The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Thing is, HarborView sounds like a company that doesn't exactly share the same views Quincy has. So it's possible that they could be easier to work with. Hell, best case scenario: the unknown cuts from OTW and Thriller could be released (if the former exists which seems to be likely given copyright registrations exist for a few songs).

I find it much more likely they’ll be willing to cooperate since they aren’t Quincy/ his estate which may feel obligated to “protect” his work and interests.

I'm putting this here cause I have no idea where else I could ask the question, but what are the correct labels for the Billie Jean demos?

The multitrack one is #2 (Hayvenhurst) and the 5-minute-something one is #3 (Westlake), right?
5 minute one is hayvenhurst and multitrack is a westlake session as some of the lead was comped into the final version

Well that was gonna be my assumption all along. Just like with MJ’s estate, Quincy’s estate would allow more open collaboration.

No unreleased songs in the biopic soundtrack album
Which is unsurprising, though I would've surely expected Kirk Franklin's remix of "Man In The Mirror" to make it into the film.

That said, this is the barest of "bare minimum." At least put on some remixes or something new...assuming they don't have other music-related projects waiting in the wings.

H. Gatica already said he mixed some demos for the movie
For the in-movie score, not the retail soundtrack.

From the top of my head,

Boots Song
Hot Street
Nite Line
Rolling The Dice
SW’ ‘87 (IF the final version was made and produced by Q)
PoF Q mix (Bottrell confirmed that it was sent to Q)

Wtf? Will there be a deluxe edition with new material (remixes + unreleased songs)?
I believe so, given how Kirk Franklin teased a remix he did of "Man In The Mirror" and there'd be no reason for him to do that unless the Estate's planning to release it around the biopic.

There's also that (now-deleted) news story from 2024 that revealed the Estate sent people to examine the tapes in both their and Sony's possession. Again, there'd be no reason for them to do that (and for "Hot Street"'s title to be shown in the trailer) if they weren't planning a 2-disc release.

My assumption about the possible second disc is this:

Hot Street
Man In The Mirror (Kirk Franklin Remix)
maybe Nite Line?
perhaps Why Can't I Be?
maybe unheard demos for Beat It, Sunset Driver, and one of the OTW songs?
reimagined versions of Billie Jean, Human Nature, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, and Thriller in the same vein as Kirk's MITM?
and I guess one more unreleased song to round things out (either a Bad-era outtake like Tomboy or a Thriller-era outtake like the long-rumored Attitude)
maybe one of the uncopyrighted songs mentioned in the 1993 deposition?

What a let down of a list. I honestly didn't expect any demos or cool, despite so many fans and memembers here hyping it up, believing we will be getting demos/unreleased songs.

Oh, well.

You don’t think his remix could be just for the actual film itself or promo material? I also don’t foresee unreleased tracks coming out but it’d be something I guess? Idk why some people are really hype about stuff like Hot Street possibly coming out when we’ve had it and other songs from Thriller in HQ for nearly 2 decades.

I’m not even let down by the lack of unreleased songs/demos as I said I never expected it but man what a bunz compilation bro 😭😭

Plus, if people see the name Hot Street in the movie, then they will look it up and see the leak, and the estate won’t get any money from it

Right, it couldn't even be a more boomer picked type of playlist than this.

Let's stay hopeful an album or a music project will be on the upcoming anyway in Q4 or early 2027😶

Honestly I wouldn't keep my hopes up with the estate at this point. But looking forward to more leaks than anything.
