It's a good start you've got there. I think you should start working more with brushes in your graphics. They do such a big differece with a little effort. Check out these sites!

When you get the hang of the brushes, then start playing around with gradients, shadows, light etc. You just have to doubleclick the layer you wanna work with and you have a whole bunch of stuff there...if you did not know that already xP
