As the 30th anniversary of
HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I approaches, Michael Jackson fans around the globe are coming together once again to honor the King of Pop’s iconic double album. From June 20 to June 26, the fan-led initiative is calling on supporters to stream and purchase
HIStory en masse in hopes of propelling it into the Top 10 of the
Billboard 200 and
Billboard World Albums charts.
This grassroots campaign, primarily driven through social media platforms and fan forums, is part celebration, part statement.
HIStory remains one of Michael Jackson’s most personal and politically charged projects, and fans are determined to give it renewed visibility three decades after its release.
“We want the world to remember what
HIStory stands for—not just the music, but the message,” says one campaign organizer from Brazil. “It’s about reminding new generations of Michael’s legacy.”
These types of campaigns are not new to the MJ fanbase. Over the years, similar efforts have been launched to boost various albums, singles, or even YouTube views on key anniversaries or dates related to Michael’s life. While they often create a wave of online excitement and temporary spikes in numbers, they have, unfortunately, yielded limited success in achieving long-term chart re-entries—especially on major rankings like the Billboard 200.
Still, the passion of MJ’s global fan community is undeniable. With thousands already pledging to stream
HIStory on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, and others purchasing digital and physical copies of the album, the movement is gaining momentum.
Whether or not the campaign cracks the Top 10, one thing is clear: Michael Jackson fans will never stop championing his art. And if this anniversary brings
HIStory to even one new listener, that’s a victory in itself.
