Pepsi Partners With Michael Jackson Estate for Commemorative Packaging [Pepsi Promo /Can discussion]

The clerk at the 7-11 down the street from my house where I finally found the cans said today that they're selling a lot of them, much more than the regular 16oz Pepsi cans would sell.

He also said they have a display waiting in the back to be put up!

Heeeeeey! They must be "pop"ping up everywhere now!
I too have found the very evasive MJ Pepsi cans at my local grocers.
It was a small display, but I caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye. :wild:
It was a large size picture of MJ....the one with the silver shirt and he's holding a mic.
Smiling brightly. :D I looked twice and saw the Pepsi cans in a cardboard stand up case!
There was the other pic of MJ...like the one on the cans itself in front . Yay!
The whole thing was about 4 feet tall. I was able to buy them in 16 oz. single cans
for a dollar each.

Bout time! Hahaha! :D I'm happy now. They do exist. Lol!

I woke up this morning thinking.....why am I so happy about this??
And it's not like I hadn't thought of this before but the reality is setting in-
Why am I so happy? They're still making money off of Michael. :(
And I guess that's the way it's gonna be from now on.
I just don't have to be a part of it.

Here's a picture of the free Pepsi coupons that I was talking about earlier. (Sorry it's a little blurry but that's the only picture my friend sent me)

MJ's estate gets money from this also. You can't expect Pepsi to put MJ on their cans and not get any money from it.

Yes, his estate benefits, bills get paid and his children reap the rewards. I don't know what's wrong with that. And it keeps Michael's name out there and there is no denying the longstanding relationship with Pepsi.

I got 3 cans being order on eBay.ca today. So I'm getting one for myself and other 2 I'm sending 1 to my friends from Poland and Serbia.

Walmart in Linden NJ!! But they are 16 oz cans so you only find them in the coolers near the registers.

If you can't find them, I'll send one to you.

Thanks for the sightings alert Ivy, so now Brooklyn's got Pepsi.

I don't understand why you can send away for a can of it when you can just buy them right there.

Well I didn't t h i n k that was the case but now I know. Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with that. I think it's great. That's the way it should be.

That's not too far from where I live in Bushwick. I haven't spotted the cans in the usual stores where I shop around the hood but I will keep looking.

We are aware that fans in the U.S. have been having some difficulty locating the special edition Bad 25 Pepsi Cans. Pepsi would like you to know that Wal-mart is the retailer that has the most widespread distribution in the U.S., but as retailers vary by market, distribution may be uneven.

Pepsi invites you to call their consumer hotline for more information as the staff is equipped with information about the Pepsi cans. The hotline number is: 1-800-433-2652

So I took my Pepsi to work with me. I pretended to offer some to each co-worker
(it's a small group in my department- 8 people). I showed the Pepsi side as I asked
if they would like some. They answered, "No thanks." I then said "Not even if it's the
King of Pop?"
And flipped the can around to show the image of Michael.
They tripped out! They were so fascinated with it.

But I was surprised that none of them even knew about the cans.
I guess they forgot that I had told them about the cans about a month ago.
Not even the one single person in the group who is a "mild" fan. Lol!

I did the same thing with my family. Haha! :D

I had fun showing it off. Lol.

^^We now have to call the Wal-marts and see which ones have them or that 1800 number. This has been a very exhausting campaign, and it is good that I have a tiny vacation in England at the end of June.

Googling the street view of this place, it's just a little corner bodega so I guess I should be checking all the bodegas in my neighborhood (I really don't want to go to Walmart as it's kind of out of the way for me).

Thanks Ivy.
At least the Estate are aware how ineffective this promotion is considering the fans that know about them are having real trouble finding them in stores. How on Earth do they expect this promotion to achieve the usual goal, which is to gain visibility, improve awareness of the product and ultimately increase sales?
So far visibility is near zero, so awareness is near zero and the increases in sales? Well I'm not sure. There's possibly an increase in Pepsi sales in the stores that stock it, but overall sales are probably not affected much, and there's almost certainly no tangible benefit for MJ at all so far.
I would like to hear the conversations the MJ Estate are having with Pepsi.

Saw this at my local supermarket

Wooo! That looks great! Did you gasp for air when you first saw it? I did, when I saw the one here.
And yours is huge in comparison to the one I saw at my local grocers.
I wonder if other supermarkets in my area will have the larger displays. I may have to just check that out.

Side note: For some reason I just thought about Michael in the supermarket on his PHM. :D

I called the 1800 number. They can give you a list of the walmarts/targets in your area. They do not have any information on which stores received them.

The Estate need to know about Canada too. We want those cans and I felt like we Canadians are being ignored like hell.

Even if you they dont have one out, ask if they have one in the back

There are a lot of other countries that aren't getting the cans either...It's not like we're the only ones who are being 'ignored like hell'...

It sucks, but I figured there would be countries that weren't gonna get the cans...I'm just a little surprised that a country as big as Canada aren't getting them...But, ah well...I'm more excited about the DVD and album release anyway *shrugs*

Well I put up the petition anyways and a lot of Canadians are signing up.
