Thriller 25 in its 8th week on the United World Chart drops 1 place this week to No.9 selling 93,000 copies.

This brings the total sales of Thriller 25 according to the countries covered by mediatraffic to 1,565,000 copies.

Michael Jackson's Thriller 25 returns to #1 on the Hot Catalog Albums chart. The pop classic sold 18,000 copies this week, which would have placed it #33 on the main chart if older, catalog albums were allowed to compete there. This is the album's eighth week atop the catalog chart.

sweeet!! if Mj releases his new album this year...it would also allow Thriller 25 to surge in sales.

Imprint: Legacy/Epic
Distributing Label: Sony BMG

From what I have:
USA: 469 000
France: 166 659
UK: 90 957
Italy: 7000
Australia: 12 790
Switzerland: 15 000
Denmark: 16 800
Spain: 40 000
Mexico: 50 000
Poland: 20 000
Japan: 81 000
Canada: 16 000
Brazil: 10 000

This is a mix between real sales and shipments, but at least it's confirmed figures.
Only with these countries, total is 1 146 406 so worldwide, should be near 2 000 000

Why is that difficult to have soundscan sales for all the other albums of Mike in the US? We used to have some every 2 months.

Some of thoe figures are about right but some are off quite a bit. In the UK Thriller 25 has sold between 180,000-200,000 copies and in the US the figures that we have are around 493,000 but its likely that its already surpassed the 500,000 mark due to lack of soundscan results and the fact that RIAA certified it Gold. Sales in Canada are over 50,000 copies and are probably nearer the 100,000 mark and in Australia Thriller 25 has sold 80,000 copies +. The rest seem about right though :).

To answer your question, soundscan are a monopoly which is very expensive and don't care about the fans, it's for the industry really and they go after people who post their numbers without permission. Now having said that i have a nice update :)

Thanks to two posters at UKMIX here is updated soundscan totals for Thriller and other catalog albums on the pop catalog chart. Cumulative sales are through the week ending April 13, 2008.

Soundscan in the USA is counting Thriller SE and Thriller 25 sales together. Listed below you will also see sales from the original version of Thriller those sales are from when soundscan started in May 1991:

Updated soundscan totals :

168,000 IN DENMARK ?????????????????????

Hopespringseternal, thank you very much! You are always the one who gets the figures that nobody have! :)
Sales in the US are really impressive. Since my latest update, Essential sold 100k and Number Ones 220k.

For the other albums, this is what I have (not updated since... don't even remember, even though I like to follow MJ sales):
Greatest Hits Vol1: 900 720
Invincible: 2 097 000
Dangerous SE: 132 995
Bad SE: 218 140
Thriller SE: 1 005 488. To this figure I would add 27 000 000 of shipments of the regular version and 469 000 of Thriller 25.
Thriller has been certified 27x on April 2005, should definitely be 29x taking into account sales of more than 1.5 million

Hey there friend, our old friend who kept us in the know Jim is rather consumed with lady Madonna right now so that's part of why we haven't gotten figures in quite some time from him, this one of those lucky times that this guy on UKMIX name oldbloke decided to post the updated info, im very grateful to him.

In its 10th week in the Irish album charts, Thriller 25 has fallen 14 places to no.46.

More than 200,000 copies have been sold (or shipped) in France, which means it should be platinum soon:D
And I think 168,000 figure for Thriller in Denmark is the cumulative sale of Thriller since 1982?

Most of the figures you have are from April 2007 when we last got a full picture of Michael's soundscan. Since then getting updates has been very virtually impossible. To give you a view here is a list compiled with figures from a year ago and sales that I have been able to get with a more recent date will have the latest date next to them. Also remember soundscan is counting Thriller SE/Thriller 25 together they share the same bar code. I hope this helps:

April 2007

1. Dangerous (Original): 5,785,000
2. HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (2-CD): 2,540,000
3. Invincible: 2,100,540-as of January 26, 2008
4. Thriller (SE)/Thriller 25: 1,561,097-as of April 13, 2008
