Estate Petition - IT'S ONLINE

One Night Only from the Beacon Theatre in New York. An absolute holy grail. Jeff Margolis says they got as far as the dress rehearsal and he done the blocking -mapped out how he was going to shoot it-, he also says that MJ’s personal tracks that were recorded with the orchestra so that he could use them to rehearse exist. So we could potentially have a dvd/cd set? That would be a special release.

We’ll probably get a five second clip of it on the future planned HIStory documentary.

Looking at a clip now on YouTube, there was stand-ins for “A” rehearsal. When I listened to Jeff Margolis on the MJCast, I was under the impression that MJ did a dress rehearsal. Anyone know if MJ did a full rehearsal?

@aazzaabb, keep in mind that traditional formats (like, Blu-ray) these days experience a sharp decline in demand due to the rise of digital streaming platforms.

Given also the fact that not many people these days own a Blu-ray player, it would be an unwise move for The Estate to opt for a Michael Jackson new release in a Blu-ray format.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus? And surely they could sell physical copies for fans who collect?

Um... That was my idea. ie they should release nothing.

The estate is so bad and releases such poor products, that it would be better for MJ's reputation if they didn't release anything at all.

Just let the existing material speak for itself.
Too pessimistic attitude. Estate are not that bad. They did good with Xscape

She Was Loving Me remix is the most popular MJ remix and one of the popular MJ songs nowadays. 2 years ago it was at it's peak in tiktok.

Modern generation don't watch movies/music videos anymore, they watch tiktok. And the fact that new unreleased MJ song become popular among new generation is fascinating

They have poorly conceived releases with poor sound quality. There's nothing to like.

I shudder when I think about those embarrassing stunts with Afrojack and White Panda. Or the fact they think it's normal to make people buy Thriller for a 4th time just to get 3 new songs. It's breathtakingly offensive.

A full album containing all unreleased material is the only type of album I would consider buying. But basically, I have self-respect. I gave them one chance and they abused it. Never again. I simply don't trust them.

Its just time to accept that Michael is dead, and therefore we are not going to get a constant stream of new material every couple of years. I may not agree with him, but it's Michael's wishes that all that stuff remains in the vault and is never released.

Since MJ filmed everything, I would love to see some behind the scenes footage of MJ creating his art, whether it's music or concerts or short films, or a combination of all 3. We saw glimpses of this in TII and it really was fascinating and refreshing to see MJ from that angle.
I agree! It would be so great to watch some more footage from studio recordings 😊
And all kinds behind the scene documentaries would be nice.

Will summarize here and then so my head doesn't explode. Tell me if something is missing.

Overview so far:

  • Behind the scenes/rehearsal footage from short film productions, concerts, studio sessions,...
  • Album releases with demos (demo state, acapella versions and finished mixes – similar to Xscape); showing the way Michael was working, maybe extra commentary from producers who he worked with
  • The Ultimate Collection available on Spotify
  • Shout and On the Line available
  • Releasing the demos of the songs that were on the MICHEAL album
  • With albums that have less material available they could go the John Lennon route and create a disc of Evolution Mixes, Documentary Mixes, Elemental Mixes, and Ultimate Mixes
  • A standalone concert on Blu-ray, or an entirely separate Bad Tour campaign featuring as many available concerts as possible, which might be an exclusive to the official website with a standalone concert or highlights Blu-ray sold everywhere else
  • Stripped back version of Invincible
  • One Night Only from the Beacon Theatre in New York

Sidenotes:
  • Modern generation don't watch movies/music videos anymore - tiktok
  • Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus - sell physical copies for fans who collect
  • Many new interested people expected after Biopic → material should be available in the best quality for new listeners/viewers

I think the sidenotes are important, too...what will convince them most is making money, so I guess we should keep that in mind. Focusing on things that many people will buy/watch/listen to, not just fans.

The currently released shows don’t show MJ at his best.

NYC 3.3 should be released for the Bad tour given how great the vocals were compared to the rest of the tour (higher keys & less playback too). Tokyo or Nishinomiya 1987 should also be released given the performances of about half a dozen songs peaked here (as well as arguably MJ’s performing abilities) & Pittsburgh seems solid too.

Monza 6.7 or Rotterdam 30.6 should be released for Dangerous due to the better vocals, longer setlist & higher keys (30.6 had the OG key for WBSS too). Tokyo shows also had great energy & ad-libs.

Amsterdam 8th or Bremen 6th should be released for History given how amazing the dancing was around then (especially for Stranger In Moscow & Billie Jean), how good the vocals sounded & some of the few shows with the full setlist. Taipei 18th would also be interesting given how energetic Scream was.

Would be nice to also have shows from early Victory, Triumph & late Destiny.

One Night Only rehearsals would be interesting as well to see the new routines & Smile/Childhood. This show might’ve also had the best performance of Billie Jean if it was sung live given how good the dancing was around this time. However I believe Jeff said they only got 20 minutes into the full dress rehearsal so who knows how much useable footage there is.

They are not that good either lol. I’ve not listened to Xscape in probably 9/10 years it wasn’t bad but I’d hardly call it good either. Not a lot of replay value in that.

Here is Bad Tour in HD petition from 5 years ago with over 10 000 signatures.

I'd like to summarise everything in the next 1-2 weeks and create the petition. So if anyone wants to add something, please do it 'til then, thanks 😊

Just summarized everything, thank you ChatGPT for your assistance 😃.

Not completely satisfied though, still needs more passion...and arguments for the examples. And arguments against the arguments from the Estate we already know ;). Will do that soon. If you have more ideas in the meantime, please post them, thanks!

