I think it would've been strong enough to make the album. MJ's vocals on that track would just bring out the magic. It certainly could've replaced JGF. I just don't think it was edgy enough for BAD, which is why Temperton just didn't stand a chance on this album.
I think you're right mate, I think part of the reason it didn't make the record was it wasn't edgy enough. Same for other songs that didn't make the cut

Is all of Bill's session from Hayvenhurst? I would say they were considered but cut during pre-production with the exception of SW since it actually made an early track list at one point

Riley and Rodney Jerkins produced the bulk of the album, the studio sources said. Other producers who have been connected with the project include R. Kelly, Swizz Beatz, former Jodeci member DeVante DeGrate, David Foster, Kevin "Shek'spere" Briggs and the Neptunes, though it is not known if their work will appear on the finished LP.

Amazing documentary. You don't always see people talk about Michael's collaborators other than Quincy, Bruce Swedien and Rod Temperton; Brad Buxer deserves just as much recognition as them. I wish there was more content out there that delves into the late 90's sessions, this and jackson.ch videos from a couple of years back are an absolute godsend for that.
My biggest dream is for someone to create a documentary based on the musical material made during his last years, with producers like Prince or Buxer involved. I think the only ones who can come close to doing that is Damien and Marcos Cabota
If they could get Will.I.Am and RedOne in there, that'd be peak. Even if they just get the rest of the footage from that 2006 interview, that's enough for me.

Yeah, I only over the past two years or so started paying more attention to this song and I do now think it's one of his best. The instrumental is lovely.
