Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael"/ Excerpt @pg151/New Interview Post 3743

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011 / Excerpt posted at @pg151

It's entirely possible to read this book while still keeping in mind that that is his version of events. Not sure why it seems so difficult to understand that. And lastly it's also not up to us to 'judge' anyone's relationships, the final 'tally' is always between those involved. That doesn't mean thoughts about it can't be shared. That's all.

Honestly, the stories told are not humiliating Michael in any way. He could have written much more revealing. Not sure why it's such a brouhaha to write that he kissed a fan somewhere. It's amazing that there are entire threads on this board that deal with every image of Michael kissing children, fans and others- but someone acknowledging him kissing someone is sudden betrayal. My head spins.

Frank Cascio 'My Friend Michael': Michael Jackson's Friend Reveals Intimate Stories In New Book

Frank Cascio met Michael Jackson in 1984, when the King of Pop was at the peak of his career. For the next 25 years Cascio and his family traveled the world with the superstar. When he was 18, Cascio became Jackson's assistant and then went on to manage the star.

In the new book "My Friend Michael," Cascio writes honestly and candidly of his long relationship with Jackson, including sticking by him during some dark periods like Jackson's child molestation charges and prescription drug use. It's a fascinating glimpse into Jackson's world and what emerges is a new, unexplored side to the entertainer -- a surprisingly sweet and normal version of the controversial star.

How did you meet Michael?

When I was four years old, my father was the general manager of the Helmsley Palace in New York and Michael became very friendly with my father. After they established a relationship, Michael wanted to meet the rest of the family, so one day my father took me to work to meet him. I had no idea who he was.

Your family became very close with Michael. You and your brother went on tour with him and your family celebrated holidays with him. How did your personal relationship with him grow?

We established a real friendship. We became a big family; Michael was a part of our family. Every Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthday -- we made a point to celebrate together. It became tradition for all of us.

You went to work for him when you were 18 and you write that you witnessed some of his problems with pills.

There were times. When I first started working with him, in Munich, he fell 50 feet [when] there was a mishap during a concert. That took a tremendous toll on his back. When you're in pain, doctors give you medication. There were times when I was a bit concerned. I definitely witnessed some of it but it wasn't a constant pattern -- I want to make that clear. It was based on what was going on in his life, his schedules, but yes, there were times when I was concerned.

His family tried to stage an intervention.

Yes, there was a time when his family wanted to speak with him. Michael just didn't want to have any conversations about it.

How did the first molestation charges against Michael affect him?

That really, really hurt him because he was falsely accused of something he did not do. It really comes down to [Jordy Chandler's] family's manipulation and the father's jealousy. It was really sad. The whole world got a false impression of Michael. Something that was so beautiful -- Michael's innocence and affection for children -- got completely turned around. He was so passionate about helping kids and it was turned around and used against him.

You and your brother slept in his room hundreds of times.

There was nothing sexual about it at all.

But now as an adult, do you realize it wasn't normal behavior?

From the outside looking in, I completely understand how people might think that's strange or weird or inappropriate. I can absolutely see that side of it, but it was a different situation. Michael was a different person. You can't compare Michael to anyone else in this world because he sincerely was a child at heart. He was truly a special individual. But I can tell you there was never anything inappropriate. He had no sexual attraction to children. Children were his inspiration.

You write that he once had a fling with a fan.

He was very flirtatious with fans. I remember once seeing him in the back of a car kissing a fan.

Even though you two were extraordinarily close, you also had a falling out with him. What happened?

It was due to a lack of communication during the second [molestation] trial. Michael was told false information that I did not wish to testify on his behalf -- which really hurt him -- and that was never ever the case. I was more than willing to testify on Michael's behalf. I was an unindicted co-conspirator, so we were legally not allowed to be in constant communication. There was a lot of jealousy on behalf of the people who were working with him at the time. They didn't want me back and they tried everything in their power to make sure I did not get back and start working with Michael again. It really hurt because I would do anything for Michael.

You say that at the end of his life, he acknowledged his perilous financial situation.

He acknowledged to me that things had to change and we were in the process of putting an incredible machine in place with great people to turn everything around. At one point he had some bad advisors advising him. I'm very happy that John Branca is one of the trustees [of Jackson's trust] because, through their ups and downs, he was always great to Michael. He always did the right thing by Michael.

Did it break your heart hearing the recordings of Michael that Dr. Conrad Murray made?

The fact that this man would even record him in that [medicated] state... It's just wrong. You just don't do that. You don't take advantage of someone when they're in that state of mind. It's so sad because if you listen to what he's saying, he's truly concerned about children. He's talking about building a children's hospital. It was so dear to his heart.

One of the things that comes most through the book is how much he loved being a father.

He was the greatest father in the world. I don't think I've ever seen somebody prepare for fatherhood like he did. He was a surrogate father to myself and my brothers and sisters. The amount of books that he read on parenting... He wanted to be the greatest father in the world and he achieved that. I can't properly explain how amazing a father he was. He loved his children more than life itself.

Does anybody know if the Cascio's have kept in touch with the kids? I remember the kids went to NJ the first Christmas after Michael passed but since then have they remained in touch?

After the Cascio tracks thing it seems the Jacksons cut them off.

Paris on her fspring when asked about Frank said Michael had once looked her in the eye and said "I hate him".

I don't know, it would drive me crazy trying to figure out this book just by reading this thread (though the summations are appreciated). But as it's been proven you really can't judge this book without actually reading it word for word for yourself which is why I purchased it. And I am really enjoying it so far.

