Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

So what's up with Oprah Winfrey SUPPORTING Harvey Weinstein?! Someone here wrote something of the sort in this thread (can't find it). Is that true??

If that is true, she better not say a WORD about this fairy tale film!!

I think that was more like an opinion than fact that she supports Weinstein but I don’t think she can be trusted and I don’t understand how the Jacksons could let her interview MJs kids after what she said during the trial. They were to little then to remember.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Hi, I haven't been in here in years. I've been trying to catch up on this whole mess, but (luckily) there's been almost no mention of it here in Norway.
I have some questions that I hope will help me understand everything a bit better. What are the main reasons/proof that Wade and James are making this up? I've seen the "they testified in court that nothing happened" reason, but I don't feel like that will get many, or any non believers (in Michael's innocence) to believe, as it's not really a proof of them lying now.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

He's trying to shift the blame on Michael so he himself doesn't have to take any blame for failing to be a succesful director or a son who would have cared for his own dad. He has a lot of guilty feelings and feelings of failure in him and he is trying to take out all the self hate on Michael. I guess in his minid, if MJ is made responsible, he won't have to be.
I think he also takes out her mother's high expectation towards him on MJ. Like it was MJ who pressured him to be in the showbiz (by telling him "be the best" sort of inspirational slogens that he kept telling anyone), when in reality it was his mother who insisted on him being a part of it since childhood.

As for a rebuttal documentary: I don't want to sound negative but I wouldn't get my hopes up at all and I'm really not sure what some members expect from it.

Even if the Estate/Taj/whoever could make a decent documentary who would air it? You may say the Estate can buy airtime, but
1) then it can be ignored as paid propaganda,
2) there seems to be a lot of money and interest involved not only in slandaring MJ but in shifting the attention from powerful figures' shady businesses - and in that case why would they give airtime for this?

And actually this shouldn't be the task of his nephew, not even of his Estate but of independent journalists, and they - with a very few honorable exceptions - clearly don't care, because if they did, they could have done this decades ago (and we wouldn't even be here now...). There's no interest in presenting the facts about MJ, even in respected media fact checking goes out of the window when it comes to him, as a result otherwise easily refutable false stories circulating since decades are presented now as truth.

And if some media person "wokes up" to the real facts suddenly finds himself/herself in a minority, and won't be provided the same forum anymore to tell a story that is different from the agenda.

Well, you are in norway, I am in sweden, if you have the way by, I can give a you full lecture in person on the subject :)

Meanwhile you should watch the 2 following videos below, or have you already watched them?

Oh, did you miss that the 2 comrades Wade and Safechuck sued the Michael Jackson estate for 1.5 BILLION dollars?$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (Thats a pretty BIG reason)

Safechucks civil suit was rejected by the court first, and then he joined in on Robsons civil suit.

When their joint lawsuit FAILED and was thrown out of court, they started the documentary project and have stated they intent to appeal the courts decision and think they will win! Meanwhile they are now doing a great job of swaying the public and try to put pressure on the courts to rule in their favour!

And of course they have media on their side, doing everything they possible can to put Michael down, recycling all the lies and false stories that has been repeated since 1993!

They gave also Babara Walters the oportunity to interview Tito and MJs nephews and she made a documentery who looked at the firsthand supportive for MJ but it isn't!

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

I've seen the "they testified in court that nothing happened" reason, but I don't feel like that will get many, or any non believers (in Michael's innocence) to believe, as it's not really a proof of them lying now.
But either way at some point they were lying, and it cannot be disregarded.

And yes, it's quite common for victims of child abuse that they don't understand first that what's happening to them is wrong (as abusers can be manipulative), or they even bury the memories of abuse as that's how they can cope, and it's not until when some triggering event happens that sheds a whole different light on the past, or brings out the buried memories. It's indeed very important to keep that in mind when dealing with abuse cases.

But the problem in MJ's case that there were already (at least) two very big triggering points: the first allegation and than the criminal trial a decade later. Prosecutors and media suggested that what had happened between MJ and kids was wrong, so Robson could reevaluate his experiences if any of them could be interpreted as sinister - but he didn't.

Also it's obvious that the idea of "MJ was doing something wrong" couldn't be a novelty for him suddenly in 2012.

Very good summaries for a start indeed.
(The second video made me feel a bit better actually, I guess because he took the offensive position as opposed to the defensive, and I needed that - even the cursing, I'm afraid :innocent:).

For me, this was the best part of Michael's Super Bowl performance. One of the uncountable ways in which he demonstrated throughout his life and career his advocacy for a global community, humanity, children, children's rights and children's welfare all over the world. Thank you, Michael!

The MJCast episode which was posted above is really really great!!!
I have begun to share it with many fans on YouTube.
They have besides Taj a professional movie director in it who saw "Leaving Neverland".
It gives much hope and strength listen to the epidode!
Now I know that Tajs documentery-series really will see the light of day!

Isn't Aphrodite Jones, or Diane Brown I believe is her name, the woman who made a career out of bringing Mj down and then flipped? Made a good career off the back of MJ

This is why I don't buy Robson and Safechuck's stories, and why people should be questioning this whole thing. For nearly thirty years Michael Jackson has been as synonymous with child molestation as he has been with... well, the Thriller video and the moonwalk. An entire generation has grown up hearing one-sided talking heads and crude jokes about Michael and "lol little boys". There's even a clip of Robson on Jimmy Kimmel and Kimmel makes such a joke right to his face. They didn't live under a rock; they must have heard such things very often. IF, and ONLY IF, anything happened, one would think they would have realized it a lot sooner.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

I completely turned a corner last night. After I read that garbage from the director hack about the death threats he's had.

I am furious now. Like he's actually slinging mud at me when he talks about 'the fans'. No way.

Also Taj spoke well. Was great to see. So glad I didn't think twice about donating my money when he asked.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Despite what has happened over these past few weeks I feel the fan base and legacy of Michael Jackson is stronger than ever.

Michael knew he would not be on this earth forever and he knew the world will still hound him even after his death.

He taught his fans well, he gave his life to his fans.. as fans of his it's now OUR turn to give something back to him and continue to support him and believe in him.

We have the opportunity to do something that Michael so mercifully failed to do, to spread the TRUTH to every corner of the globe....

THIS IS IT.

That woman just won't stop. Like I said, "Fatal Attraction."

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Isn't Aphrodite Jones, or Diane Brown I believe is her name, the woman who made a career out of bringing Mj down and then flipped? Made a good career off the back of MJ

Yeah thats her. Prob flipped back again who knows. Flip/flop depending on the wind

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Here in Canada I have not heard one person talk about this Mj stuff. I would say it's really quiet.

I guess we will see after it hits TV

I don't know why, but I get annoyed how nice the Jackson family is when they retort these allegations.

Just get mad. You have nothing to lose.

I don't think so. As far as I remeber Jones talked alredy very negative about Wade robson years ago. I think it was in one of the episodes from King Jordon Radio.
This will not chamge with no evidence in the new movie.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

There's even a clip of Robson on Jimmy Kimmel and Kimmel makes such a joke right to his face.
That was absolutely off-putting and uncalled for, I could hardly believe it when I saw it (makes you wonder if these people actually believe in MJ's guilt, as I doubt they would make these cheap jokes on child abuse so lightly if they really did).

On the other hand it must have been very unpleasant (and unfair) for Robson to endure these kind of situations, so it may have contributed indirectly to blaming it all on MJ in the end.
