Michael Jackson Scream - The Album

Re: MJ - Scream: THE NEW PROJECT

Would rather an Xscape style album with top producers involved. Then again, this could be good, Immortal wasn't the best but maybe this could improve on it.

Aye, look what I found.

Here's a link to where it takes me when I click the link (nothing to do with MJ comes up when you click the link, so maybe a page isn't set up for it yet.)
https://www.gufilmhouse.com.au/movies/nowshowing

I haven't explored the website yet but it appears to be a website about movies, here's a link the the front page of the website.

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

It's most likely a compilation of existing (remixed?) material related to the animated Halloween movie.

If the movie's well received by its core target audience, the songs will reach a younger generation.

I can't with all the horror themed releases lined up though - Thriller 3D, the Halloween movie and Scream! Nope, SERIOUSLY LOVING IT!

After such a dry spell too

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Hmm....interesting, curious to see how this all unfolds in the coming days.

Re: MJ - Scream: THE NEW PROJECT

according to John Branca, will be a new project. maybe a new album.

will be released from September 29, Michael Jackson may release posthumous album the same day as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Jennifer Lopez.
and of course we know who will win the first place :p

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

I'm really confused. Is it an album release or cinema release? Or both?

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Wonder if it's a video collection along with a new compilation CD. They were showing off music videos on big screams at that Scream party (see MJ's Instagram story), and given Thrillers recent restoration it wouldn't be too hard to imagine them restoring some others, perhaps? Would make a great little Blu-ray + CD set.

That plus the cinema listing, although it'd be weird to go to the cinema and watch a bunch of music videos.

Also, Event Cinemas is a huge cinema chain here in New Zealand/Aussie (going back to the discussion on Page 1).

This: https://youtu.be/MexW0uM822s
Compilation of horror influenced music. I can hear some new sound at the end... not part of a current song...

Probably an album involving all of MJ's horror theme songs. Not expecting anything new but I'm still excited nonetheless. I'm hoping they also release Ghosts, Making of Ghosts & Making of Thriller alongside as well.

Track list would probably be

1) Thriller
2) Heartbreak Hotel
3) Ghosts
4) Is It Scary
5) Threatened
6) Little Susie
7) 2 Bad
8) Somebody Watching Me
9) Probably some crappy remix
10) Ditto
11) Ditto

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Michael Prince said they were working on a track called Monster during the Invincible sessions, it was a completely different song from that Cascio track abomination though. It could be fitting for this project but it looks like a another compilation/remix album.

Now this is news i like to read.
:)

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Sounds great.

I guess it could be a release to support the animated Halloween Special.

If it's an album with horror-themed song I think it will include songs like:

1. Thriller
2. Is It Scary
3. Ghosts
4. Little Susie
5. Scared of the Moon
6. Threatened
7. Blood on the Dancefloor - since it's in the trailer
8. Dangerous
9. Scream - since it's the album title
10. Somebody's Watching Me
11. 2 BAD

I don't think we should hope for new songs with this project (hope I'm wrong of course...) and I hope they have not mixed/changed the songs too much.

Spot on. Based on info we have this is the only logical explanation. Basically a soundtrack of songs used in the Halloween show.

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Interesting to see the influences in the 'Scream' title artwork.

They seem to have moved away from the traditional 'Thriller'-type dripping blood, and moved more into 'Psychological horror' film territory (with the offset lettering of scream, indicating a 'fractured psyche). The 'Michael Jackson' typography appears to relate more to 'ghost' films of the past, eg 'Poltergeist'. However, 'Michael Jackson' letters are not complete, making you think of MJ 'with no beginning and no end'.

Visually, I still don't like the look of these two typographies together, as they 'argue' rather than being 'all of a piece'. (I think part of the dissonance is because the 'MJ' lettering is very rounded and friendly-looking, whereas the 'Scream ' lettering is very sharp....the M's are straight-sided). However, I like the trailer imagery, with the spider and cat instead of a wolf (as MJ was a 'werecat'), and the purple / black / white colouration is great.

The spider in the video, incidentally, has a fedora and MJ's:

We didn't get Dangerous 25. But we are probably getting a Halloween remix album to support the tv show. How great. Yey.

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

I like the look of the Scream font. I think the font used for 'Michael Jackson' actually feels a tiny bit dated (Idk I see it and I think '2009' '2010'). Going back to your Hitchcock comparison, it'd be cool if the font moved around kind of like it does in the actual opening for Psycho!

Anyone who hasn't seen this masterpiece watch it now!

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Dirty Diana in the beginning and Leave me alone at the end?!

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Hopefully Threatened gets the recognition it deserves if it's included

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

So would you guys buy this if this is just some compilation album with old songs and maybe remixes? I wouldn't.

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

So if I'm understanding it right the new album is an album with released songs reimagined as horror/scary tracks?

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

if it will be enjoyable, why not?

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Blood on the Dance Floor too - as it is in the trailer.

If they release a Blu-ray with Thriller, Ghosts and the respective "Makings of" in HQ that would be Christmas brought forward to me. Ghosts has never been released in any modern format, nor the Making of Thriller, so it's long overdue. And they could make it more exciting by including never before seen behind the scenes footage.

I'm totally on board with this idea. Ghosts deserves a much better release than that VCD it was released on. It needs to be updated: DVD, Blu-Ray or both. VH1's The Making of Ghosts in addition to the Making of Thriller would be nice as well.

If the songs are remixed (unnecessary), then no I won't be buying this. It's a disservice to MJ to "contemporize" (that word the Estate likes to use) his timeless music that has already stood the test of time.

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Sounds like an Immortal Mix. This, I can get behind

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

Of course I'll buy it :D Even if it's only remixes.. if they're as great as ghe immortal ones, why not? I think the artwork is great, by the way. :) Can't wait to hear more about it!

@ HIStoric, You took me on a bit of a journey through film titles there :) I hadn't looked at the actual film titles themselves, just the film poster. )

The 'Psycho' titles were created by Saul and Elaine Bass, who also created:
Walk on the Wild Side (Cats eyes reference to Scream)

'West Side Story' (Graffiti titles like 'Off the Wall' )

and (for John Landis) the titles/ poster for 'The Blues Brothers' (which, like 'Scream' majors on black white and red):

Also, while looking through the 'John Landis references, I came across a blog which talks about recording the soundtrack for 'An American werewolf in London', in a studio in Barnes (London), with John Landis, Elmer Bernstein and Christopher Palmer.

It would be interesting to see / hear 'An American Werewolf' with the alternative 'transformation' music! :)

If it's just a CD I won't buy, but I'll stream.

Re: New Album Coming September 29? Posters Located in Germany

If they remix the song with the original multitracks then this shit can be great! Like they did with immortal.
