I Am a Fan, But... (What Makes You Heretic Among Other Fans?)

Really? I’m obsessed with the braid, makes me wanna melt 🫠🫠🫠
Idk what’s considered the ‘normal’ but I feel like it would be considered less common for my preference being during the 2000s. I consider J5, Off the Wall, Bad, Thriller, Dangerous, and HIStory to be more of his ‘oh my gosh he’s so cutesy.’ But once we get to Invincible he be like, ‘daaaaaaaang he’s fine.’ And ik he wasn’t in the best shape during This Is It, but boy be lookin good then too ngl, but more like cutesy again.
update: late J5 and OTW is literally bf material fr

Also….. Prichael 4eva! 🤣

ONLY only because I find it super funny and the photo edits are cute and funny too

Whyyyyyy I really don't understand that tbh
wdym!? 😭😭😭😭😭
The orchestra, the music the style is just gorgeous and his voice is so sweet and full of emotion
Like do you hear those
stringsss😮‍💨👌
And just how he sings the song to just
flow, like it’s almost one breath.
And the
dynamics! I would love to see it get louder and softer more but the dynamics are beautiful
The song just brings so much emotion musically
without any vocals and he just adds more to it
And the ending just feels like it has a childlike innocence and you can just
hear the smile in his voice
I
hate doing anything while the song goes on, don’t like being distracted while listening to that masterpiece
Gee now I gotta go listen to it on repeat again! 😂

I don't like the song smile, almost always a skip.
While I also find it a bit kitschy, I like to think about what it meant to MJ and therefore enjoy to listen. He said somewhere that he used to sing it to himself when he was down. And in the Bashir documentary I believed to hear him humming the tune when he got into a crowd. And when police reported him singing to himself on the way to that moment where he was later mistreated, I think it was that song.

HIStory is his best album. A lot of anger, some personal issues that he finally sings in his songs.
I enjoy listening to Invincible more than Dangerous. Even though Remember The Time is incredible, from the video to the way he sings.
I've tried listening to J5 albums and I just can't...I like some of the songs but not that many. And (don't hate me) I really don't enjoy Michael's voice as a kid. The Jacksons have many very good songs and HeartBreak Hotel is one o the best songs that Michael wrote.
I don't like straight hair on him.

1. The Way You Love Me, Speechless, Will You Be There, Childhood, Fly Away, Heal the World, Give in to Me and Earth Song are my mainstay top tier Michael songs (I prefer songs that he wrote by himself).

2. Be Not Always is one of my top songs by The Jacksons, and I feel it's the most "Michael" song in their catalog. Gret lyrics with a thought-provoking message.

3. Liberian Girl is a bit too mushy for me, and one of my least favorite songs that he wrote.

4. Aside from the lyrics, I think the song Bad is a little so-so by his standards. A bit too repetitive and doesn't really take off like some of his other songs.

5. I enjoy Michael's demo of P.Y.T. just as much, or more than the final version.

6. It's The Falling in Love is worse than Girlfriend, mainly because of the guest vocalist up there. Also, it's one of my least favorite songs of his adult solo career.

7. The title track of Invincible is the worst song up there and should've been replaced with Shout. I don't care for the lyrics and Unbreakable should've been the title track.

8. Be Not Always is one of my top songs by The Jacksons, and I feel it's the most "Michael" song in their catalog. Gret lyrics with a thought-provoking message.

9. The Jackson's Triumph was just as good as Off the Wall, and maybe even better lyrically (maybe not musically).

10. Forever Michael is Michael's best Motown album, and Ben is his weakest album period.

11. Had Farewell My Summer Love been released in its original form, it would've been better than Ben.

12. 1972-75 is my favorite period of the Motown years, and those years had most of their strongest songs.

I like your take on HIStory. HIStory and Dangerous are his best albums in my opinion.

It’s Thriller if it was written by MJ instead of Rod Temperton.

Curse you

The title track of Invincible is the worst song up there and should've been replaced with Shout. I don't care for the lyrics and Unbreakable should've been the title track.
Curse you again

I agree with you about Triumph tho.

I'm not the biggest fan of this move
The-Circle-glide.gif

I like it sometimes but he often did it for too long.

It’d hit better if you were heartbroken lol. I understand though.
I haven't been in years luckily ahah

I wouldn't say that invincible is the worst track on the album but I do agree on Unbreakable, very strong title for an album and the track itself is so good!

Invincible will always be a better name than Unbreakable, even if the songs are (subjectively) vice versa better.

Curse you
Why are you cursing me man! Isn't it Pissy Austin that we should be cursing? I will never forget a podcast of hers that I heard some years back where the topic of the allegations against Michael came up. She said that she believed Michael could possibly be guilty because she felt that he had an "evil side" to him. I didn't like her overall attitude in that podcast either. And let's be honest, she can't hold a candle to Michael and added absolutely nothing to It's the Falling in Love! I'd rather listen to the original solo demo that he sung. As for my opinions about Girlfriend vs. this song, I feel that they are both so-so, but I take away points from ITFIL because of the featured singer. Either way, ITFIL is of the most unnecessary songs on the album to me (Girlfriend and Burn This Disco Out next in line).

Curse you again

Maybe "worst" was a strong word to use, but Invincible isn't really my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong, Invincible is not a terrible song by any means, but I feel it doesn't serve much of a purpose other than bridging the gap between Heartbreaker and Break of Dawn. I think it's probably the weakest of the Darkchild produced songs on the album. Although I do like the little piano riff in the background, I don't like the melody and chorus as much as the others. Structure-wise, I think it's too similar to Heartbreaker, which is a much better song. And the fact that they're back-to-back on the album just makes it even more obvious. Lyric-wise, it, once again, doesn't serve much of a purpose. Pretty much all of the ballads, love them or hate them, served their purpose. They were some of his favorite and most personal songs on the album (e.g. Speechless, The Lost Children, You Are My Life), AND he really let his raw emotions and vocals shine on those songs (e. g. Don't Walk Away). Same with Unbreakable, Threatened, and Privacy, which he could really relate to at the time. Heartbreaker, Break of Dawn, Heaven Can Wait, You Rock My World, Butterflies, Cry and Whatever Happens feel like classic MJ, even though he didn't write most of them. But Invincible is basically about a stuck-up chick playing hard to get and resisting all of his efforts, and he calls her "invincible". The only other song that could fit in that category would be 2000 Watts (or possibly Don't Walk Away), but at least 2000 Watts had a different, futuristic vibe to it. To top it off, Invincible is the title track and he's not even singing about himself like he did in Unbreakable. I know he did the same thing with Dangerous, but Dangerous was a lot better in my opinion. I feel that Shout would've worked because it's about social commentary and he's doing that cool rapping on the track. But anyway, Invincible is an OK filler track that fills its spot, but it's near the bottom of my favorites list.

@Soldier of Love Ive always loved Its The Falling in Love, since I was a child. It shows a side of Micharl that's rarely talked about. It's relatable. Probably in the same way something like Someone Put Your Hand Out. But I can agree Patti Austin is pretty blase, I can take or leave her.

Invincible hits better when you can relate to it. I think it's a cool melody and I find it less played out than the first two. Dangerous was basically a Single in all but name, if Invincible got the same treatment as the other title tracks it would be more popular. There's nothing wrong with it sonically or melodically, it's aged the best to be honest.

i find the 2008 version of P.Y.T better than the original
i just like the style and the beat more and the rap part is
super fun
lyrics are
crazy but imma sing them all the live long day lol