Support the Release of Remastered and Unreleased Michael Jackson Material for Fans and New Audiences

Dear Michael Jackson Estate,

as the world eagerly awaits the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, we believe it is the perfect opportunity to honor his legacy by providing fans and new audiences with access to high-quality, remastered, and unreleased material. Michael Jackson revolutionized music and performance, and his artistry deserves to be celebrated with the best possible quality. We respectfully request that the Estate of Michael Jackson considers releasing more of his incredible material, for example:

  • Behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsals, concert recordings, and studio sessions, offering fans more insight into his creative process
  • Demos, acapella versions, and finished mixes of albums, similar to the "Xscape" album, showcasing how Michael worked and collaborated
  • The Ultimate Collection on Spotify, along with other previously released material like "Shout" and "On the Line"
  • Demos of songs from the "Michael" album and special editions with Evolution, Documentary, Elemental, and Ultimate mixes for albums with less material
  • Standalone concert releases on Blu-ray, including full tours of Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory
  • Stripped-back versions of albums like "Invincible" and rare performances such as "One Night Only" at the Beacon Theatre
  • Rehearsal footage, including the 30th Anniversary rehearsals and the performance of "One Day In Your Life" with Whitney Houston
  • In addition, releasing high-quality versions of iconic shows from early Victory, Triumph, and Destiny tours would be highly appreciated by fans worldwide

Many new fans are expected to discover Michael Jackson through the upcoming biopic, and it is essential that they have access to his work in the best quality possible. Physical copies, special editions, and remastered releases can help preserve his legacy and introduce his artistry to future generations.

Michae lhas always placed great importance on the highest quality ofhis productions. Therefore, it is especially important to carefully process the existing material. Fans are already trying to remaster some releases and are doing a very good job, which shows how much dedication there is. However, the Estate should be able to improve the quality even further because they have access to the original files. There is a lot of material out there, but the quality is often far too low, which isn’t good enough for such a big entertainer like Michael.
We want to make sure his legacy reaches as many future generations as possible, and that all the effort he put into his art is displayed in the best way possible — with the best quality for image and audio. People need to feel the passion, therefore quality really matters. If the material isn’t properly modernized, there’s a risk it will appear outdated as technology advances. This can lead to fewer people watching it because it no longer meets current standards. Good processing ensures that the content remains engaging and relevant, allowing his incredible work to inspire new audiences for years to come.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
[Your Name / Group Name]

P.S.: if there are any spelling mistakes, I will take care of that - I copied everything out of my desktop program and it just threw the whole text around...gotta love text formatting programs. My personal hell. Nevermind.

Don’t waste your time. Many before you have tried.
Unfortunately true. Estate (Branca) don't care.

Like I said before: I'd rather try and get nothing than not trying at all.
If you insist on doing something, you better contact Sony/Legacy/Epic. They want to release unreleased stuff (from their and MJ's vault), but were often turned down by B.

Thanks for your input. I never made a petition before, so the next step is to put more emotion and arguments in the text. After that I need a lot of input from all of you, like: on which platform to start the petition, who to contact, sharing it like crazy etc.

And I hope this will be good teamwork here, even if the chances are low. I count on all of you guys :giggle:

I love your energy :)
Maybe we really can achieve something?:)

One aspect of a strategy could be that we ask people to join who knew / worked with Michael and have the same wish to keep Michael's artistic legacy alive. Vincent Paterson, for example, or Siedah Garrett, just to name a few. Both seem to be close to the fan community :)

Great idea, if there are more, please add their names here and we can try to reach them. Maybe some people in this forum even have connections to someone?

I don't understand why they don't publish this stuff. I mean, they should at least be interested in making money, right?

Even when you look at the official MJ Insta-account, they often post photos and videos in the worst quality ever...I don't get it. I always feel like there is a reason behind this that noone of us knows. And I am really not into conspiracy theories or similar. But something just feels wrong.

What I would love to hear are the unreleased (instrumental) song ideas from his later years. May it be classical or pop/rock.

Maybe they could try to get those instrumentals into a movie (for the soundtrack). That would be pretty awesome!

news from the Prince Estate:
There's good news on the way for Prince fans who have grown impatient waiting for new releases from his fabled vault of unreleased music.

That's what Londell McMillan of Prince Legacy LLC announced Saturday during this year's edition of the annual Prince Celebration, which took place in Minneapolis and at the late artist's nearby Paisley Park entertainment complex.

According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, McMillan said a boxed set edition of 1985's Around the World in a Day is on the way.

Vinyl editions of the last two albums Prince released during his lifetime - 2015's Hit n Run Phase One and Hit n Run Phase Two - are also in the works. The estate kicked off the weekend activities by releasing a new acoustic version of "Free," from 1982's 1999.

Looking a bit further ahead, The Purple Stream reported that McMillan noted, "Next year is 2026 so everyone is going to see something from Parade." The 1986 album was home to the chart-topping smash "Kiss."

Seeing many discussions about the Estate the last weeks, I thought we could take the energy we use for ranting and put it into creating a petition  - positive vibes and so on.

I know the probability to achieve something with this is very low BUT we can at least try.

My idea is, to create a list of what we would like to have released in the next years, get a lot of people to sign the petition, share everything on several social media platforms and send it to the Estate, of course.

Please don't use this thread to discuss about the Estate or to point out that it is senseless - I would like you post your ⭐ personal wishlists *yay, Christmas* ⭐in this thread so we can create the petition afterwards.

For example, I would like to have some concerts in high quality and demo releases (maybe like they did on Xscape: demo-version and finished song, acapella stuff from studio recording sessions would be sooo cool, too 😭).

Please post your ideas and let's be so annoying that they don't have any other chance than to fulfill our wishes 🙌.

Thank you in advance for participating 🥳 DO add the tours ( Bad, Dangerous, and History Tours on DVD and Blu-ray.
