Dangerous Short Films are currently being upscaled to 4K on YouTube!

Bad (Shortened Version) It received a Full HD upscale, done by YouTube itself, like TDCAU.

Sony and the Estate are not involved in this.

Apparently, many YouTube videos are receiving this feature.

it‘s YouTube Super Resolution which will be soon applied to all videos in standard definition and is currently limited to 1080p, but soon expanded to 2160p

Forced AI upscaling is vomit inducing. Wow.

Edit: I've just seen TDCAU and it's worse than I thought. I guess that's something. Jesus.

Merged some threads. I think we can probably discuss the youtube upscaling related stuff here instead of creating new threads every time.
Took me a second there :ROFLMAO:

Can't fault the Estate for this one. Cheap and cheerful will satisft the general public. Many of whom do not understand what "quality" is on YouTube.

That DCAU upscale is terrible though, I thought the software would be at least better than that. All that lost detail.

well its just an experimental feature by YouTube, so just don‘t use it if you don‘t like it. It‘s not like the estate activated or manually did it, it‘s just a nice to have, not something to complain about
MJ took pride in the quality of his work, so yes it is something to be unhappy about.

I'm surprised at how poor the feature is - but then again I was kind of shocked at how poor Gemini is compared to ChatGPT so I shouldn't be surprised at all.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. They started doing this stuff with shorts a while back without even telling anyone lol. Not sure if they've since changed that.

I mean, in theory this has potential. Obviously, it really does depend on the source video. Garbage in = garbage out. The model will improve in time.

That being said, give us the real remasters. Thriller & Beat it were a good start.. they've had years to figure this stuff out tbh.

And they screened the remastered Thriller in IMAX in 2017. From then until 2022, they had that 4K version stored in vaults for 5 years until they released it for the Thriller 40th.

How long did it take to remaster Beat It?
