Michael - The Great Album Debate

Ok,people.Let’s change the mood and try a brand new theory.
When Paul Anka claimed This Is It was stolen from him,it was John McClain who called him and said, "Now we know why the song was so good ... it wasn't the type of Michael Jackson song that he could write."When controversy surfaced that some people suspected it was not Michael singing on Cascio tracks,we had John Branca and Howard Weitzman calling Jason Malachi’s manager to check.Where is Mr McClain? Are you OK,sir?
John McClain was at odds with Cascio brothers.Nobody wanted to let their disagreement go public.

it wasn't the type of Michael Jackson song, who could write? Because if John is referring to Michael Jackson as the 'he' who couldn't write the song, i question anybody who thinks they know about a song after the fact. i question him anyway, because he says he knew after the fact. If it's Michael he's referring to, 'Speechless' sounds similar but much better. And Michael has a bmi listing of the song 'This Is It'. Although we will probably get in trouble for discussing something outside of the Michael album.

That was an insult to MJ! This is it is a good song but it sure as hell doesn't compare to many songs MJ wrote. And I thought Anka looked stupid goin around whinning MJ stole his song. lol He could have handle the situation better aswell as those who took the song without knowing any of it's background which gave MJ bad press as someone who stole songs. SMH As if! That was another fail coming I see now before the Michael album dropped.

Maybe John McClain was just being sarcastic towards Paul Anka?

:wtf2 McClain really said that? Because it explains a lot about a lot if he did.

Yeah, that's strange. I also thought that Paul Anka just came up with the piano parts and Michael came up with the vocal melodies over the top. For Love Never Felt So Good and This Is It. Weren't those both Anka collaborations? Anyway, I thought they both worked on the songs together, it took both of them. This Is It wouldn't be as good without piano and it wouldn't be as good without Michael's vocals.

Today Friedman wrote this

I don’t know if Sony had producers fiddle with these tracks to make them sound more modern. They could very well have been augmented. But I hope the Jackson fans don’t try to destroy them the way they did the songs on the “Michael” album. Like those tracks, these are completely real, they’re Michael Jackson’s vocals, and they’re a wonderful reminder of the King of Pop at his zenith.

KingMikeJ replied

This paragraph ruined the article.

But I have no doubt that these will be authentic Michael Jackson songs, I don't think the same mistake would be made twice. If it is though, I won't be afraid to "destroy them".

Pentum replied

Trying hard to ignore the part about MJ fans "destroying" fake music.

OnirMJ replied

And accusing fans for "destroying" MICHAEL album and comparing Bad outtakes with fake Cascio songs. What's up with that? Is he still on the payroll by Cascios? Fans didn't destroy MICHAEL album. Sony and John Branca did.

StellaJackson replied

Yeah. His desperation to defend the fakes on the Michael album is pathetic.

OnirMJ replied

I agree. He is a liar. He claimed that he heard Cascio songs with Porte vocals recorded before Michael even came to their house. He also claimed that he heard Cascio songs with Michael's vocals and that his vocals are amazing before album was released.

OnirMJ replied

I agree with you. This should be about Bad 25. And Friedman knows that too. But he still mentions it every time he gets a chance (like his Don't Be Messin' Around article). It is apparent to me that he has an agenda and that he is doing that deliberately.

And in this particular article he accused fans for "destroying" Michael Jackson's album! I think the fans should have the right to defend them self.

Please continue the relevant discussion on this thread. Thank you.

LOL @ MJ fans destroyed the album Michael :D In his next article what is he going to write about? That we killed MJ?

About what Roger Friedman said:

It's a given that Michael has the most loyal fans in the world. And despite all the tabloid stories, accusations etc, they remained loyal. And if these fans are offended by songs released after his death, that means something. Every other artist would be glad to have such fans, who care that much.

And don't worry Roger: Michael's fans won't 'destroy' (wasn't much left to destroy, hehehe) something good.

Exactly...and it'd be nice to not be berated for being concerned about the details of these songs and wanting more information...It's all done out of passion for MJ ...

Hm I thought it was the Cascio songs that destroyed the Michael album, that and lack of good promotion. I think you kind of had to have an eye out for Michael Jackson in general to even hear about it. Hold My Hand was played for about a day on the radio here, I heard of others never hearing it at all. Can't really say the same for those damn Katy Perry and Adele songs.

I don't think the label has much faith in Michael Jackson's music anymore, as he is not hip and cool compared to Nicki Minaj and Usher. He is still viewed as very strange by many, especially in the conservative heartland of America(where I'm from). In European countries, etc. I think he is more successful still.

