Regarding all the info that comes out from these depos regarding the interventions, i found the thread from the jackson forum which i think (not read it yet) details all the news reports of the interventions which could be useful for future ref. I understood from my study of us legal system (ie watching eps of the good wife) that depos have the same legal standing as statements under oath in court so i do hope there's been no perjury.

yes a depo is given under oath. it sometimes gets used to trip up witnesses if they say something different on the stand to what they said in the depo. ie impeach them

Yes that was the thread we were referencing before that deals with the interventions.
It would be interesting to find out how many new depositions have been done since they got a new trial date. I only hope that people are not going to wait till the last minute to rush to get things done. Any news on whether Katherine submitted those extra details to AEG?

- Opposition document includes mention of several depositions: Gongaware will be deposed by Katherine's lawyers next week (between May 21 -25). Katherine's lawyers also want to depose Dan Beckerman and Michael Roth from AEG. Deposition dates for Beckerman and Roth is still being discussed among the parties.

I was wondering the perjury thing.
AEG could, if they wanted to, prove that Jackson's so called "interventions" are fluff, but would they even bother as it suits them just fine that family is pushing idea of Michael being in need for "interventions" for decades. They want to take the route that Michael was drug addict well before he made concert deal with them, they didn't know it but family did.
Who do you have in you mind who could prove that perjury is committed when family gave their depositions?

everything has been delayed by 6 months. probably now the discovery will continue and we will only start hearing from this case again close to summary judgement time (probably sometime between november and january).
I wonder if Ivy got any news on these depositions:

I cannot understand what Katherine's lawyers are thinking to allow their clients' relatives to deliver all this to AEG on a platter. The thing is that these siblings are so bent on showing how out of control their brother was that they do not consider how their speech contribute to them losing their case.

Re the jacksons and their intervention talk, i don't expect a huge amount of strategic thinking from the jacksons but it is odd that their expensive lawyers are perfectly happy with them waxing lyrical about all those attempts to save mj. I'm wondering if the deliberate portrayal of mj as being a long-term addict is to make aeg more negligent in their signing up mj to do the 50 concerts and not put in place careful monitoring of him, instead just allowing mj to be under the supervision of dr murray. Presumably mj is so clearly someone suffering from substance abuse, that it should have been blindingly apparent in aeg's dealings with him. IDK, just trying to find some method in their madness.

The rest is Katherine had filed the lawsuit against AEG and AEG Live and later on tried to add AEG Live Productions as defendant Doe 1. AEG Live Productions is the actual company behind TII concerts. So AEG was trying to argue against AEG Live Productions added as a defendant. The news story seems that judge granted Katherine's request and added AEG Live Productions as a defendant.

Was the family also included in this lawsuit against AEG ? or trying to get a stake in it ?
Unless they are talking about removing the children from the suite to spare them from having to go through that.

Very good--I like when the money is affected. They added AEG live, but that is ok, since they still have to prove this case in court, finish the depositions, and provide all documents.

Thanks ivy. good that theres no punitive but in the scheme of things does that matter interms of the amount the family are asking for. i presume the basic amount they want is pretty huge anyway??
whats the diff between aeg and aeg live, productions etc. are they asking for damages off each seperate company. arent they pretty much one of the same?

It was just said "economic damages proven at the time of the trial" so that's the reason for Katherine asking AEG for their books and AEG is trying to determine if and how the Jacksons were dependent to Michael. I would assume it could still be $102 Million - TII income + funeral costs - as mentioned in Murray's trial.
Honestly I couldn't understand the fuss over the companies but AEG Live Productions was the subsidiary that had the contract / negotiations with Murray. Probably if AEG was successful if not getting them added, there could be a further defense strategy for them in it.

and wouldnt aeg want to prove that katherine wasnt as reliant on mj in order to not have to pay as much. although that doesnt go with aeg asking tito etc all those questions

I wrote that as a general information. Compensatory damages in wrongful death lawsuits are lost income, cost of medical care, funeral and burial. There could also be damages based on grief and lost of companionship.
The actual calculation would depend on too many factors.
