Instead of Michael promoting T25, most of it has been done by Thrillicious and the Thriller Live dancers. I know the album has done very well without new videos but I thought there would have been more from Michael himself. Like interviews and public appearances.

Does anyone else have the same view??

I have the same view.. Mike posed for Ebony and L'Vogue and that was it. He hasn't promoted this album at all. Sobe, the lizards and Naomi have promoted more than MJ has.

I am very confused about it too. I am also baffled at the complete silence that we're experiencing. Mike and his team etc, are basically not informing us of anything. I don't know if that's good or bad;)

I think I recall that towards the end of 2007 he said that were big things that were going to happen to promote the album. I cant remember where he said this.

Personally I think he is saving all his side of promotion etc for his new album. Anyway to be honest Thriller 25 is doing perfectly fine without huge promotion and that is a huge achievement in itself.

I'm not denying the success that it's achieved. I just expected more from Michael himself. Its not that time consuming to do a small interview or just, for one day, go to the music store to promote it.

He did the L'uomo Vogue and the Ebony photoshoots and Ebony magazine contained an interview and then he gave a video message to the NRJ Music Awards in France so it isn't like he hasn't done anything. As I said before Michael probably wants to save all the big surprise and promotion for the new album.

I mean physically he's not going out and meeting the public/fans. He could have performed one or two songs on a TV show/special or he could have performed at the NRL Awards, Grammy Awards, Brit Awards. He is not taking them opportunities to promote the album like he used to.

Why keep the promotion waiting for the new album? He should be focusing on promoting what he has done now.

Maybe he wants to wait until he has new material to perform. Thriller 25 is just a re-release and most artists really don't do much promotion for re-issues, for example, I didn't really see U2 go out to promote their re-release of The Joshua Tree nor did I see any kind of promotion for Alanis Morisette's acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill.

Also its possible that Michael is trying to gage how much he can sell without appearances and by marketing through other means etc the Sobe Thrillicious adverts and myspace, youtube and Thrillercast. It could be his way of testing other mediums of promoting and how successful that can market a product.

That's a good point but it wouldn't hurt to see him collaborate live on stage with Akon and others that helped him with T25. I think he owes them. Poor Fergie hasn't even met Michael and she recorded 'Beat It' for the album.

Well Akon said that Michael might be singing on a song on Akon's new album coming out later this year so there's your answer. Plus Fergie mentioned recently that Michael has said that he liked her rendition of Beat It which leads me think that they might have spoken on the phone.

I would prefer a better thank you than a telephone conversation.

He could have thanked her on the phone and there's nothing to say that he might not meet her in the future and thank her in person especially since he is working with Will I Am who knows her well.

I never expected Michael to do anything other than work on the remixes.. I am even suprised that he made a via satilight appearance at an award show and mentioned it..

REASON..

Thriller 25 is a promotional tool.. There is no reason to come out with a new Thriller album.. Everything about it, the way it was done, who he worked with etc.. Was all in aim to get his music to a younger generation. To show todays young people what Michael is about.. Many Will.i.am, fergie, kanye West, and Akon fans bought the album JUST because they are a fan of that person(s).. But they were introduced to a FULL Michael Jackson album..

It's great PR work.. Michael style has always to make himself scares before an album.. To get people talking about him, get that ground swell going.. THEN BAM!!

SURPIZE..

everything is always so 'hush, hush'...........

I mean look at what's going on right now.. the technique in everything.. Just pay attention..

1) Thriller 25
2) MJ's music being used on various commercials (walmart, tv show series)
3) Sony kept deleting and re adding MJ's videos on his youtube page.. WHY?? lol! well if you notice they always have the 2 newest videos from that person on the top of the page when you type that persons name in.. They keep chosing different songs throughout Michaels career to be highlighted to be at the top of the list.. People always click on those top 2.. I mean just in the past week TDCA has jumped from 25,000 to well over 130,000 hits within just days.. Remember The TIme is up to 115,000 now.. that does something, these 2 videos have only been up for 1 week..
4) Today on MSN online they are showing DANGEROUS tour.. When was the last time u knew Sony to do that?? It's not a THRILLER thing, it's a MICHAEL JACKSON thing..

they are getting him out there, advertizing him without it being IN YOUR FACE and obvious that something is going on..

