See, videos like those are part of why I don't worry too much about Michael's legacy. 30+ year old people are not the ones making TikTok compilations of his sexiness! I would be shocked if they were. Which means not only does he have fans much younger than the youngest among us, but they are so passionate they are bestowing us with all these gifts!

My first true celebrity crush (like where I read books, obsessively watched footage, had posters, became desperately desperate...) was James Dean, because I have never been interested in my own generation's heart throbs. And for me, with the bone structure, the glasses, the black and white...this is just all kinds of classic Hollywood hotness right here...

PS: That JD obsession lasted from when I was about 16-17. And, don't worry Michael, it never even came close to how I feel about you! 😂

LOL actually I'm not sure how innocent I ever was. When I read that post of mine Hiker reshared, I was completely insane. I was sort of shocked at how intensely insane I was early on when you all didn't even know me yet! I mean...was that before our first watch party even?!!!

Whatever 🤷‍♀️ with Michael it's just inevitable.

OK, let me address my moment of madness and then I can move on. Yes, it was me that declared, brazenly and apparently unashamedly, that LIML is a duet. I just put it out there, didn't I?

My excuse is, I had lost my mind. I'd been listening to LIML in a different way and my brain was shredded so, you know, what can I say? Michael does this to me, he kills my thinking power. Bear in mind, this is what I wrote BEFORE I heard the extended version as recommended by sw23. Can you imagine the nonsense I would have come out with if I had posted *after* I heard that version? Sheesh!

I've been on a two day break from LIML. Sometimes self-preservation has to take priority.

You couldn't know this but this little statement has made me feel ever so slightly melancholy. Just yesterday I was listening to a song I love but hardly ever hear or play. 'Giving It All Away' by Roger Daltrey. Gorgeous song. Anyway, haven't heard it for, literally, a decade or more. Got it on a compilation. The lyrics and vocal delivery are both very poignant but this time it made me think about Michael. And you've just reminded me.

I'm not having a go at you, just to be clear. I'm just now feeling quite thoughtful and slightly pensive.

Love this photo but still say, as I always do, that they should have used the black lace photo. I will always see that as such a missed opportunity. Truly, I love him in this outfit but the black lace photo ... omg!

I prefer it in b&w but this'll do nicely. I've heard all the arguments for and against this photo but, hey, I'm a punk. I'm always gonna lean towards the option that goes against the grain.

Did this get used for some reissue thing? I never see those things so I don't know. I think it did get used on something, eventually.

Oh, that's so strange! I'm sorry my comment triggered that reminder. I ended up looking up the lyrics and listening to the song and it is beautiful. I can see why it made you think of Michael, though I'm not sure I would have gone there without listening to it many times first, or being in a certain mind frame about Michael to begin with. But I absolutely see it!

The title and some of the lyrics made me think of "I Threw It All Away" by Bob Dylan, which is fundamentally a very different song than this lol.

I also love this black lace photo! I wouldn't mind this as a cover and I think it would be amazing as a Bad 40 reissue (assuming they do such a thing). I would love to see Michael's original vision for it honored. His eyes are so arresting in this photo too. Omg.

Regarding the photo I shared, after I wrote that I actually thought it would work much better as a back cover than a front cover. I can just imagine that photo with the track list to the left, or right of it. It would be gorgeous.

I remember as a kid and teenager whenever I would get a new CD, I would lie on my stomach on my bed and just stare at the album - every picture, read all the lyrics, just soak in the entire aesthetic while listening to the whole CD. If I had been into Michael back then, I probably would have done this x10. If I saw that photo on the back cover of Bad, I would probably have never left my room again lol.

Oh, I might go and listen to this. Just before I came online I was listening to 'The Death of Emmett Till'. Powerful stuff from Bob. That was adding to the melancholy mood, as you can imagine. I seem to be having a 'Bob' day.

Agree. I know the argument is, the black lace photo makes him look too feminine, but I think he looks quite badass cos his stare is so intense. Not gangster badass, obvs, but there is a real intensity there which I love.

Definitely. A back cover for that photo would be awesome. And certainly from the graphic design point of view, yeah, totally would work. They should have done that.

I don't multi-task so I never did this while listening but, yeah, I loved doing this type of thing. That is one way that vinyl was always superior to CD's because there was so much more space for the photos, lyrics, sleeve notes etc. You really could immerse yourself in it. I love CD's cos they have a better shelf life than vinyl and take up less space. But from the graphic design point of view, they suck. Nothing was ever the same. When everything had to shrink down like that, ugh, so sad. Doesn't really work. Better than nothing but, nah, not nearly as good as a 12". That said, in this day and age of streaming, CD booklets are precious. I don't access my music online (so old-school). I need my CD's. I need little booklets.
