yeah his career has peaked and He hit his prime but the Man is timeless and will always be discussed hundreds of years from now easily. he will have his de-trators but alot of that is on the personal tip because albums like Off the wall and Thriller will always be talked about and the whole Jackson 5 five run. you can't talk about Pop Music and avoid Michael Jackson and as long as the industry runs out a Usher, Timberlake,Chris Brown and NeYo then MJ will always be around.

influence and impact keeps the tradition going and the albums and performances speak for themselves.

you're right. musicians like usher, chris etc will pass, and MJ is 4ever.
Michael has made a change in music, but not only pop music, i think he's done a lot more... he's a legend now, and there is that etiquette people get even more appriciated and famous after their death, so just imagine the future, Michael is going to be one of the most discussed artist ever...

MJ reached his place in history with Thriller and then several times after that with the purchase of The Beatles catalogue, singles, concert sell outs, biggest contracts, best video etc. MJ is that damn good!:punk:

Michael (in my opinion) has reached his highest hights in music..

Not that he is not capable to do better than before.. The music industry is a different place now, and though he can reach high.. high today is not the same..

And for that comment about MJ cannot do it without 'Q'????

that is 100% YOUR opinion. Dangerous in many ways was bigger than 'BAD' yes BAD sold 1 million more.. But DANGEROUS era as a whole was larger...

Thriller semented him as the largest entertainer
Bad took him to that untouchable level, where he proved he was the King
Dangerous is when it all came full cycle and put his stamp as the greatest that has and will ever live..

Quincy was a huge mentor, and help mold MJ to who he has became today in his talent.. But you can give 'Q' credit for being one of MJ's best teachers.. Michael took what he learned from him and kept it.. EVEN TO THIS DAY (WITHOUT 'Q')

If there is anywhere that you can point the finger at MJ where it went wrong.. I would have to give it to PR.. the great PR he did that came around and bit him in the @$$. The media used MICHAEL against himself.

Is this a serious question? Michael has more than secured his place in history. One of the biggest and most controversial stars that has ever lived, there is no way he'll be forgotten anytime soon.

I don't even think Michael's reached his peak musically. He's still completely capable of blowing our minds and is vocally in his prime. Never underestimate someone that gifted.

I was listening to Michael's song HIStory, and there was a part that said "He said one day he'll recieve, his place in world history". I thought, if Michael was talking about himself in this song, has he recieved his place in world history? I mean, he has had Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad, but it pretty much died after that. Has Michael reached his place in world history? Will he be written about in the history books? If he is written in them, is he "The Man Who Made Thriller" or "The Man Who Made A Difference To Music"? Your thoughts?

I think we have yet to see his real place in history :) just my gut feeling....
This was from the MJ quotes thread posted by wannabestartingsomething

"I really believe that God chooses people to do certain things, the way Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci or Mozart or Muhammad Ali or Martin Luther King is chosen. And that is their mission to do that thing. And I think that I haven't scratched the surface yet of what my real purpose is for being here." Michael Jackson 1992 (I think)

He's already made history in more ways than one but I think, as he has said in this quote, that that he hasn't yet scratched the surface of what his real purpose for being here is. Though he has already done so very much. Could even be about something other than music.
