Janet Jackson Opens Up About Emotional VMA Tribute To Her Brother Michael

'The Making of Janet Jackson's Video Music Awards Tribute Performance' airs on MTV Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

It's the story behind the epic performance: As Janet Jackson geared up to present a tribute to her brother Michael during the MTV Video Music Awards, she was still struggling with her emotions nearly three months after MJ passed away. While she said that the tribute was "the most fun I have ever had working on a project for TV," she also said she fought to hold back tears while a team of dancers took the stage dressed in MJ's iconic looks, from single sequined gloves to red leather jackets to glittering, military-style uniforms.

On Saturday, during MTV's exclusive 12:30 p.m. airing of "The Making of Janet Jackson's Video Music Awards Tribute Performance," Janet will give viewers a behind-the-scenes peek at what it took to put on the show and talk candidly about her swirling emotions during the entire production.
"It was very emotional for me and I was trying not to cry," Janet told MTV. "And I got choked up a few times. It gave me goosebumps. I thought [the dancers] looked incredible. They had just learned it."
As she waited to go onstage for her portion of the tribute — a raucous dance number set to "Scream," the single she and MJ recorded together in the mid-'90s — Janet was overcome by the vision of so many dancers resembling the King of Pop in wardrobe and dance steps.
"[It's] just like you're seeing all these carbon copies of your brother, and because he left such an impression with his style on so many different generations — and, still, this generation — and to see them try to mimic him to the T and doing an incredible job at it as if he was the one that taught them — 'No, this is how you do it' — and to see them look so close to his movement, it just touched me," Janet said. "It really touched me."
"The Making of Janet Jackson's Video Music Awards Tribute Performance" captures footage from the very first day of rehearsals in Los Angeles to the final moments before Janet and hit the stage of Radio City Music Hall. You can see it all on MTV this Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
"This is the most fun — from my mouth to God's ears — the most fun I have ever had working on a project for TV," said Janet.

Ok, here i go: Kanye West was absolutely stupid on interrupting that sweet girl Taylor Swift (of only 19 years old and just starting), and whats even more pathetic is that his fury was cause HE and his retarded mind thought that beyonce's single ladies video was one of the "best videos of all time":bugeyed:hysterical: yes, he said of all time!!! i though Smooth Criminal from Michael Jackson or say another video you like most was into that category.

Taylor's video is like a mini movie, is really a good, tasteful and entertaining, it also has a story, Beyonce's (not to say is not a likeble song and video, for ladies specially) but one of the best videos of all time???:bugeyed
Taylor's on the other hand is a nice polite girl who did a descent beautiful, entertaining video with a beginning a middle and an ending (like Michael would have liked, mini movie like) and im sure Michael saw that video (when he was alive) and thought, if my Paris wants to be an artist i would like her to be as sweet and sophisticated as this girl(Taylor Swift)

i dont want to say that that guy named kanye west stole Michael's tribute from Madonna and Janet, but he DID, and for Beyonces video???:mello: wth???:bugeyed i thought this kind of interrruption should be for IMPORTANT CASES.

One thing is for sure I WILL NOT WATCH THE NEXT YEAR VMAS, now it will all be based on these ridiculous scandals, not in the art of videos (which is really lacking ), God not for nothing the Oscars are so relevant, so the Grammy's awards

A last reflection the vmas were super boring adn tasteless and all because of kanye's interrruption:doh:, thast sad, isnt it???

I know Kanye was stupid for that but right after it happened i thought of 3 reasons why he did it for Beyonce:

1. Beyonce is Jay Z's wife and Jay Z is Kanye's boss/mentor/friend. So it would make sense that he would pick Beyonce's video to defend.

2. Kanye was drunk lol when they showed him on the red carpet he was holding a bottle of hennessy. I saw that and was like, "oooh boy" lol

3. Kanye's a Jackass.

3. Kanye's a Jackass.

even worse... he made one out of himself... all alone! that's worse than just being one!
On the other hand I think he can live with it pretty well... negative attention is still attention and in his business it still means money...

hahaha exactly:D

Yea, it was very short!

Also here's an acapella of Janet's performance for those saying it was auto-tuned (I thought a part was too, but I was wrong)

Either its the echo, or its still slightly auto-tuned, you can hear it a little in the "If You Tell Me Im Wrong", But I could be wrong, and I'm leaning towards it being the echo. Either way, she still put on a memorable performance. I just watched the repeat and thought, "Wow, she's amazing".

And Hawt. =-P

It's an echo.

Loved the MTV Behind The Scenes backstage special.

Had me shedding some more tears though.
