Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Isn't Aphrodite Jones, or Diane Brown I believe is her name, the woman who made a career out of bringing Mj down and then flipped? Made a good career off the back of MJ

It was Diane Dimond, just tweeting about her new wannabe victims, Aphrodite Jones was a real investigating journalist maing a CONSPIRACY book about the trial.

What I pretty see disturbing is that Diane Dimond is consciously appealing to new fictitious victims for accusing Michael because its legally safe to accuse a deceased person and have no regal responsibility, which is far more easier for conspirators to play that filthy game, look at michael Jacobshagen

?? brilliant matt fiddes crying over a national enquirer article with all the crap he has sold to the tabs over the years. I guess hes upset cause they didnt pay him.we truely are in the twilight zone.made my day

Someone with twitter please point out his hypocrisy to him?

I've spoken one-on-one with Matt Fiddes and he told me that he has rarely ever spoken to any tabloids and that they just make things up when they don't get the responses they want.....take snippets out of context and go in a completely different direction, etc.

Sound familiar?

Body Language Analysis – Wade Robson on TMZ.

When providing details as to why this film was made, one aspect which really encapsulated my interest was Wade’s double shoulder shrug. The shoulder shrug often is a non-verbal signal of uncertainty, often unconsciously displayed and prevalent when you’re struggling to find the right words & is also seen in instances where you’ve no real confidence and conviction in what you’ve just said. Think of it as revealing ‘behavioural leakage’- should Wade have conviction in why he participated in this film, you should not be seeing in-congruent behaviour such as shrugging.

When Wade is pressed on why he’s doing this, he sends out a strong signal of discomfort with the prolonged temple rub. These types of dissipating behaviours are often prevalent when we feel the need to displace our discomfort via a comforting ‘touch’ display. I must stress that this action isn’t an ironclad indicator of deceit (research from Vrij/Ekman tells us that observing perceived deceit via body language is fraught with dangers and pitfalls) – think of this action as a gesture of discomfort.

Finally, when asked if there’s a comparison between R-Kelly and Michael Jackson, Wade again uses the same temple rubbing gesture to pacify the discomfort this question gives him. Wade tells us that “Michael is just not really my concern any more” which is a puzzling statement to give as if Wade HAD been abused for 7 years like he’s alleged, he’d be fighting tooth and nail for justice, not telling us that Michael is no longer a concern any more. Again note the shoulder shrug when Wade’s tells us that it’s actually about other people. As mentioned above, we use the shoulder shrug to signal our uncertainty or doubt, peculiar behaviour to observe during a ‘declarative’ statement.

So in conclusion, Wade’s repeated behaviour in this segment in the shoulder shrug and the temple rub – both gestures of doubt and discomfort. Not the actions of a man with confidence or conviction in his words.

I will review the Q&A in due course.

Remember, never discredit how much information your body language leaks without your knowledge.

Kind regards,
CJB

Neverland is Hard to Leave: Why Cancelling Michael Jackson Isn’t a Viable Option

The words “Michael Jackson” and “idol” are synonymous. Without a doubt, Jackson is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, musician of all time. For nearly 40 years, he dominated airwaves around the world, redefining pop culture. By the time of his death, it was clear to all the indelible mark he left on our society. With a carefully crafted image of a soft-spoken, shy, and generous humanitarian, Jackson was able to transform, seemingly overnight, into something of a mythical status. But the newest documentary has seemingly shattered that status, lifting the curtain on the Michael we thought we knew, revealing a much more morbid and haunted figure.

The documentary Leaving Neverland debuted January 25th at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, stunning the audience. The documentary centers around the testimony of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two of Jackson’s biggest accusers. With four hours of extremely morbid details regarding Jackson’s interactions with them, the documentary manages to effectively destroy whatever was left of Jackson’s already troubled legacy. Despite the documentary following closely behind the even more damning Surviving R-Kelly documentary, it wasn’t received the same. Jackson’s seemingly mythical status is once again acting as his shield, absolving him of any blame sent his way. But it’s time we understood that our beloved Peter Pan is not the person he thought he was. Jackson may have been a genius but he was extremely troubled.

In 1993 and then again in 2003, Jackson was hit with damning accusations of child molestation. The charges themselves were no joke and the allegations were career-ending if they proved to be true. 2003 proved to be his darkest moment when allegations resulted in an arrest and a full-blown trial. The entire world watched as America’s beloved icon was put on trial. In the end, Jackson was declared innocent and the entire world clapped, rejoicing in the idea that the star was innocent. But as the newest documentary proves, we were all wrong to cheer for Jackson and his apparent innocence.

The ugly reality is that Michael Jackson did not get off because he was innocent. Chances are, he was guilty of every single one of the charges and actually did deserve to pay for the damages he caused. The real reason Michael Jackson got off was because he was Michael Jackson, an icon who somehow attained a larger than life status that absolved him of any wrongdoing. And that is exactly why he can never be “canceled.”

