"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

If they want an Academy Award for a song then I can't think of a leaked one tbh.. 'Dream Away' is very beautiful but lacks the personal substance..? So they might have some (unfinished) stuff that is beautiful and personal..?

If they are going to use MJ music to create new one, I hope they will use Just Good Friends as the main preset! This is the best song from Bad album, actually this is the best song Michael have ever recorded! 100 times better than Billie Jean. Stevie Wonder did a great job on this track! Such an underrated song, really

The time for Innocent Man has come. If not for the biopic, then when?
[Verse 1]
California’s lost her love for me
Seems she’s trying to convict me now
Seems her heart has turned against me now

[Pre-Chorus]
If I sail to Acapulco or Cancun Mexico
Then the odds are all against me
But god knows that I’m innocent
If I sail to Acapulco or Cancun Mexico
There the law is waiting for me
And God knows that I’m innocent

[Chorus]
If they won’t take me in Cairo
Then Lord knows where will I go
I’ll die a man without a country
And only God knew I was innocent now
If sail to Acapulco or Cancun Mexico
There the law is waiting for me
But God knows that I’m innocent

[Verse 2]
If the British try to find me then
Lord, where will I go?
Let the whole world go against me
Long as God knows
I’m an innocent man now

[Pre-Chorus]
Farewell to all my years in Hollywood
Or Farewell to all my dreams in Hollywood
Let the whole world be against me
Long as God knows I’m an innocent man

[Chorus]
Now if the British try to find me
Then lord knows where will I go?
Let the whole world try to find me
Long as God knows

[Verse 3]
Sometimes I feel just like a fugitive
I’m running for my life and deep inside I ask the question why
But I’m not running at all
I’m just healing a lonely wounded heart
The truth becomes the lie I wish I could fly away

Probably too incomplete. According to Damien only chorus vocals were recorded.
The article mentions that unfinished songs could be completed.
“Michael recorded a variety of unfinished ideas and short licks which have remained in the archives. They were either not developed or just left over from sessions to be reviewed another day. Lots of those digitized files have been reviewed and examined by the estate. And the ones, which best represent the magic of Michael, have been looked at by producers to create new tunes.

Slightly nervous as to the exact meaning of 'new tunes'. It doesn't have to be bad but ... well, I'm just nervous, that's all.

It seems to be a similar approach as with the Elvis soundtrack.
The album also features variations on Presley material by big name artists in a variety of genres and styles. It consists of a mix of genres, including pop, rock and roll, jazz, R&B and hip hop.

"Frankesteining" tracks doesn't seem like a bad idea depending as to what extent it's being done—if we take "Dream Away" as an example which is a song with vocals that are almost complete but with a missing ending, and they borrow a bit of another song that has vocals that fits melodically and lyrically enough to fill in that specific gap then it seems ideal. It's also a good way to utilize those unfinished scraps rather than to leave them in the vault indefinitely. If it's done that way I'd absolutely be onboard with it.

I don't like this idea. I think, they should either make new remixes or just leave original songs, like they are.

worst case scenario: they'll re-imagine vault tracks - not only sonically but also lyrically. HT says hello.
HT feels okay. Lyrically they just cutted out "she is only fifteen", well, because this is a little bit inappropriate I think

That also sound like the material from from Michael Prince‘s hard drive.. Choruses + maybe one verse.. Though that would be later than Dangerous..

I'd also prefer if they released the songs as is but the Estate wants the songs to be eligible for an Oscar nomination, so they need to be presented in the best way possible. There can't be any mumbling or missing gaps or anything that gives away that the track is unfinished, an artist's unfinished demo isn't something that interests the general audience. Usually that's a thing that only the fans appreciate.

If they do it just for one or two parts then I think that's fine, really.

Troll alert right here folks

They could pick up from the vault something finished and use this for Oscar nomination. I surely remember at least all Will.i.am songs are completely finished

I think a single verse, and a hook would be viable as a "single". People put traditional standards on an MJ song; two verses, a bridge, ad-libs. I don't see why not just something less than 2 minutes. This still won't work with something like Water, which is literally 30 seconds of music. But it could basically be a cool interlude.

I could see them using Dream Away.

Also yeah, "new tunes" kinda makes me think they're gonna be combining stuff or something.
Ever since I heard the Estate acquired the rights for the song from Porcaro in July last year (NY Times / MJVibe), I can't not imagine it playing during the opening credits, and maybe double as a promotional song specifically for the film. The music and melody is almost hauntingly beautiful, and the personal touches in the lyrics ("We could sail away our dreams to our Never Neverland", "wish upon a star", "and sharing truth and tales of youth", etc.) would be perfect for the biopic.

I at least hope the song finds a good release platform; it was one of the first unreleased songs in a while that re-jolted the feeling of how much was lost with his death.
