Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

I have noticed my local radio station has completely stopped playing Michael Jackson since about April 1st, not a single song. And this was a station that played him 2-3 times a day! Makes me sad. In Canada there seems to be a silent elimination of MJ since this documentary. It was a slow process that didn't happen overnight but more so gradually over March and April. Now I haven't heard MJ on the radio in 2 months, even Sunrise Records (our only record store thats open) has stopped carrying MJ. No public statement or anything, and when you ask them on Twitter they just ignore you. I went into three of their stores and literally not a single CD, vinyl, poster, or anything! It makes me really sad to watch this happening. MJ's brand does have a toxic appeal right now so many companies are just pretending like he never existed.
Well, where you are local represent the minority. Everywhere else, MJ ism played. And a commerical still have his/Jackson 5 song ABC playing.

I have read on twitter the replies to a Guardian's journalist question on how much MJ (and Kelly) have they heard recently. The vast majority has replied that MJ is still being played fairly well unlike R Kelly. But I did notice that many DJ's, theme parties organisers have replied that they have completely removed him from their playing lists and will not accept requests to play him. I don't know what will happen in the long run. MJ's legacy has survived but not without damage.
Wait a few month, those Djs will play MJ again. If they can play rap music despite what many rappers have done, they can play MJ who is innocent.

Another really interesting podcast by John Ziegler https://m.soundcloud.com/freespeechbroadcasting/2019-06-09-1-kevin-lipsey
Apart from the interview with Kevin Lipsey who was invited to play at a dance class Wade had last year, Dan Reed was filmning and Wade spoke really highly of MJ then the camera was of he has also had lunch with lawyers from the Estate and a well know talk show host connected to the mee to movement sent him a direct message thanking him for his work in defending MJ. He did not give her name.

That was incredibly interesting on so many levels. John Ziegler really knows how to get to the heart of issues. Great journalism!

The saddest part for me was when he was talking about the kids in the dance class that Robson set up for gREED to film.
No-one at this dance class (aside from Robson and Reed) knew the purpose of the filming. Mr Lipsey (the sound recordist) said:
'The kids were just glad to be in the room with someone who knew Michael Jackson'.

So heartbreaking that the band, Mr Lipsey, the kids in the dance class and their parents were all cynically USED in this way.

Just another way of getting at MJ fans I guess. Nothing is too low for them.

The other interesting comment unrelated to the Kevin Lipsey interview, was about the recent Variety article regarding 'MJ 10th anniversary cancelled projects'.
As John Ziegler says in the podcast, someone must have gone to Variety to deliberately give them that information...it's all part of a big agenda.

I think it was also interesting that some well known talk show host connected to the me too movement had sent him a direct message thanking him for defending MJ and he is now sure Oprah does not really believe in it and about his lunch with the Estate.

So now I am just speculating and one should be careful with doing that but I am wondering if the talk show host was Wendy Williams or is it possible that it was Gale King or somebody who did it in private since he is now also sure that Oprah does not believe it. Just pure speculation. Anyway I very much appreciate that he is willing to do this and also for free.

I can tell you for certain it is not Wendy Williams. Wendy was one of the first big talk show hosts to defend Michael after the program aired. It may be Oprah or Gale King.

I am guessing Gayle King or somebody else connected to Oprah who personally doesn’t like what they are doing then. I think Oprah herself contacting John Ziegler in private and thanking him for defending MJ is a little to far fetched.

I havent seen any mainstream media defend Michael. Saying "I dont believe this, but I believe this part" is not defending. Its playing the game to work both sides.

Its ALL BS. Point blank.. the few individuals that were gutsy enough to state so, THANK YOU

Cant look at John Legend, Ellen, Oprah (and many more) the same again after this. Good riddance.
At least with South Park for example, Its in your face.(Very rude and distasteful jokes against Mj) but you know what side they stand on. These people however are the fake ones who pretended to support MJ until it became inconvenient.

Time will fix this. In 1993 and 2004/2005 many stations also reduced playing MJ and even downright insulted him. After the dust settled though they always resumed playing him again. This is a temporary reaction in response to the METOO movement and the public pressure being thrown on companies or anyone high profile. Its a lynch mob mentality similar to the Salem witch trials, no defence allowed....accusations come out and its taken as the gospel. This too will change in time, it may even backfire completely.

As for DJ's refusing to play him, Im going to TWO weddings in September. I can't wait for the argument that's going to occur if they refuse to play MJ LOL. Im going to request it, and get all my friends to do the same. Hopefully things will calm down by then. If you want my gut feeling, I think it will take several years to get things back to where they were. Maybe even 10 years. But it will revert back to the talent. MJ is just too big of a star to be muted long term.

Very interesting!

I would love to know HOW Robson advertised for this "dance" class. I wonder if he used MJ's name, when advertising the class. I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, those children probably had no idea who Wade Robson is. In my opinion, he would have to use Michael's name, in order to garner any interest.

I know it's a long shot, BUT I wish one of the parents would step forward and explain as to how they came about this dance class and whether or not Robson used his past relationship with Michael as a way to promote this class. Because I really don't see folks just recognizing the name: Wade Robson, and automatically wanting to take a class from him, but if you add Michael Jackson's name to the mix, well then that's a whole OTHER story.

I don't think many people going to Glastonbury will care so much about LN that they would take the time and effort to make and wave an anti-MJ flag just for Janet's performance.