As one of the most photographed and talked about entertainers, Jackson redefined what it meant to be a celebrity in the 1980s. With the help of his devoted, and at times overzealous, fan base, Jackson became larger than life, which played to his advantage big time as he found himself in court. Every single day outside the Santa Barbara courthouse, legions of his devoted fans stood outside chanting his name. Jackson used this to his advantage, playing up his stardom by waving, throwing peace signs, and even getting on top of a car and giving a “performance.” Using his innate charm and warm personality, Jackson proved to those inside and outside the courthouse that he couldn’t possibly be guilty of the charges being brought against him. His performances ultimately proved to be successful, as he was acquitted of all charges and sent home. Jackson once again proved to the world the true power of his stardom- he got away once again.

And nearly a decade after his tragic passing, Jackson has still been able to cling to his mythical status. The reception of the documentary proves this single-handedly. Those who have watched the documentary report the horrors it reveals, claiming no one will ever look or listen to Jackson the same way again. Some have even gone as far as to say that listening to Jackson may not even be possible after this. But the reality is that’s just simply untrue. The details in the recent documentary may be more in-depth and might be harder to ignore, but they aren’t new. We as a society have been able to ignore the allegations he faced in life and listen to his music, so why would a new documentary suddenly force us to change? Had these allegations be thrown at anyone else, the singer would be in jail and his musical career would be tarnished. But because we are dealing with Michael Jackson, the rulebook is different.

The reality is that no one wants to cancel Jackson because he is one of the few entertainers that belongs to us all. Everyone can remember the first song we heard from him, the first video he saw of him. But we are so caught up in his extreme stardom that he can’t separate Michael the person from Michael the singer. He may have been the greatest entertainer of all time, but he was still a morbid human being with a sick and twisted mentality. It’s time we as a society stop dividing him in half in an attempt to divert the blame. The man in the mirror is not at all who he thought he was and it’s time we finally understood that.

This student journalist should find a different career. We need better journalists for the future. Not people with stupid logic making unevidenced conclusions, such as stating that an actual criminal investigation, and trial, plus FBI investigation, and being found Not Guilty, is meaningless. Yet thinking 2 inconsistent guys talking into a camera to their friend and being able to say whatever they want and lie without risk of being sued for libel, because he's dead, is proof of anything.

Who ever wrote this is full of it. MJ was set free because he was innocent the testimony back his up. MJ was not "let go" because he was an "icon"; in fact, that worked against him in the way he was treated. I keep saying, I have never seen anyone who is accused of the same types of crime be treated the way MJ was treated (famous or non famous). If this was anyone else, you would not give a #$%. MJ going to jail would have been a billion industry. No one love him that much to let that go if he was an oz. of guilty.

I have struggled to get through this thread and catch up the last two days-I feel drained and as exhausted as I did in 93. I've been spending most of my time on articles similar to this that come over on my news feed since I have subscribed to "Michael Jackson' about 10 years ago. I've even signed up to sites like the Washington Post and the New York Times (anything non-tabloid), so I can argue what I know and support other people who contradict what is written.

I find it sad, sad, sad, that young journalists of today or the young social justice warriors are nothing like the people I grew up admiring in the 70's. When I came of age, everyone wanted to be a journalist because of the great work they were doing. Now it's only opinionated blogs and no research. When I was a teenager we had the Women's Revolution and the Gay Revolution and they were causes to be proud of, modeled after the Civil Rights Movement-that was still in progress. The #metoo movement has absolutely turned my stomach from the get-go, and I say that as a sexual assault victim myself.
Yes, it had the right intentions, but absolutely no common sense. This whole "you have to believe the victims" absolutely sicks-it just leaves the door open for liars, grifters, and extortionists.
Is everybody so insecure, that they have nothing in life, but to bring people down? And no one checks their stories.

Since they can say whatever they please about Michael now, and the dirtier and filthier the better, there is no stopping them until the #metoo movement falls and dies on its own sword, which I believe will happen. Michael has been muted before-it was never the same for him in the US after the settlement in 93. Yes, he was loved in Europe, and Asia, and South America, but the US he was still treated like crap. It's why the press ate up the Arvizo trial. Only in death, did that all fall away and people remembered that they loved him again, and they realized they didn't believe the accusations.

Now that this has come back, I think the Estate or Taj or whoever should find a highly respected investigative documentarian-who can put this case on display and should probably show it on Netflix-the next big thing. (like HBO used to be). Take a year if they have to. If it's done right, it will achieve the same results as Michael's death did-he can be resurrected and people will see the truth and love him again. If it's done right, nobody can come after him again.

The best part of all of this has been reading the comments on articles or even on YouTube. A lot of fighters out there, armed with FBI reports, court transcripts, depositions, interviews, videos. It's been amazing. Dan Reed, obviously after another BAFTA, has tried his pre-emptive strike by denouncing MJ fans as a cult or fanatics in his very first interview. Now he's saying they are threatening killers. All I have seen are very well informed, well documented people tearing him, Robson and Safechuck apart.

