The singer, songwriter, who is best known for her songs “Unforgettable,” and “Inseparable,” is the daughter of the late jazz singer Nat King Cole and singer Maria Hawkins Cole. I was so sad and hurt when I heard the news. :(

But I'm glad that the family got to spend one last Christmas together.
Rest in heaven Natalie Cole.

Re: Dinah!

^^Anybody who didn't grow up lucky enough to watch the Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, and Dinah Shore shows should really watch these-those shows were absolutely wonderful.

Natalie was laid to rest in Forest Lawn Glendale with her parents. Click on the picture of Stevie at the funeral and a short news video comes up.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) --
Some of the music industry's biggest names joined the family and friends of Natalie Cole, as the Grammy-winning singer was laid to rest on Monday.

Her funeral started with something the iconic singer was used to receiving - a standing ovation. Then, some of the biggest names in show business paid tribute.

"Peace out and be in his peace. Let him love on you, and you'll say this will be an everlasting love," said singer Smokey Robinson.

Record producer David Foster said working with Cole was unforgettable.

"Sitting behind the piano while she commanded the stage was the perfect vantage point to see how instantly she connected with the audience," he said.

More music legends filled out the crowd, such as Johnny Mathis, Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan.

Natalie Cole died New Year's Eve from heart failure. She was 65.

"She was not just the daughter of Nat King Cole, she was Natalie Cole, a superstar in her own right," said recording artist Lionel Richie.

While the world knew her as an award-winning singer, to her twin sisters, she was "sweetie." To her son, she was "mom."

"She has been, just, amazing to me," her son, Robert Adams, said. "I have cherished every last bit of these 38 years with her."
