"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Didn't we know for a while it was delayed from October?
Yeah, it's old news. I liked that little Dion Beebe interview (dated 7 July 2025) but I thought it was weird that it was carrying an incorrect statement that the film would be in cinemas from October.

I've lost interest at this point until something concrete is announced [...]
Same.

Not this shit again, really don't want to deal with this in 2026 during the biopic
Slightly off topic but why the **** is Mark Geragos on team Cascio? This shit stinks of a cash grab and I hope to god that the estate fight them all the way to court!

Wasn't Geragos replaced by Mesereau in 2004?

Wasn't Geragos replaced by Mesereau in 2004?
Yes, Geragos was also representing Scott Peterson and Michael wanted a team that would solely devote their time to him, understandably. I think Geragos cited "irreconcilable differences".

Now he'll say he "knew" Michael was guilty all along!

Thanks for sharing.
You appear to be talking from an insiders perspective, can I ask whether you have had any access to footage/confidential information
I'm not 100% sure what I'm legally allowed to speak on so I stay extra careful. I've also made some promises that I have to stay true to..

Once I can, I'll share a lot more.

Haven't read the article, would someone be kind enough to sum it up please? Is FC claiming MJ abused him now?
not a summary but these are the important quotes here i think
In a petition to compel arbitration submitted to Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday (July 9) and obtained by Billboard, the Jackson estate identifies Frank Cascio as the man behind an alleged $213 million extortion attempt reported last fall. Articles at the time said the estate had brought an arbitration demand against an accuser, at that point anonymous, who was trying to secure a financial windfall despite inking a binding settlement years earlier.
Filling in some gaps in that account, Wednesday’s petition says Cascio launched a “shakedown” of the Jackson estate when the HBO docuseries Leaving Neverland amplified years of child sexual abuse claims against the deceased pop superstar in 2019. According to the estate, Cascio and his associates “decided it was their turn to profit from making specious accusations against their dear friend” despite having been staunch defenders of Jackson for more than 30 years.
As the petition puts it, Jackson’s estate “reluctantly” agreed to pay Cascio a settlement in 2020 — which previous reporting has tallied at $3.3 million — without admitting any wrongdoing and in exchange for a promise that any future disputes would be decided in confidential arbitration. But Cascio allegedly violated that agreement last year by threatening to file a public lawsuit unless he and his associates were paid $213 million more.
Those alleged threats led the Jackson estate to bring a private arbitration demand for extortion, which remains pending before the mediation firm Signature Resolution. Now, the estate says Cascio’s newly retained celebrity attorney, Mark Geragos, is once again threatening to bring a public lawsuit unless they satisfy a fresh demand of $44 million.

In looney California, you can't press charges for extortion unless you pay the extortioner and/or give into their demand first.

So in other words you have to choose between getting justice, but having it framed as you paying the accuser off. Or not paying and then extortioner basically gets off scot free and if they go public you reputation is still ruined.

That's how evan Chandler was able to get away with extorting Michael. Because Michael refused to pay him.

Here's a link to the article without the paywall:

The crazy part is that Frank Cascio's lawyer is Mark Geragos. The same Mark Geragos who actually REPRESENTED MJ in 2004 before he was replaced by Tom Mesareau is now attacking the MJ estate.

I know this is off-topic and has nothing to do with the movie, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Michael lost big time. $20 Millon in settlement of the civil suit in 1993. Evan did ruin his reputation. Chandlers accusations is the mother of all accusations that opened the floodgates ...Arvisos and in death WTF with the Cascios

Michael still lost big time. $20 Million in civil suit settlement in 1993....the mother of all accusations. Evan Chandler did ruin his reputation. Non disclosures did not help either. Chandler's 1993 accusations opened the floodgates of ALL accusations following later with the Arvisos...in spite of 10 counts of NOT guilty still left Michael a broken man and in death with WTF Robson & Safechuck and the f**King Cascios. There should be a law made PUNISHABLE for FALSE ALLEGATIONS and ATTEMPTED EXTORTION, not after the fact that you've paid the extortioner. Get a warrant...subpoena phone recordings from the telcos.
Michael was and still is LOW HANGING fruit for the grifters, extortionist & money grabbers out there if he gets no protection from the law

Sorry ...it looks like is acting up on me pardon the multiple posts didn't mean to

Back to the topic. Has anyone seen recent updates or twitter/ x posts about the reshoots?
Haven't seen anything. Someone posted a photo that looked like there was some filming activity outside a house that (apparently) Quincy used to live in but nobody seemed to know if it was linked in any way to the biopic. I didn't bother to post it bc I didn't see any of those official notices that get posted when a film company is doing a location shoot. The only reason I'm even mentioning it is bc it illustrates how bored / desperate people are. I'm not criticising whoever posted the photo, btw.

Otoh, I haven't checked for quite a few days. And I don't check as diligently as I used to. Feeling quite detached from it, tbh ...

Someone did announce that they are now making their own Michael biopic. That did make me laugh!

The Film is Not in the good Stars… the children Are in fight Agains the Estate … the Casio thing … what comes next oh Yeah the 2026 trial!

I think no news is a good thing at the minute, it gives everyone chance to knuckle down and finish this biopic

If it moves to 2026, I wonder when they'll announce it?

Related (but not directly) news: Legendary Entertainment is considering to buy Lionsgate. Legend Entertainment is co owned by Wanda Group (Chinese based company) and Apollo Global Management (US based company).

As a reminder, the film is a Lionsgate production with US distribution being Lionsgate and globally with Universal Pictures... Legend Entertainment has a partnership with Universal Pictures.

You can make of it what you'd like.
