Theses articles are old and I dont know how truthful/valid it is? I thought it was Loyds of London who insured MJs concerts? Hm. Take a look. I thougt it would be interesting with discussion about the insurance again here.

London based insurers of Michael Jackson's 'This is It' tour, are balking at paying the multi-million dollar insurance cover to AEG, alleging they were given a false health report.
Robertson Taylor, London based insurers of Michael Jackson's 'This is It' tour, are balking at paying the multi-million dollar insurance cover to AEG, alleging they were given a false health report.

Weeks before the scheduled start of the London concerts, Dr David Slavit examined Jackson and filed a glowing health report painting Jackson so healthy it appeared he had "the body of a Nasa astronaut," says a Robertson Taylor official

The health report did not mention any of Michael's existing health problems, like his burnt out scalp from the Pepsi commercial, reports OK! magazine.

When the insurance brokers sent their doctor to examine Jackson, the doctor was turned back and told the pop star was unable to see him.

An insurance cover policy was provisionally inked subject to a repeat test scheduled on July 11. Jackson died on June 25.

A spokesperson for AEG says, "AEG did not hire any doctor at any time in connection with securing insurance. Dr David Slavit performed the medical exam which was submitted to the insurers as part of their underwriting. AEG has never received a copy of Dr Slavit's medical exam. A second medical examination was scheduled in the U.K. when the tour arrived."

Interestingly, Slavit is one of the doctors being investigated by LA coroner officials and has been subjected to a court ordered search.

Michael Jackson's medical examination record has gone missing. Insurers for the late pop icon's "This Is It" 50-date London residency were astounded when the report they received from Dr. David Slavit declared the singer to be in perfect health, joking it appeared to have been "based on the body of an astronaut."

An AEG spokesperson said: "AEG did not hire a doctor at any time in connection with securing insurance. Dr. David Slavit performed the medical exam which was submitted to the insurers as part of their underwriting."

"AEG has never received a copy of Dr. Slavit's medical exam. A second medical examination was scheduled in the U.K. when the tour arrived. The policy was issued in a fictitious name."...

No-one has actually seen Dr. Slavit's original records of the medical and Robertson Jackson had wanted to do a full examination on July 11, the day after seeing the "Bad" hitmaker perform a planned full rehearsal at London's O2 arena, where the shows were scheduled to take place.

Interesting article and interesting too that Dr. David Slavit is under investigation by the LAPD. They must cover all their bases. It is very strange that no health concerns of any kind were mentioned at all in the report when it was common knowledge that Michael suffered flare ups of back pain after the bridge collapse in Munich in 1999. Also, glaucoma medication was found at his bedside so that should have been mentioned as well. I'm not entirely sure if you can hear chronic inflamed lungs by listening to them ? They probably sound differently than healthy lungs.

Was Dr Slavit paid or bribed to give a very positive medical exam outcome ? It makes me wonder because here this too doesn't add up.
How on earth can the report go missing ?
Who is lying ?
Either someone is lying about the medical report and what's in it and "lost" it
Or the 'good' doctor was bribed.
Did Dr Slavit, by any chance, have money problems too ?

There was one report (I'd have to hunt it up) that said when the doctor arrived to do the exam, he was turned away by body-guards and the physical exam never, even, happened. (I tend to believe this.) That's why they'd scheduled one for London, in July. We know Michael had back-pain, on-and-off. Glaucoma? Maybe. Inflamed lungs? There should have been a way to tell that in an exam. These were all "pre-existing conditions." "Body of an astronaut?" I don't see how AEG can even SAY that, given that they never saw any exam results.

I think AEG has largely given up pursuing a policy pay-out, and has recouped losses in other ways, and has even profited. If they pursue the insurance and it's proven fraudulent, they could be in BIG trouble.

What can we find out about Slavit?

Michael Jackson Death Investigation: Who Is Doctor David Slavit?

August 25, 2009 6:16 PM PDT

NEW YORK, New York -- Doctor Conrad Murray has been the center of police and media attention since the death of Michael Jackson on June 25 at the age of 50, but a number of other doctors names have been brought up recently in legal documents, including that of Dr. David Slavit.

Slavit, an ear-nose-and-throat specialist, based in New York City, administered Michael Jackson's physical in February of this year, which the pop star reportedly passed. The physical report allowed Lloyd's of London to issue the insurance policy on the pop star, under the name of "Mark Jones," according to the Los Angeles Times, to AEG Live in relation to his London concert dates.

So who is Slavit?
So far, the doctor has remained quiet in the aftermath of Jackson's death on June 25 at the age of 50, despite requests for comment from various media outlets. Access Hollywood is amongst the outlets that have requested interviews with him and have been turned down.

A receptionist for the doctor reportedly told Britain's Mirror newspaper, "He will not be speaking."
But some details have emerged despite the doctor's silence.
According to the NY Post, Slavit, 48, has previously treated singers including Margaret Lattimore, a mezzo-soprano, who has been nominated for a Grammy.

"There's nobody I would trust more with my voice," Lattimore reportedly told the paper. "He's a fabulous doctor. Very discreet, incredibly professional, and the gentlest, sweetest man you can imagine."
Slavit, 48, is married to wife Robin, 49, and the couple lives in New Jersey with three children, the Mirror previously reported.

His father, Leonard Slavit, is a lawyer and defended his son in a lawsuit in 1999 over alleged unpaid rent, which was settled out of court, according to the NY Post.
"I found him to be completely dishonest or I wouldn't have had to sue him to get the money he owed me. I eventually got it," Dr. Howard Belin reportedly told the NY Post. Dr. Belin rented space in his NYC townhouse to Slavit and claims Slavit left before paying $41,000 in unpaid rent and $12,000 in damages, he told the paper.

As for his relation to Jackson, according to AEG Live's Randy Phillips, Slavit was, "hired by the insurance carriers" for the physical.

"[He] was hired by the insurance carriers to come out here," Phillips previously told Access Hollywood. "He gave Michael a pretty grueling five-hour physical and did all the tests...we were never privy to the patient doctor information, which we wouldn't be. But our insurance broker told us that Michael passed with flying colors - those were the words -- and all he had was a little hay fever."

Phillips said AEG received the policy, which would not have been issued without the physical report.
"We got an insurance policy because of the physical," Phillips told Access. "Lloyd's of London would not have given us a policy if there was something wrong in that physical."

According to the LA Times, per a reported deal with AEG, if any of the $17.5 million policy is eventually paid, 100% will go to the Jackson estate.

It makes no sense that if AEG got the insurance in case of Michael's illness, injury, or cancellation, that the money would go to the estate? That's not how it works. Those taking out the policy get the pay-out. Maybe AEG just decided not to pursue this because they KNEW it was shady?

See bolded parts above. "Completely dishonest?"
