Michael Jackson Estate Reveals Confidential Project in Works

Would that be over on TikTok ? Could someone post John's video please?

My guess is it will turn out to be nothing major, another MJ themed show or some kind of permanent exhibit in US or just the biopic. Do don't hold your breath!!

I am all for a Michael Jackson museum, but not a casino. I don't want Michael's name to be associated with betting and gambling.

Only MJ fans would look at a something as legacy-solidifying as a museum and say, “We WaNt CoNcErTs!!1!”
Mike is known as the "greatest performer ever to exist", yet only has 2 official concerts released out of hundreds. I get your point, but it's justified no matter which project is coming. Someone does not want to literally see him shine

There has only been one person in here that has said that..
Let's me be second 🙂. I want both, love the idea of museum it's solid, it's there for everyone and I would probably never be able to visit it. I am also selfish, and want live performance in HD that I can actually see and enjoy.

Yeah well the two aren’t mutually exclusive. We can both get a museum and HD concerts :)

A museum is a great idea. And of course it will and should be placed in the US.

Then international fans must go to US if they wanna see… like Graceland and also like This Is It in London… if you wanna see you have to go to the place the concert is…

I am from Denmark - but hopefully I will one day be able to go to The US and visit the museum.

I dont care much about a casino, but I am not against it really. Didn’t MJ himself talk about making a casino while he was alive?

A museum is a great move by The Estate. Much Better than a biopic IMO.

A MJ-museum is really a positve news. I hope it will be Hayvenhurst. I has so much spirit from Michael. I think it is a like a litte Neverland.

Nah, can't you see he's protecting MJ's legacy? Refusing to promote or even acknowledge Thriller 40, making released songs sound worse than they were, not releasing new content, making projects that are only available in very certain parts of the world of which most fans won't be able to consume, putting out shitty looking t-shirts/hoodies/masks on their website, never acknowledging MJ's career past the 80's, releasing fake songs, lying and lying more to the fans. Be happy about it. Btw new biopic coming soon.
To be fair, the 2nd thing is not his fault. It's the engineers fault.

I don't want to be constantly negative on here but I really don't want a biopic.

I don't think it will do Michael's legacy justice and I don't think there is a human being alive that can capture his essence, without coming across as parody.
I think it's more doable now than it was even 5 years ago. But it's not gonna be easy or perfect. Unless they truly go wild with it

Gotta disagree. As co-executors of the estate, Branca and McClain should represent the finish line of quality assurance. They should’ve slammed on the breaks as soon as these mixes/masters were turned in and demanded better, or changed engineers.
I understand that they play a role in it, but they've been experimenting a lot it seems, and some efforts sound better than others. They should just not give certain people chances. But, the sound quality was already getting worse when MJ and Bruce Swedien were alive, and they were the best about it, so what's the standard at this point? They can't do any worse than TUC.

Hopefully they clean up Gary,Indiana first before anything. They idea sounds really good (except the casino part) but realistically, Gary is not a very safe place to visit

What makes your opinion more valuable than anyone else's?

It's my opinion that a museum is an exciting project for MJ's current fans, and maybe tourists - but is MJ's legacy material items, or his music and showmanship? Elvis has Graceland, Dolly Parton has Dollywood - neither of these things "solidify" a legacy, there's just places fans and tourists visit.

Not to be too negative but I hope it's not one of those projects like the MJ One or the musical where it's only available in some parts of the world and not accessible to most fans. Getting really tired of those.
Like most Broadway plays it'll will probably tour in other countries at some point🤞

I would never say or suggest that.

In my opinion, a museum serves a greater and more viable purpose to an artist’s legacy than random releases. How many of Elvis’s posthumous releases solidified, or even made a significant impact on, his legacy? How about Prince’s? Or Lennon’s? Concerts and albums are fun trinkets for longtime fans, but they seldom hold a candle to the artist’s core body of work. Now, in fairness, a museum likely wouldn’t completely turn the tides either, but I would argue that there is more long-term value in a permanent public establishment at Hayvenhurst than a random 1988 show that the general public will pay no mind to and will be forgotten within two weeks of its release (or even an album, despite my hunger for new MJ music).

What can be expected to be showcased in a museum. Are the original costumes still around? gold records? a wax Michael? HIStory statue? Free mystery drinks  ?

I would totally go if there was a listening booth for unheard tracks  though I imagine there would be riots to get in

Yeah, aside from just playing MJ's classic music, remastering it, etc, it's things like this that liven up the brand and keep MJ relevant as a historical element. And adds more credentials as a true artist.

I think some fans secretly don't like the idea of things like these that force them to admit that MJ is gone and there can't be a "comeback". By the exact same token, that is why Xscape as a proposition made the biggest impact posthumously, after This Is It. It reminded us what we lost and what could have been, MJ as a dominant force in the modern age. The idea admittedly may be more tantalizing than the results, but fans expect it every time, a hidden, unparalleled smash hit.

But he is now a classic, legacy artist and that's important too. And we would be at that stage anyway.

For the people that just want a box set of everything, this comment need not apply.

MJ stays forever young in the fans minds but even alive he wouldn't be scoring hits anymore. Even in 2001 he wasn't big big anymore. He was big in name only by this time. Like all legacy acts they are only still good for sell out live shows. Bad promotion or not the fact is that the 2nd single "cry" flopped all over the world which prematurely ended the chances of Invincible. As a result Invincible dropped out of the Belgian charts top 50 after 6 weeks. Yes you read that right, 6 weeks! After debuting at nr 1 it dropped like a stone.
To make a comparison HIStory charted for 71 weeks of which 18 weeks in the top 10. Even the half arsed remix album BOTDF held the top 10 position for 15 weeks.

For those who doubt that, look at Madonna who's hits have also completely dried up and she was a bonafide hit machine for over 30 years. You can't beat time.