I wouldn't have thought so either but seeing people suggesting the idea on a Glastonbury forum did make me wonder...

Thank you for posting. it would indeed be interesting to hear feedback from Janet's set (and reactions from the crowd) at Glastonbury.

I will report back here after the festival :)

Hopefully, tickets are too expensive (£200 plus?) for too many idiots to have bought them...
.

It is completely sold out, as always. Let's just hope anyone who isn't there to see Janet is off enjoying themselves at one of the many other stages rather than going out of their way to cause trouble.

WannaScream;4259635 said:
Even if there is a negative flag they look insignificant and silly when everyone else is cheering. Glastonbury could be really good for the Jacksons.

That's true, they would look pretty silly. I saw the Jacksons headline Glastonbury in 2017 and they went down great, of course nothing has really changed since then except the release of LN its just that most people who have no interest don't realise that this nonsense has been going on for years. Although I did get a negative comment from someone in the crowd watching the Jacksons about MJ, yet he still chose to watch the Jacksons and sing along to the old Jackson 5 songs rather than go elsewhere which is a strange choice for someone who feels that way in my opinion

It seems to have been advertised as a 'JUMP' event. (JUMP' apparently paid the musicians.)

Wade has this footage on his vimeo. It looks like the same band. I'm pretty sure Mr Lipsey said the recording was made in Spring 2018.

At the beginning W says ' It's a live band, We are going to be jammin, playing off each other. It's going to be a lot of fun'. :( :mat:

Edited to add: Looks like it was held at the Hilton Atlanta in April 2018:
https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowU...577167528-Hilton_Atlanta-Atlanta_Georgia.html

We stayed at the Hilton Downtown Atlanta for the Jump convention, the room were nice, clean and comfortable. The staff was very good computers went down at the Starbucks which caused a huge line at the Starbucks which moved slowly. Everyone checked out at the same time which caused mayhem at the elevators.

and another:

Small Beds & Unprepared for Events
We stayed at the Hilton Atlanta for a dance convention this past weekend with mixed reviews.

This is obviously an older hotel in the heart of Downtown Atlanta. We booked a double bed room and were amazed at how small the beds were. These are definitely the smallest double beds I’ve ever seen. We were pleasantly surprised at the rest of the room...large flat screen, nice furniture, nicely decorated, and sleek fixtures in the bathroom. Really no complaints about the room itself.

The design of the elevator system is horrible. We waited 10-20 Mins each time we needed to use them. Also, the hotel was ill prepared for the events that they were hosting over the weekend. There were hundreds of families here in all day dance and training, so we were forced to use the hotel restaurants. All of which were severely understaffed. They were slow, customers were irritated, and their staff was overwhelmed and frustrated.

Conversely, we’ve been to a number of dance conventions at the Sheraton (right next door). They are fully staffed and prepared for conventions. They have ample options for all the hotel guests and as a result, they make a great deal of money when they host theses events.

So if you’re traveling for pleasure or business you’re probably good to stay at this Hilton. But not conventions...

Well, Wade came out with this trash in May 2013 so why is he praising MJ when in 2013 he called MJ a monster. Did he call MJ a monster to these guys when talking about MJ? I think not. So transparent.

Who is this Peter Andre I am seeing? He seems to be on MJ side but he should be sent the lies on this trash just to be informed.

At the beginning W says ' It's a live band, We are going to be jammin, playing off each other. It's going to be a lot of fun'.

Thanks for the information.

Two things I had to laugh about:

1. In Mr. Lipsey's video, it did not look like those young people were "jamming and playing off each other." Rather they looked lost and confused by Robson and his so-called dance moves. (That's probably why this little dance clip didn't make the final cut, in my opinion.)

2. Robson is going to be pissed when he finds out that Mr. Lipsey said he had no idea who Wade Robson was (until his friend told him). I truly believe that Robson considers himself a big relevant star in the world of dance and EVERYBODY should know who he is. Apparently NOT Wade!!!!!

Here is an comment from the interview Oprah has with the Central park five:

Santana said that when the evidence didn’t add up, she could’ve changed course but chose not to. “The moment the DNA comes back and it doesn’t match — nothing matches — this was her chance to take a step back and re-evaluate. That’s a pivotal moment, and she had the power to do the right thing and she fumbled

Hey Ms Winfrey, this was the SAME situation with MJ along with people ADMITTING they LIED on MJ on the stand and look at all the lies about W/J now. Trying to get PR now after the outrage. Oprah was no different than that DA. And I tweeted Oprah to let her know. Hypocrite. And the Central Park five is what you call REAL TRAUMA (not W/J) and yes, the Central Park five situation can be verified what happen to them with FACTS but people ignored it due to who they were. Same with MJ but MJ did not go to jail but you, the media, liars, etc bother MJ continuous to make $$$$$ at all cost.

Well ain't THAT something:

Robson taught 2 dance classes on the same schedule as someone teaching a Billie Jean/Michael Jackson dance class.

I would have thought that Robson would have been TOO "traumatized" to teach at a convention that also featured Michael Jackson's name. Then again, I guess he's only "traumatized" when the cameras are on. Got It!!!!

Oprah is about to get DRAGGED ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!! As a matter of fact, in some of the Urban/Black Community, it has ALREADY started.

After the young men were released from prison, Oprah interviewed the Jogger for a second time, and asked the Jogger "how can you NOT hold resentment after what they did to you? The Jogger said she was focused on her healing."

OPRAH IS A CLASS ONE HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!