It's getting the GROUND SWELL BREWING..

Thriller 25 was not really about THRILLER, it was promotion for MICHAEL before he releases his new album...

KOPV,

I see your point, but will it work for new material? Michael is going to have to appear at some point, he can't hide forever if he's trying to make a "comeback"

it will work for new material..

What they are doing now is reminding people.. leaking him into todays society in a positive light..

ways that allegations and negtivity cannot come up... simply by his art..

This will put people in a state of mind that is more welcoming to him..

it's promoting himself without letting people know about the album.. It may be too early to promote an album..

if u notice MJ usually announces his album within just weeks or a couple months prior to it's first single..

He does not like telling people, overtime ppl 4get about it, and not as pumped when it does.. It's a mind game.

u create interest, then u use that hype.. U build on it when needed, u leave it alone when you can..

Once Michael makes an announcement everything will come quickly after that..

Michael will come out soon.. how soon? IDK.. but as right before the album comes out, he will announce it, release a first single, have a video and do the damn thing BIG..

a lot of artists are pretty dumb.. They announce they are working on a album months, like sometimes a year prior to its release.. by the time it comes out, the 'RUSH' that people had when they first heard about wore off..

with Mike.. it's like IN UR FACE.. People are fickle, and are speratic.. he uses that for an advantage.. using peoples speratic tendancies..

Getting people HYPED, then give it to em..

If Michael were out there aggressively promoting Thriller 25, I am willing to bet that the same number of people (in fact some of the same people) now complaining about his lack of promotion would then start complaining that Michael is "living in the past" and "celebrating the old with nothing new to promote." Like many things in Michael's life, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Anyways, Thriller 25 is expected to continue being promoted throughout the rest of the year, and the year is still young so anything could happen.

I agree with everything that KOPV is saying. I think that both Michael and Sony are looking at how T25 is being received by the public. They should know now that Michael is stil loved by many and that the new album is gonna do well and long as the melodies and the music are good.

I think that Michael is gonna have two of the biggest selling albums of 2008....T25 and the new one.

Do the right thing at the right time.

You want to get the biggest attention on the new album, not the re-release. And hype is spontaneous, not sustaining, you want to grasp the perfect time when the hype is the biggest when the new album comes out. That's the right time for huge promotion.

If there's a lot of promotion from the king now, I'm not sure if the hype can stay high for months, or even until next year.

Moreover, currently, like what the previous fans have mentioned, this album is a test to see how the market receives Michael. So it is better to let the music speaks itself, instead of letting Michael to be over-exposed.

The best is yet to come.

KOPV u da man lol. U hit every point. Wh ocares about him promoting thriller 25, its just a remix album with an unreleased track, so promotion isnt really needed. WHy would he do full blown promotion for it anyway, he didnt promote the special editions neither. So hey i dont feel bad about it. Wait till the new album drops. Promotion will be in full circulation!

Another..........great.........post!

Remember what I said yesterday about the exposer techniques??

well since my post yesterday TDCA got 25,000 more posts..

It's over 155,000..

25,000 in less than 24 hours.. that's over 1000 hits per hour

he was suppposed to be on the Grammys and BET Honors, but pulled out at the last minute.

So!

Michael will make his appearance when it is most beneficial to him. And I think that will be when he released his first single.

I frankly am soo happy Michael hasn't really promoted a 25 yr old album.
I don't really see people promoting rereleases anyway. It really doesn't make any sense to me why he would do that.
He should focus more on his new album and do promotion for that and not have people thinking "he's living in the past" and having non fans who don't what they're talking about saying "michael's only good album is Thriller" like others have mentioned before.

no one is saying promote aggressively, but he's not even being seen at all-_- don't you guys find that strange?

@ jaydom7: You miss him, huh? Me too. But I wouldn´t call his absence strange...He has his 3 children and a lot to do for his new album. Of course he´s not the time to dance on every party. He´s always too busy.
Britney S. hasn´t promoted her NEW album and no one is complaining.
Michaels new album will be worth to promote it, brace yourself.

I'm glad that Michael is not doing any promotion for "Thriller 25". It would just make it seem like he was living in the past if he did that. It's smart of him to keep a low profile.
