How physically strong was Michael Jackson?

Just wanted to point out that it's not a "real" black belt. I assume to get that, you have to train many years. I don't have much knowledge in that area though πŸ™‚.
I don't know what level of belt Michael got besides the honorary 5th degree one, but given his extraordinary talent as a dancer, I suspect he would be able to learn the karate moves a lot faster than most people.
 
I think he had excellent endurance AND strength; one doesn't preclude the other. ^^
Michael was strong enough to lift that young woman during a concert when he was a bit tired (we must have been halfway through). I agree with what you're saying; he was very strong, hence his visible muscles (muscular back, lean but muscular arms, etc.).

No, not all men can do that. There are men who can't lift a woman even small.

And even when it comes to lifting a heavy table, Jermaine confessed to being unable to do so while Michael yes and Jermaine is thicker than Michael.

There is only one definition for the physical (Michael was also mentally strong) is that of being able to carry heavyweights like a human or dumbbells (or marble tables lol)

Well, I define strong as being able to lift like at least 2-3 times your body weight and also do other exercises like bench press, overhead press, etc. with a reasonable amount of weight. But maybe that's just me because I look at it from the strength - training - perspective.

The table-example is not proof to me, because maybe Jermaine is just weak af πŸ˜‚ (sorry, don't want to be a meanie).

I am definitely impressed my Michael's body control and stamina, that's for sure.

Nah, men are generally stronger because they have more muscle over all. Especially in the upper body, lower body is not such a big difference.

I am sure the women who have broken weight lifting records are quite muscular. Do you have names for me? Lifting your body weight is easy, I am sure you could do that.

I don't say he is weak, I am saying he is more the athletic type, not particularly strong, like I define strong (see post above).

And the marble table... don't know how heavy it was, so can't say anything about it 😁.

edit: being muscular doesn't equal being strong. Bodybuilders are very muscular but they are not the strongest because they train in a different rep-range than weightlifters.
 
Be careful not to confuse muscles and fat. It mostly depends on body type. Women generally have curves and are socially expected to be slim, but it's not innate. Men aren't born stronger than women.

Nah, not especially. Lya Bavoil, for example, is a world weightlifting champion and isn't necessarily the most muscular, even though she has curves and a shapely figure, but that's because of her body type.

Oh no, I couldn't do that! I already have a lot of trouble lifting a six-pack of large water bottles (1.5L), I can't imagine lifting my own weight. It still takes a lot of strength.

Going back to what you said above, for me, a physically strong person isn't necessarily athletic, muscular, or in the military, just someone who's trained and can easily lift weights. Whether they do bench presses or not doesn't really matter. Many people claim that Michael was very strong.

That's true, but a marble table is generally heavier than a wooden one.

Indeed, one can be strong without being muscular, and vice versa.

  • I looked up Lya Bavoil and she has a looot of muscles, but also a normal amount of body fat, that's why it's not that visible (although I think it's very visible)

It's wrong. Men and women have the same number of muscles, 639 if you include skeletal muscles. What differs is how they develop them. Ultimately, it doesn't depend on sex but on body type and the effectiveness of the training methods for muscle development; some techniques won't work for others.

She has muscle, I admit, but she's not extremely muscular or has well-defined muscles. I think Michael has more muscle; he's leaner than her, even if her arms were a bit flabby.

If I can successfully lift a heavy table without help and without pain, I can be considered strong. For me, it's as simple as that; you shouldn't look for something relative. It all depends on what you consider strong and heavy.

Google Bodybuilders in bulking season and shredded. You just can't see the muscle because there is fat on top of it. And weightlifters are in general not as lean because then it's easier to get stronger and build more muscle.

For me, someone considered "strong" has to be able to move/lift certain weights. How much depends on if it's a deadlift - motion or overhead press - motion or (put in whatever motion there is).

And start deadlifting, girl - I promise you, body weight is easy peasy. And carrying water bottles gets easier that way 😁

As for pure strength, Michael was naturally strong, and if he had been a powerlifter, he would have been a champion in that field, given his already considerable base strength. But that wasn't Michael's dream, and he made that clear to Lou Ferrigno during training sessions. Michael has aptitudes and predispositions for strength.

Then again, it's subjective. Many pros and fans find Michael very strong, myself included. He could lift me without any problem, I'm sure of it, lol!

(That triangle shape he had , and enhancing that through dance and performances , attracted me very much more..so much so ..more so, than the bottom half that people are attracted to , his feet etc ..
