Please welcome our newest staff member Karom to Team MJJC

Question. When I delete multiple posts (like I just did) do I have to leave a note or is it always the Admin who leaves it?

I'm not sure if this has already been said apologies if it has but when deleting arguments ish attacks or anything the like please on all occasions you only ever soft delete, this is so if the issues continue or if I don't see it I as well as other staff can still read it should we need to be kept up to date on what members say and do.

We (I) have been using the admin accounts to address members on the board now so we don't get singled out by disgruntled members for our actions. But in a trivial matter like this I don't see much problem if we personally Pm or leave a mod note about the thread being cleaned. It's just more effective and respected if it comes from the Admin account. We can use the admin account to contact/PM members for violations or leave warnings or notes in the thread. The Password is mjjc22441970 - If you answer to a PM reply to your action in there, be sure to Move the members PM to moderation section in there. So we know it is taken care of and members don't receive multiple replies. Also be sure to log out .. it can be embarrassing and confusing to members if you start posting as yourself on that account .. delete ASAP

Qbee / I havent logged out from admin yet

I see. Thanks. :D

 Yes, I realized it was you.

I have another question. You had me delete that picture because it was a paparazzi picture, but how exactly did you know it was a paparazzi picture? How do you tell the difference between a paparazzi one and one taken, say by a fan at one of their public appearances? And while on the subject, are pictures taken by fans at public appearances allowed or do they count as "paparazzi pics"?

It was paprazzi becuase it was from an article from the Dailymail tabloid who took the pic. she posted the link to the article below that pic. She knew it was tabloid. Pictures that Jackson's post themselves or from events that they attend are allowed even if a fan takes it or the press. if you are not certain dont delete it, just report it and we can investigate and find out.

Karom

You asked what else you could do on the board
This is the memberservice mail account.
If you want you can help me by removing the spam in there

The easiest way is to select all mail on the page and then uncheck the real mail
then select the option move to Junk .. any title or header in chinese also move to junk it is spam.

I will take care of the mail requests - they are moved to trash when Im finished. I dont like placing Spam in the trash becuase sometimes I need to find posts in there to followup with and it's difficult to wade through the spam.

I've moved all the Chinese or weird language ones to junk as well as all the other advertising ones (electronic cigarettes, home loans etc.)

The user murushki has 12 posts and has not yet been upgraded as a general member. I'm not sure whether or not I can move members from one group to another or only Sr staff can, so I'm not going to try anything without asking.

they will auto upgrade at midnight (I think GMT time ) the day they reach 10 posts. We use to manually upgrade, but Gaz set it up auto now. Sr mods will move or change groups if necessary. Such as place them in mod que, Jacksons ready only and Gaz personally upgrades Club members (Donators)

Hey, I was wondering, I logged in earlier today with the Admin account by accident and there was a PM from a user who was unhappy with the fact that people are allowed to call MJ an "addict". I just left it in the inbox without replying and I was wondering, should I let you guys handle such complaints?

Sorry I didnt reply sooner have connection problems all day ..
I check it out

I have another question. In mod que, there is a post (I have not yet approved) that calls Conrad Murray a "MURDERER" and I was wondering if that should be allowed. Personally, I find it unnecessary and I would categorize it as "name calling".

That post is a hysterical rant IMO. ..So I removed MURDERER. We could leave the reference as its doesn't always mean he deliberately killed him. But Some fans believe he did deliberately murdered MJ .. don't know why based on evidence -If they continue and start going into conspiracy discussion in that thread, We can move their posts out and into controversy. I already did that with one one post in Kat vs AEG discussion thread.

As far as Murray we are more a little more laps when it comes to how fans want to describe him. We just have to use our judgment and wing it on Murray. We can't tell fans to be nice and not call Murray names. Thats all they have to vent their hurt, pain and disgust over his actions that killed Michael. We just don't allow excessive, explicit language .. death threats or damning him to hell .. etc - If ever in doubt just report the post and we can discuss what action needs to needs to be taken

I see. I just think it shows lack of maturity and better judgment to just throw labels like that. I get it that people are hurt, but it's not going to go away by doing that and it just builds tension and frustration which results in a big mess.

I agree - Rants like that serve no good purpose and do show lack of maturity.

Do spam posts/spammers need to be reported when in mod que, or just delete the thread/post? And if they need to be reported, how exactly is that done? Because I haven't seen any option to report posts in mod que. For example, there is a post now in que made by appessy which I haven't deleted because I wasn't sure if I just have to delete it or there are other things to be done. :p

We don't report spam. We just ban them and then delete the post - there are 2 ways

Ban and delete Spammer post from Mod CP
1. In mod mod que click on profile name
2. in "quick user links" drop down box at top left of their profile select ban
3. in dropdown where is says banned change to spam account
4 on date scroll down to bottom and select permanent ban
5 reason spam account
6. click ban
7 go back to mod que delete the post

If we get attacked by spammers or their are several post or if you see a spam post while in the forums
you can ban the spammer(s) form the forum.

Ban and delete Spammers from forum
1. If you are in Mod que click on the forum where the post comes from ( that will take you to the forum)
2. In the forum Select the check box on spammer post to highlight it
3. if there are several spam posts then at right top of forum click "Inline mod"
4 Select "unaproved threads" ( that will highlight all unaproved posts) (make sure to unselect any non spam)
5 Click on the moderation tool bottom right in forum - select "Delete Threads as spam" proceed
6. Select "Physically remove" select "Ban these users" Proceed
7. next to Place banned users in - select "Spam Accounts" from dropdown box
8. leave date at permanent ban -
Reason type spammer - Click ban user

Hmm... there is one in Mod que right now, but I don't see any drop down at the top. There is one that says "User groups" and I can set that to banned and then there is a checklist called "Additional groups" where I can select "Spam Accounts", but I can't see any option to actually ban the user unless I go to the post on the forum and do it. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something.

Opps sorry for not making that clear. Look at left side above their name (Quick user links) click on that and you will see option to Ban. I will change that above

Ohh  Yes, I see it now. Thanks.
