"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Now that my hype has calmed down I'd say my biggest problem with the film is that it really is quite rushed. They rushed through the J5 era, they skipped the transition years between Motown to Epic and there was really 1 song from The Jacksons besides the one on the soundtrack that was shown (I'm not too familiar with MJ's discography pre-Off The Wall so I unfortunately don't know the name). The Off The Wall era was skimmed through and so were the clips (the "Beat It" one was a big let down because it wasn't even a clip it was just a rehearsal), if you've seen the teasers you've practically seen all those parts of the movie. The jumps in timeline were quite sudden, you see MJ as a kid and suddenly it transitions to the year 1978 and Michael is just about to release Off The Wall with no mention of The Wiz. This, the cut to Victory Tour and then to Bad Tour is where it's the most abrupt.

The dramatization is mostly centered around Joe being controlling and MJ trying to break free from him, we do get other bits showing how much of a lonely person Michael was and that he only had the company of his own animals, bits with Michael vising sick children at hospitals (the scene where Bill Bray was looking over MJ talking to a burn victim after the Pepsi commercial accident was quite touching) and stuff like the vitiligo/plastic surgery was just briefly touched on. There isn't much depth besides that.

I still enjoyed watching the movie, I'd say it picks up after "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" is played (Michael's voice was powerful in that acapella) which is quite early on in the film but it is a let down in some aspects. I'd rate the movie a 6.5/10, it really could've used a bigger runtime.

The film is now up to 35% om Rotten Tomatoes which suggests the initial score was a staged setup where the same people praising LN had ganged up to post the lowest scores possible, just like people had warned us.

That its climbing shows that more reasonable reviews come in but its still hard to overcome the brutal start it had!

The Branca scenes was the funniest part of the movie btw, not because of the scenes themselves but someone from the audience yelled out and called him a motherfucker when he was introduced lmfao. And when MJ asks what his name is and he says "John Branca" some woman said "who gives a ****?"
you know what im after mr branca😭

Well..... damn!

Movie will be an absolute smash guys, don't worry. The Branca stuff is pissing me off. We'll never get anything authentic while he runs the estate. By the time something can change, all of us - his fan demographic will be dead. It is what it is.

I believe initial Bohemian Rhapsody reviews were pretty negative too. It will be interesting to see if the film does as well as predicted , despite what critics say.

They could at least have shown that Michael, as a child, was extremely lonely, separated from his mother, and that adults cared for him, taking on the roles of mother and father, and letting him sleep in their bed. They could have shown that Michael and his siblings slept in the same room, and that this was perfectly normal for him. They could have shown that he didn't know any other way to experience the love he received, and that he simply let other children sleep in his bedroom without any ulterior motives, simply to pass on the love he had received as a child. Furthermore, they could have shown that his bedroom was as big as a house for others.

I think that was the case of Neverland though, meaning after the time frame of this movie. I agree though it should be part of the second movie. When I think about it, I am not sure two parts are enough to cover the rest of his story... not if one wishes to include both:
I. his video artistry and performances (some of his most epic videos came to fruition after the 1st time frame, not to mention performances, several of which would deserve to be reenacted the way Thriller and M25 were
and
2. his legal ordeals

My 6 years old son is very excited to see the film tomorrow he is since he is 3 a big fan like me so it’s not bad at all that the allegations is not part of it he had his Billie Jean outfit ready for tomorrow

Is the family of a guilter looking like this!?
It also hurts me back then when I said that the rumors were probably true, that everything would be removed due to legal disputes, I was called a "guilter" and you are fans of Michael who simply call a fan a "guilter".

Yes, ... I hope that one day this will be shown in a movie or documentary that is not for the box office, not for money ...

Are there any historical inaccuracies, because biopics normally tend to have some? There were quite a few historical inaccuracies in Bohemian Rhapsody.

I've not long left my first ever IMAX movie.

Cried my eyes out. It's absolutely heartbreaking. Rushed but overall very very well done.
