Jackson Doctor's LA Court Hearing Postponed

By LINDA DEUTSCH AP Special Correspondent
LOS ANGELES July 7, 2011 (AP)

A hearing in the criminal case against Michael
Jackson's doctor has been postponed because
lawyers are bogged down viewing hundreds of hours
of rehearsal footage from the singer's "This Is It"
concert rehearsals.

In a conference Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior
Court Judge Michael Pastor delayed a July 12 hearing
to July 20 but said he wants to know then when the
involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray
can go forward. It is now set for Sept. 8.

Attorneys said they have been working daily since
June 28 and have gotten through only one of 21
boxes of materials.

Prosecutors want to use the film to show Jackson was
in good health while the defense seeks evidence he
was ill.

Murray has pleaded not guilty in Jackson's 2009
overdose death.

and if he was sick, why the hell didn't his doctor, Conrad Murray, know about it?

and why would he pump him full of sedatives and anesthetics if his health was so compromised?

They haven't got a leg to stand on.

Exactly... if your patient is sick you take them to the hospital, not pump them full of sedatives and anesthesia while you chat on the phone with your girlfriends

I think that they want to insinuate, perhaps, that Michael didn't really die from what Murray gave that night/morning but instead something else that was already making him ill. They probably are going to challenge the conclusion by the coroner as to cause of death. Remember all they need is reasonable doubt, and some talking have partly backed them with this theory if that is where they are going.

At this time, he isn't on trial simply for poor health care or missing the signs of an illness; I'm not even sure that a jury would want to go there with a doctor in a criminal case. The prosecution is going a step further in terms of saying that it was his actions--not his inactions--that caused Michael's death. Big difference.

but still Murray was his physician for 3 years if 'something else' was making him sick, shouldn't Murray have known about it? there are phone records to prove that Murray told the insurers, Ortega, and everyone else that MJ was fine and healthy. They can insinuate all they want, it was Murray's responsibility to care for MJ and everything in Mike's system was administered by Murray that night.

But, you can not take your eyes off what he is charged with? You can argue all day and night whether Murray was a good doctor for not seeing this or that. But that is not what he is charged with in terms of manslaughter. The coroner did not say that Michael died because Murray missed such and such diagnosis or because Murray didn't insist that Michael get more rest or that Michael check into a hospital.

The jury will be responsible for determining did Murray cause Michael's death as related to his actions with propofol. Don't mistakenly doubt what could happen if the defense gets just one juror to doubt the coroner's findings in any way (which includes that self-administration wasn't likely/possible).

I can not belive it has been postponed again! what is the judge waiting for??? Seriously if i was that judge would tell them ENOUGH IS ENOUGH_ GET ON WITH IT!!!"

I think they will stick to what they have already stated, but nothing to do with any illness as any cause of death... they are apparently seeking for anything they can use as "evidence" to support their theory of the self-desesperation, apparent symtoms they can attribute to withrawals from other doctors' treatments and the like... nothing they have not already announced.

they can't really insinuate any illness that caused Michael's death, because the autopsy clearly showed that he was healthy and had no life-threatening diseases. I don't understand how the defense can argue with that? Unless they say the coroner made a mistake. But how possible for them to say that?

I bet it will be 2015 before this trial starts. Pssht. Maybe if the idiotic losers arrested Murray right after it happened, we would have made some progress.

You can pay another coroner to say something different.

Like the Casey Anthony case they found another coroner who said the state's coroner did the autopsy wrong because she did not open the head. Dr G. who did Caylee autopsy did it right BTW but they got this guy to say she did not. i agree with you in a sense because IMO it would be hard for another coroner to look at Michael's autopsy and say something else killed him. But like classic said you only need one juror. The big issue is if the judge will allow it in. But when you have members of Michael's "beloved" family saying he was sick why not try this defense

:sigh:

Michael Jackson hearing delayed because of film

7:02 AM, Jul 8, 201

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Hundreds of hours of tape will mean a delay of at least eight days in a hearing connected to the trial of the doctor accused in Michael Jackson's death.

The hearing had been set for this coming Tuesday -- but has been postponed until the following Wednesday. The reason: lawyers for both sides have been reviewing hundreds of hours of rehearsal footage from the "This Is It" concert.

Most of the clips didn't make it into the final cut of the movie or DVD -- and both sides plan to show clips to the jury to bolster their claims.

The defense wants to show that Jackson wasn't in the best of health in the weeks and days before his death while prosecutors claim the clips show that Jackson was fine. Right now, the start of the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray is set for September 8. But it's unclear if that's when it will actually start.

The Houston-based cardiologist is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death. He has pleaded not guilty.

Oh God....

Okay what's another eight days, when they've been delaying it by months? I'm so used to seeing this getting pushed-back time after time, that I don't hold my hopes for it to start in September as scheduled.

that's why I've been saying the prosecution has to eliminate the self-injection theory else Murray is going to walk free.

at this rate this case is never gonna happen and if it does Murray's gonna get a slap on his wrist anyway, if convicted-at all (I consider 4 years nothing.)
We just need one juror and Murray is gonna be able to capitalize on killing Michael Jackson for the rest of his life. Wouldn't even be surprised if Murray pulls an OJ with an ''If I did It - book''.

well hopefully they realize that since they hired an expert that said it is impossible. I just hope this expert cannot be swayed. Besides I doubt if MJ's fingerprints are on anything.

He didnt say it was impossible.at the end of the day the judge will decide this case with his instructions at the end imo

ya know what..I am with you here....I have lost all hope that Murray will spend a day in jail.....I hope I am wrong...but I just cannot shake that feeling.

You're not the only one. These days the word 'justice' does'nt seem to have the same meaning I thought it once did.

So what exactly is going to be decided tomorrow, I mean what is the 20th July hearing going to be about-that whether the trial may begin as scheduled on Sept 8 or if it has to be postponed again because of the film footage being considered ?

I won't be suprised if its postponed, because they keep moving it! JUST FACE THE WORLD, MURRAY!
