The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

There are plenty, such as the tracker and the fan Wikia page, but they’re all unreliable in varying ways. I’d say the Wikia page seems to be the most accurate (though please ignore any song listed as “lost,” because none of them are).
How is the Wikia more accurate than the tracker when fake songs exist on there 💀

The Wikia can be edited by anyone based on their assumptions or unconfirmed facts. The tracker is edited by a group of people who only add confirmed or rumored information, and even add labels for confirmed or rumored details. The tracker is far superior, and is much more directly connected to the collectors in the community

Yeah that is verbatim what he did with BTM tho lol he took the instrumental and added it to his lyrics and his melody. Unless im misunderstanding what you're saying
It’s definitely not a sample since he’s using the written composition (core melody and arrangement) by YMO, just reproduced. I personally think this falls under the umbrella of Reinterpretation and Cover. I’d even go as far as add Interpolation in the mix as well.

My bad I never really compared them side by side I always thought he just straight up used the YMO version lol my bad. Yeah definitely reproduced so it is an interpolation! Thanks!

There's a few, but the one that caught my attention the most is the song "Let Him Burn/Not At The Top Of My Hand". The track is entirely fan-made.
Funny you mention this I just was asking one of the other editors why this was on here a few days ago haha. What other ones did you catch? Haven't gotten around to doing a deep sweep myself.

I was gonna point out that songs like "The Gloved One" aren't confirmed to exist and there should be a disclaimer for that but I didn't see there was one right next to it so I'm just blind lol.

The song "That" was produced by Brad Buxer, not Tim and Bob.

It's unconfirmed whether the snippet will.i.am played on the Access Hollywood interview is "Still The King". There's a leaker who posted a vid saying that the song they played isn't "Still the King" but that isn't an official source. I think it would be better to title it as an "unknown song".

Zx1 mentioned "Think Twice" has ad-libs, would be good to point that out.

Perhaps there are more but these are the ones I caught from the get-go.

Got it thanks! I will say take the credits for the 2010 copyright batch from Prince and Buxer with a grain of salt because they seemingly wanted to save time by giving each registration a generic list of credits, or it's entirely possible they just didn't know the original writers/producers. Not sure where the Tim and Bob thing came from though I will look into that.

"Still The King" is a confirmed title but yes it is unconfirmed if that's what was played good catch thanks!

As for "Think Twice" thats not a title I've heard in it's entirety but I will add a note about it possibly containing adlibs until we get an official confirmation from a leak.

I think at least "That" is legit since Buxer mentioned the track a few times on his interviews. I think he's also the one who mentioned directly that "That" is one of the first songs they made for "Invincible".

Oh dope! Do you happen to know which interviews he mentioned this in? Yeah im researching right now and i see absolutely zero information regarding it being a T&B collaboration lol. The cited BMI registration on the tracker doesn't even exist 😭😭

Somewhere in these interviews, though I could be misremembering that second part but he's definitely directly mentioned the track himself.

Thanks for pointing all that out! Clay already edited stuff but I'll take care of any further inaccuracies you find when they pop up.

Sorry about that, I thought I saw something registered "That" under Tim and Bob's name but I must've been misremembering.

I made a note on the tracker about how i'd heard 2 OTW tracks before with a different singer but I couldn't remember the guys name since it was a few years ago. Well i found them haha! James Whitney reworked "Goodness Knows" and "We Are The Ones" and released them in 2020. This is a cool insight into what the MJ versions might've been like if he ended up recording them im not sure if he did. I really like "Goodness Knows" would kill to hear an MJ vocal on it if such a thing exists.

He also did "Disco Kids" and "Sweet Music" but I've never heard those.

Johnathon Hartman - "In 1975 Michael Jackson recorded a song I wrote with James Whitney, entitled "Goodness Knows"."

So this song is actually NOT Off the wall era interestingly and that would lead me to believe the other Whitney collabs aren't OTW era either. At least this is confirmation MJ actually recorded GK. Would love to hear that.

It seems he originally recorded Goodness Knows for an obscure album of his in 2007 (according to Discogs).
