New All-Star Tribute album?

It's a Tribute. Michael barely recorded anything during his last year's. Most of the titles are instrumentals and mumbled nonsense. Unusable.
Maybe they could add vocals from other songs like with Drake, who knows but it's clearly a feature with Michael as the selling point

No it's not. They clearly state that it's a "Tribute to Michael Jackson" not an album featuring Michael Jackson. Coping will only lead to disappointment.

I don't think they'll be songs that were made during the Ireland sessions literally, since Rodney Jerkins didn't work on any music back then I'm almost sure they'll let out some white lies and include songs from other sessions—perhaps going as far back as the Invincible sessions—and say they were made during that time.
I think this is pretty likely. It'll be writers demos or newly written stuff. Pretty weird they're using his trip to Ireland as way to get people interested and acting like this is some material he actually worked on.

Id be surprised if there is any new MJ material/footage at all in this release. Seems like a release with 100% tribute songs and maybe writers demos originally intended for MJ at the most, both by artists that have been marginally involved in the Ireland sessions and some that have nothing to do with MJ.

A doc about the Ireland sessions in general might be nice, if well done. But it seems Will I Am isnt involved, and he was the only artist who did some actual work during that time. Also, I watched the trailer and there hasnt been any new footage of MJ. I guess it will consist of interviews of the hotel staff talking about how nice MJ was.

It would be really cool if they had studio footage and released an EP of the demos MJ himself worked on. But thats not gonna Happen.

Thats my expectations. If there is at least one tiny new footage, demo etc I will be pleasantly surprised :)

So it’s an estate-approved project, featuring numerous high-level superstars and former collaborators? Color me interested.

If MJ didn’t write the songs, I hope it’s at least songs he expressed a clear intent to work on and/or record, not just random material that was written with him in mind.
I'd really have no interest in a project like this. Without MJ's voice, it just does nothing for me. But if it makes some fans happy, great.

None of these Neff-U songs were recorded in 2006:

Dark Lady was recorded by MJ, I've heard it and it's amazing albeit not complete. Water has some MJ vocals, again I've heard it and its magic. The others I'm not sure. Whether or not they try to market this project as 2006, when in reality his vocals were from other years... that is possible. Because MJ did not record any vocals in 2006 in Ireland. He mostly just picked out hooks/sounds he liked and worked on the skeleton/production of songs.

So this project will either take MJ's vocals from other studio time done during Invincible sessions or later in 2007/2008/2009 and list MJ as a collaborator/feature artist. Or it will be a tribute album only with other singers singing songs and piggybacking off MJ's name to get press.

Completely understandable. It’s nowhere near as interesting or exciting as actual music, of course. I just think it’s a fun avenue to take, especially since the estate isn’t involved and is just letting them do their thing.

On the topic of the documentary I hope the owners of the Grouse Lodge Studios don't insert themselves too much on it, MJ's final sessions is completely shrouded in mystery and this will be a rare opportunity for MJ's collaborators to finally talk about those sessions and I hope we can learn about them as much as possible, instead of hearing people who barely had anything to do with Michael talk about how starstruck they were, and how kind and hard at work he was. How many times have we heard those kinds of stories from several different people? It'll get to a point where the doc will turn into a complete snoozefest otherwise.

The guy did say at the end they would be inviting his collaborators to talk about those sessions, so I hope we'll get more of that instead of constant glazing from those 2 people like it appeared on the trailer.

No hate but I think it’s hilarious that after 16 years of disappointment we get excited over a tribute album 😂 the songs on it will most likely be modernized as they did on Xscape.

You're usually trolling but I'll give a serious answer:

It's basically been 11 years since Xscape came out and it's basically like the last "MJ Project". I wouldn't count Thriller 10 Years Until 50 mostly because it's "archival". It doesn't even have any new remixes lol.

Well, maybe there's one? I forgot. Who Do You Know is still a slapper though.

The tribute will give an impression of what could have been in 2010. How can you as a fan not be interested in it?

Not in to pretend could have been from artists I don’t care about. Michael might not have ever recorded any of those songs let alone release them. I’m not trying to be negative but what’s the point? Release some Michael Jackson songs sung by Michael or don’t give us anything. It’s been so long since we’ve gotten something we want.

Honestly insane that Paddy Dunning just flat-out lied about the estate authorizing this lmao. I wonder if BTS actually recorded anything and, if so, if they were led to believe that it was an official project.