Her article was biased embarrassment to herself, "let go" "got off", I was disgusted reading it and have zero respect for her half assed "journalism", I tried to email her to correct her but the address given doesn't work, yet again when it comes to Michael Jackson every "reporter" reverts to an unprofessional sensationalist sheep

Aphrodite Jones is one of the good ones. And I agree it would be great if she spoke out about this in defence of MJ.

She wasnt until she flip floped onto mjs side during the 05 trial. She was one of his biggest attackers. Then as it was obvious which way the trial was going she turned. Prob saw an oppotunity to get a new "fan" base.

Fair enough. No one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes, she has owned up to hers. She has done a lot of good for MJ since “seeing the light” with interviews, her book, her crime doco, etc. She’s one of the good ones to me atleast.

I agree. Maybe she just hadn’t done research but then she understod that he was innocent she changed her mind.

Big friend of mine who's been a MJ fan and supporter all of his life went to a pub he always goes to and everyone there was on MJ's side. Definitely believe in his innocence and they say the USA is just a strange, strange place. It may have only been about 6 people but that doesn't matter.

If you are a journalist, it is YOUR JOB to approach any given subject objectively and from a neutral standpoint (as much as that is possible). Attacking Michael Jackson as viciously as she did from the very beginning was not a mistake. The word 'mistake' is used much too inflationarrily...

I'm glad I never even entertained the idea of buying her book.

Does anyne have any details about when MJ sued Diane Demon. Court documents or anything like it? Or how she was able to get out ofthe defamation lawsuit? It was when she was claiming about the video and using Victor GUtierrez as her source.

My mom and I have been laughing at the whole #MeToo thing for like a year because of all these ridicilous accusations that it has produced. All these people crawling out of the woodwork to try to make a buck or to get their 15 minutes of fame. My mom said it best when she said that "Who'S looking out for all the guy's rights? Who protects them from being falsely accused? Now it is the best tool for any woman to use as revenge or for blackmail! "If you don't give e that promtion or that job, I'll say you abused me!" And she said that guys will soon be scared of making ANY kind of move or compliment towards women because they will be scared of getting publicly lynched. She said "How will any guy be able to even ask a girl out anymore with all this #MeToo bs going on?!" Maybe the movement initially was important and did something good, but then it was like EVERY SINGLE PERSON was desperately DIGGING for ANYTHING they could use to say "OMG YES ME TOO!!". Like, all these women going to the media all outraged because "OMG THAT GUY ONCE LOOKED AT MY BOOBS 20 YEARS AGO!!!" and "THAT GUY'S HAND ONCE BRUSHED MY BUTT 15 YEARS AGO WHEN HE WALKED BY!!" It's like everyone is digging up anything from DECADES AGO, simply ridicilous things, just to be able to feel relevant and "included". And making "documentaries" seems to be the latest move. They take a couple of people who claim something with no evidence and then spread that around. It's like people forget a law exists and that it is wrong to publicly shame someone without evidence and we should let the COURT decide who is gulty and who isn't. That's what they are there for.

As for the "journalists"....being a good journalists would require a lot of work like going to college and then doing a lot of research, which takes time. The new generation grows up admiring "inifluencers" who barely graduated from high school and who got rich and famous by taking selfies and by lounging by the pool. That's their mentality and their goal: "Get rich and famous without putting any effort in it." Logic thinking is the kind of "mental gymnastics" they are too lazy to do. Or unable to do. And the rest of the reporters are just looking for clicks for their articles. The more shocking the better. It's really disgusting.

The article was written by Aneeta Mathur-Ashton who is a student journalist with a fierce passion for ethical and unbiased reporting on the Middle East.

This is the POINT, she is reffering to unbiased reporting about a very complicated region, but making such extremely biased article...

Clearly she does't know what UNBIASED or ETHICAL means....She probably should first study the MEANING of those big words.

Arranged by geller.that was it and hes made a carrer off it . Anyone who twitter friends with other wannabe mjs "friends" like terry george who claimed the same (the media twisted my words B.S but never stopped him selling numerous stories and giving t.v interviews) etc says it all.

Oh lawd...Matt Fiddes!! MJs "bodyguard". If that isn't an overexaggeration of the century, I don't know what it is! It's about the same as someone who met MJ once would claim they were "close friends" with Michael. Everything you wrote is so true, elusive. He was just basically carrying MJ's umbrella in Exeter and that was it. He was never MJ's REAL bodyguard, as in someone who travelled with him and worked for him for years like Mike, Alberto, Attila, Skipper, Yannick, Wayne or Bill.

I hear Diane dimbat is at it again she really pisses me off

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

I didn't follwed the Me too movement much but as far as I understood it, MJ is the first and only dead (absolutly defeceless) man who is accused of a sexual crime since this movement exists.
Or were there other dead men who were accused since the movement exists?

Its also interesting that MJ was accused since 2013 puplicly from Wade (and James) before the movement even existed and had its name.
