This is because the reputation may, in certain circumstances, affect a living relative&#8217;s right to respect for a private and family life.

In the case of Putitstin v Ukraine the applicant lost the case on the grounds that the impact on him was very little.

But with this documentary, there is a hope for something, Michael Jackson is global

Sony, R. Kelly Agree To Part Ways: Exclusive

Sony and R. Kelly have agreed to part ways, sources tell Billboard. The news comes on the heels of the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which detailed allegations of sexual misconduct against the singer.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

That article by Brad was fantastic to read. The fact that he did see "sad" things in other people's houses, but never anything at MJ's places says a damn lot. What he means by sad things I have no idea, but it's clear MJ was super clean or any of that.

Quite a few beloved celebs nowadays turn out to be scumbags to put it mildly and we never had any idea. MJ is the celeb that has been innocent all that time, but sadly enough he's the one that has been through the biggest shit you can imagine, and really, still is.

This makes it all the more sad and incredibly pathetic of Robson and Safechuck to f MJ over like this. If only everyone else would read this, especially before seeing such a trash ass documentary.

MJ was an eccentric but really nice person. He was a person who was easy to use and they did. Some other celebs has turned out to be real scumbags but they seemed so normal so they received good publicity, that is the irony and the tragedy...

Is it any wonder Corey Feldman's very life was in danger last year, he didn't get to make HIS documentary about the true monsters of Hollywood, while this piece of garbage does get a platform on a movie festival and on TV stations???

The finding of the truth is the very last thing they want, the wretched souls pushing this entire charade. They should be very careful about digging holes for others, cause they may end up in them.

Disgraceful. The synopsis says four hour documentary delving into the child molestation accusations against MJ, including accounts by two of his accusers. So to fill the four hours they will inevitably rehash the Jordan Chandler and Gavin Arvizo accusations.

BTW, there can be a connection between Corey Feldman´s attempt to make a documentary or a film about pedopfiles to the documentary about MJ as a pedophile, some jerks just used the opportunity to do something against MJ in advance and hide something really monstrous in Hollywood behind the media anti-jackson hype. It wouldnt be the first time they did this.

Lets recollect:

<iframe width="786" height="442" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/uL_mA9nZBDc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It was pretty disgusted on how Matt Lauer treated him during that interview.... and then Matt was busted a few weeks later. So he was on the defense.

Exactly. In fact some of them are still celebrated to this day and to my knowledge don't have this kind of witch hunt going against them, like Roman Polanski or Woody Allen for example. But because MJ was different, eccentric it makes him an incredibly easy target. It's beyond sad and tragic really. I am willing to bet there are some people working at/for Sundance right now that are total scum.

As Michael Jackson’s “imaginary widow,” my heart bleeds because even it’s been 10 years since MJ’s untimely demise, there are still some lunatics tarnishing his name.
The King of Pop spent more than half his life dazzling billions of fans with his incredible artistry. MJ’s legacy in the entertainment world remains unequaled. He more than deserves respect, even now that he’s gone.

It’s appalling how some people want to earn big bucks at MJ’s expense. Why can’t they just let him moonwalk in heaven at peace? These crazy haters ought to listen to MJ’s hits, “Beat It,” “Leave Me Alone,” “Scream” and “Childhood.” Hopefully, the message sinks in.

In support of my idol, I am printing an excerpt from ************. If you love Michael Jackson as much as I do, please spread the word and sign the petition. As MJ used to say, it’s all for love.
Here goes: The new petition online is titled “End the Defamation of Michael Jackson and Pronounce His Innocence.” It already has over 40,000 signatures. The petition reads as follows:
A documentary titled “Leaving Neverland” is planned to debut to 40,000 people at the Sundance Film Festival.
The film’s creators, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, filed two cases against the singer’s estate. They were dropped due to lack of evidence. They also testified under oath that Jackson never harmed them. Because of this case, Robson is bankrupt. The producer of the film is Dan Reed.
This film is based on the falsified claims of molestation by Michael Jackson. As his innocence was proven by a court of law and a 10-year FBI investigation, this is legally considered defamation of character. This mendacious documentary should not see the light of day.
We would also like to take this opportunity to recap on the online addresses you may need if you would like to complain about this documentary: Sundance (programming@sundance.org and institute@sundance.org); HBO (general@hbo.com) and CEO Richard Plepler (richard.plepler@hbo.com); UK Channel 4 director of programming Ian Katz (@iankatz1000) and coordinator Ethel Mercedes (emercedes@channel4.co.uk); and director Dan Reed (jojo@amospictures.co.uk).