I listen to Michael almost religiously and I'm sure I'm just one of a very few people in the area. People might enjoy Billie Jean or Thriller when it comes on at a Halloween party, but for the most part they just don't care.

Also, if they heard HMH on the radio, people just buy the iTunes HMH single, why buy the entire album? Some of these factors I think played a big part in the 'failure' of the album.

Hey Roger, u used to be banned from this site for a reason. U used to try to destroy Michael Jackson, so shut up. You never were legitimate, you are not, now, and you never will be, but you made a living off of him, that's for sure.

As has already been said, 'Michael' failed because it was very poorly conceived from top to bottom. From the artwork, to the song selection, to the remixing, to the fake songs. That album is like a handbook on how NOT to put together a posthumous release. Unbelievable how bad they screwed up.

There are 3 possible explanations for this.

1. They were playing the ultimate prank.
2. Someone high up in Sony really hates MJ fans.
3. The team in charge of the album actually consisted of a room full of monkeys on typewriters.

Haa Oh my goodness. The one in the take away container is the best. It sort of reminds me of Friedman typing his statement that he heard the Michael album and that it is going to be better than Thriller. He certainly was on a mission for someone.

Nothing has changed with Sony. They never knew what they were doing. They made it a living hell for Michael. They are responsible for the horrible 'Michael' album. It was their idea to have dj's mix songs on BOTDF. From the beginning of Michael's career, there have been a LOT of 'Cascios'. Anybody who tried to interfere with Michael's genius was a Cascio. From the beginning, when he was little and Motown didn't listen to him. It's only fortunate that he had the fortitude to make sure the fans heard HIS original concept FIRST. It is forever preserved. I find myself doing nothing but buying and rebuying Michael's 7 original album works. Thank God for iTunes. Even now, 'Bad 25 won't be as good as Thriller 25 because Michael won't have anything to do with it. More DJ's trying to remix. Just more 'Cascios' at work. Anybody who tries to redo Michael's genius, whether they are in that family or not, will always be known as a 'Cascio' to me. Sony has the nerve to call themselves 'innovative', and into preserving Michael's legacy. Michael's legacy is already preserved without your help, Sony, thank you very much.
You just keep selling MJ's original 7, and everything will be fine. And thank Michael for your success, while you're at it.

Fair enough.

I see your point there.

I'd just wish they'd put out the original versions on iTunes or something if the 2CD thing costs and doesn't quite work. But yeah, they're probably saving them for some sort of anthology type boxsets.

Oh well...

On the 2nd disc thing next time Sony should just add a voucher to download the demos online.

Where are my 3-D glasses when I need 'em...:(. I had two pairs, now I can't find them. Shoot.

Many great 3-D stuff on Youtube too.

You are supposed to see the gif in 3-D with your bare eyes, that's why it is awesome :)

Thought with special glasses it would be even more awesomer..:D.

Yeah, it's a great pic, but also kinda strange with all the stripes, so I thought I needed 3-D glasses for a even more special effect.

Ah well, doesn't matter.

Actually, it really does matter. If you listen to the Cascio tracks with 3-D glasses, you can be certain they are fake, it is much more clear. I haven't tried this.

You have something there about the word Cascio. It can be used in a generic sense. I had forgotten that since a youngster people were trying to tell him how to sing a song, and he would sing it another way, and the person would end up agreeing with him. This man was a genius.

I agree, it's tragic that we can't just mourn the loss of our hero, legend, icon, friend and family member to some without the added stress of this and other examples of Michael's legacy being abused. It's got to be one of the most disrespectful things I've ever heard of being done aside from things like child molestation or 'ethnic cleansing'. That brings up an interesting point to me, though. If there were people willing to make up lies about Michael that he molested children, which is such a disrespectful and evil thing to do, you think they might be disrespectful enough to do this.

And while it's hard for me to accept that the Cascio's would do this, as they seem to be good friends and defenders of Michael, I know that a lot of people close to Michael portray that image and seem to be all for Michael and "best buds", yet there's a much darker scheme going on behind the scenes in their mind.

It's a really unfortunate, terrible and sickening thing that has been done. I can't claim to know for certain what went down, if Michael was working with Eddie and Jason, if Jason was just working with Eddie and James or whatever was going on, I do not know. All I know is what I hear, more specifically what I don't hear which is all the common Michael characteristics in lead vocals that I am used to. Instead, in place of that, is a strange voice that sounds like Jason Malachi and never once hits the same pitches or frequencies that Michael hit, never once reaches anything magical.
