Right. There is a lot that is MISSING. The thing about boards of directors is, some are entirely private, i.e. the public doesn't know who is on a particular board. We may never know, and if not, that's the end of HTW. Would have been nice if the executors had re-started it, and made a clear statement that this is MICHAEL'S charity, and Johnson/Mann are not involved. I'm not holding my breath.

That's what I'm wondering too. I think that by using the term "settlement", both the Estate and defendants had to get something out of this. Melissa and Mann did not simply go away with nothing. I'm sure of that.

no matter how the estate are going to adjust it now, this settlement is the big slap on Michael's face. I am curious to see how they gonna sugarcoat it to the fans:no:. of course, they don't care about us, but they care about our money:smilerolleyes:.

As am I, sure of that. Melissa Johnson, welcome to the board of directors of a DEFUNCT charity! If there is any CHANCE she is on that board, I can't imagine anyone would donate. Buh, bye (damn, this is sad. . . .)

This. Okay, I don't know how much porn plays a role in this. :cheeky: But the money part is correct. We should finally stop demanding from anyone, no matter if it's the estate or I don't know who, to act as Michael would want it. So we don't get disappointed He's not here anymore and these people who are in charge don't think about what Michael would have wanted. They just do their job which is making as much money as possible. It's so sad but it's the truth.

Michael Jackson's estate has settled a lawsuit against a nonprofit claiming it is the successor to the singer's Heal the World charity.


Jackson's estate battled the Heal the World Foundation in federal court for more than 18 months then settled the case on Tuesday just as trial was scheduled to begin.

In recent months, the foundation has placed Jackson's mother on its board of directors.

The estate says in a statement that it will retain the rights to the Heal the World charity and rights to any trademarks the current foundation held.

While fighting child abuse allegations, Michael Jackson abandoned the charity that bears the name of one of his hit songs.

Edgar Pease, who represents Heal the World, did not immediately return a phone message.

the bolded...I agree..Michael closed that Charity...NOT for Johnson or even his own estate to reopen it. as far as them sugar coating it to us fans ..we are not stupid and they know that...they know we are NOT going to support this charity.

So the Estate essentially has control of this whole thing but with Johnson on the board? I don't think Johnson should be anywhere near this and Mann really needs to stay the hell away. But everything is still in the air so will wait until the Estate releases a statement to the fan communities.

The Estate's intention was to stop Johnson. If they have now taken control of the HTW name, etc. then they acheived that purpose.
They appear to be going out of their way to protect or shield Mrs. Jackson from backlash no matter what "out there" statements she is releasing.
And that may be a part of the motivation for the settlement, also.

And what could be in it for Johnson to settle? Not having egg on her face if this actually went to trial as well as other things. Sometimes depending on what that egg really would look like on the face, people suddenly begin to talk settlements when they see the clock ticking to the start of trial.
 
We have to wait. Maybe Johnson has realize that she has no chance against the Estate and the Estate paid her some money to get back the Heal the world name and the other trademarks. Than it is ok. I can`t see in the statement of the Estate, that the Estate will work with Johnson or take her as a board member. They clearly say Melissa Johson can´t use the name of Michael Jackson or HTW. If she is a board member she clearly would use the name of MJ and HTW in the position of a board member.

Is this correct? I thought Michael abandoned the charity earlier (around 2001) due to financial issues? :unsure:

I don't understand why the Estate would issue statements through Joe Vogel though? That's a bit strange.

not correct. the charity hasn't been active since 2002 so it had nothing to do with allegations

Is the Estate going to release another statement? Or, is the one posted via Joe Vogel it? The statment posted by Joe Vogel is more or less the same as the update posted by TMZ.

Yes, Is that the full statement?
I think most of us is more interested in which part of TMZ is wrong and what Johnson get return to hand out the HTWF.

We don't know. As of now fan clubs hasn't received anything other than "public statement is coming".

There is no statement from Johnson and her attorney.

I'm not even sure Johnson got anything in return. Maybe she realized she had zero chance to win this case and chose to settle rather than being humiliated in front of the whole world. If I were in her position, I wouldn't like everyone to know about my stalkerish past behaviour and fraudulent actions either.

If that's the case do not expect to hear anything