Really did the imposter say why MJ hated Frank?
That was not Paris formsrpring she already stated that on twitter and why would MJ tell his child he hated Frank.
The children spent Christmas with the Casicos after MJs passing. I dont think MJ taught his chidren hate. that
thought is more disturbing to me than anything Frank wrote in his book.

It actually was her formspring.

A lot of people started posing as her and she denied those were hers and she's since shut it down permanently (so when asked if she has a fspring she says no, which is true), but the original one was hers, she's never denied Obeegirl9 or whatever it was. Prince confirmed it was hers on a fan video chat too while it was active. A lot of the things there she has also said in her twitter and she leaked photos there originally too.

I am against this book because of the negative headlines and damage to Michael's name, and I questioned Frank's motive of writing this book as well, but there is no way I am believing this nonsense. This sounds more from Lataya:busted:. to be honest, if this is really from Paris then I think she got bad influence. There is no way Michael would say such hateful thing to his 6-7yrs old daughter.

This is so strange... I'm sure Michael loved Cascio.

not only that but I cannot picture Michael telling Paris that he "hated" anyone. imo

^^Is this really true that Paris said that.

Has the public now believing that Michael is not a pedo, since the book has been out for 1 day? I think that was the main purpose of the book. Has the public view been changing, e.g., on HLN.

Do you think such change can happen in 1 day? Realistically please.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011 / Excerpt posted at @pg151

I didnt see it. Was that all he spoke about or was it the GMA wanting to focus on that.
Did Frank portray Michael in a bad light or explain the pain MJ endured ? Is that what
you focused on in the interview or was there more being discussed? Thanks

Every show Frank goes on will want to focus on the drugs. Thats what they do
but Frank must learn to intervien and stated the book is much more than that.
and the focus of his book isnt on Mjs drug use. The media will always go there
.

It does'nt matter if he intervenes though, when they are done editing, thats all that will be said and thats the problem.

It's hard for me to believe that Michael would said that to his young kids in this way. MJ kept saying that he taught them to love. I didn't knew MJ personally but he didn't seem to be the person who would put his kids in this kind of situation. Put his dislike or issue on to his kids shoulder. Really hard to believe it's true.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011 / Excerpt posted at @pg151

They asked him about the 99 use of propofol. He said he *thought* MJ *may have* used it then, because doctor told him he was gonna help MJ sleep. Now that sounds to me like he isn't 100% sure and he just assumed it...... Why bring it up then or even put it in his book? I'm sorry, but it's unfair to MJ. All this drug talk is never positive when it comes to MJ, never. To the public it just cements the "drug addict" image and I don't see why this is needed.
Why did Frank put it in the book if he isn't 100% certain that Michael was using Propofol in 1999? Did he say that he was uncertain in the book or just the GMA interview? If he put it in the book as a fact when he wasn't sure I think that was unfair.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011 / Excerpt posted at @pg151

People keep focusing on media questions - its the answers that are important
We didnt blame Michael for how the media twisted everything about him -Its not Franks fault that the media want to ask negative questions. When there are so many other things in the book they could focus on. Of course the media is going to focus on the negative and ask questions about drugs and the molestation trial. They did the same with everyone incuding Jermaine. What is important is the answers to those questions. A question is just a question it is not fact. The answer is what clarifies it. This has been going on in the Michael world all his life it is NOTHING NEW that the media focuses on these things. NO MATTER WHAT they will focus on it.

It's in the book. Such as

"Only later would I fully understand what I had witnessed that night."

"At the time I didn’t know this, having had no experience with such things. As far as I was concerned, Michael was under the care of a doctor whom he presumably knew and trusted. It seemed safe and appropriate to the circumstances. What else was I supposed to think?"

I'm curious, does Frank mention his appearance on Oprah (along with the rest of his family) in which they all denied ever knowing or witnessing there being an issue with drugs?

So I can say that someone told him afterwards that it was propofol. Maybe Michael told him? Another person (some doctor of Michael) told to him? Or maybe Frank has a crystal ball? :fortuneteller: :p Well, it is still very confused about WHO told him that was propofol and bla bla bla. But OK... :fear:

Does he say he realizes now that he witnessed Propofol use or does he say he thinks that it was Propofol in 1999?

I think Frank is going to be on Dr. Drew in a few minutes. He just showed the pictures in Frank's book and said who was michael jackson? coming from an assistant. I think it's him.

Ivy I did not tell you that you were being sarcastic. I made a sarcastic comment which you responded with logic. I told you that it is not a good idea to respond to sarcastic posts. This means that if someone writes something sarcastic it is senseless to respond to it with a logical analysis. I hope this is clear now.

Also, I am expecting that the penn comment is not for me since I have not been talking about penn today.

No one told him it was propoful. he was saying he never heard of propoful untill Murray and then he thought back to that night and wondered if that what the Drs were doing that night to put MJ to sleep. he didnt realise it then but now he questions if that what they were doing. I would have questioned it too after learning MJ used it to sleep. It haunts him in a way to think about it. He did say MJ was in great pain after that fall and needed meds and he trusted the doctors then . but now he wonders ? I would too (Im thinking he may have seen MJ hooked up to saline bag and drs giving him meds) maybe thats why he questions that night. I dont know why he questions it but he does. It concerned him now that he knows what he knows about propoful. I hoped that made sense LOL Im confusing myself.
