*News*

All the news are about Neverland ranch.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Entertainer Michael Jackson said on Sunday that a foreclosure sale on his Neverland Ranch property in California has been canceled by Colony Capital LLC, which acquired the loan on the ranch from Fortress Investment Group and is negotiating a deal.

Jackson said in a press release that he was "in discussions" over the ranch with Colony and was "pleased with recent developments."

A spokesman for Jackson declined to provide further details.

*Mentionings*

Maybe there was something in the water. Maybe everything was shaking along with Elvis's trousers. Whatever the reason, the summer of 1958 was a fecund time for producing future pop singers.

Within the space of three months Paul Weller, Prince, Madonna and Michael Jackson all came kicking and screaming into this world. And none of them has stopped since.

All four turn 50 this year. It is a landmark they must have assumed, in the swanky pinnacle of their youthful fame, they would never have to confront.

Michael Jackson Quote

I've seen lawyers who don't represent me and spokespeople who do not know me speaking for me. These characters always seem to surface with dreadful allegations just as another project, an album, a video is being released.
~ Michael Jackson, November 18, 2003 after a search warrant was served at Neverland Ranch.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a pop star that Calgary director and choreographer Sean Cheesman hasn't worked with.
Michael Jackson? Check. Prince? Check. Janet Jackson? Check. Britney Spears. Her too. Whitney Houston? Mmm hmm. Cher? Yep, her as well. Tina Turner? You betcha. KISS? Yes, even KISS (although Gene Simmons was a jerk).

Born and raised in Calgary, Cheesman had early ambitions of becoming a figure skater. To improve his flexibility and movement, he took up dance on the side. As his love of dance began to eclipse his desire to skate, he found himself at Calgary's Decidedly Jazz Danceworks in the mid '80s, which then got him enrolled at the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in New York City.
After lying on his resume (he didn't have a green card) he landed a dream gig for his very first job -- in 1987 he was cast as a backup dancer in Michael Jackson's Bad video, directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese.
"It's funny because at the time, I didn't even know who Martin Scorsese was," Cheesman says. "I remember him talking to us. Wesley Snipes was also in it, before he was big. But I was just in such awe of being near Michael Jackson. It wasn't until years later that I clued in -- 'My God, I worked with Martin Scorsese!' It was one of my first big experiences."
That soon led to a part in another Michael Jackson video, The Way You Make Me Feel, and Cheesman went on to work in music videos with Paula Abdul, and a bit part in 1992's The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston. In the following years, he toured with Janet Jackson as a choreographer and dancer, before moving on to choreograph Prince's Diamonds and Pearls worldwide tour. Before long, he was choreographing Michael and Janet Jackson in the most expensive music video ever made, the $8-million Scream.
"I knew it was going to be huge from the minute I was asked," he says.
"I had just gotten off tour with Janet and that was at the peak of her success. And considering her and Michael had never done anything together before, I knew it was going to be big. It took two weeks to pull off. With the Jacksons, it's not so much creating a routine as auditioning one, you show it to them and they may tweak it here or there."

Which leads to an interesting question. Having worked with both Michael Jackson and Prince, who does he prefer working with?
"They're both really intense, hard workers," Cheesman says. "And they both have their own sort of vision. But . . . Michael Jackson is really weird.

Prince is really small and he talks really low, but Michael Jackson is one of those guys where if I'm standing (three feet away) I'm invading his personal space. He's really awkward. It's funny because he's very nerdy. I choreographed Michael and Janet's Scream video and I went to his house in Neverland Ranch, and that was weird because it looks just like Christmas. But his staff is very . . . proper

"But there's still some artists I want to work with. Jully Black, I would love to work with her and hope she calls. And Steven Spielberg, I would jump at the chance to work with him. I'd also love to work with Michael (Jackson) again. I think he should do a Vegas act. I think his putting out singles are over, but people would flock to see him live."

Karimi presents an intense character, fueled by his revolutionary fervor and frequently driven into a rage at Castro's affection for Spam, a favorite of his people, he explains. And when Karimi leaves the stage for a moment, Castro sings a love song to a can of Spam, fitting the lyrics to the tune of "Ben," the early Michael Jackson song about a rat.
