The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

My biggest letdown is that "Rock With You" - arguably one of the most iconic songs in MJ's discography and the most defining song of the "Off The Wall" era - isn't even on the soundtrack. This tracklist is making it pretty apparent that they'll be glossing over stuff so they can get to "Thriller" as quickly as possible.

Rock With You is far more relevant than WDAN, but it probably won't bring in as much money for the estate. The tracklist is heavily sales-oriented.

This was obviously slapped together by '80s nostalgia-stricken Gen Xers (or late boomers) who only came to know Michael through Thriller and nothing else.

Maybe they are holding back unreleased songs for another Xscape type album.

There's been some smoke regarding unreleased tracks being worked on and we know Porcaro has come to an agreement with the Estate.

It wouldn't make sense to have some unreleased songs on the soundtrack. Instead, another new album like Xscape would make more sense.

Plus it'd match up with what @mjfp has been saying about a potential third posthumous album.

I don’t foresee there ever being an actual ALBUM like Xscape ever again, would be happy to be proven wrong. i know there is a producer who was reworking MJ tracks in a way that is authentic to the 80s but i doubt we’d get a full album from that. It doesn’t make sense from a business perspective to blow their load with 10 or so high tier songs on a single release when they could instead drip feed the material over the course of decades on stuff like Thriller 40.

I don't think they're interested in MJ's unreleased music.
Clearly not too much, and again business perspective. Why bother putting funds/effort into new projects or doing stuff with unreleased music when he generates over 100 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR by them doing nothing. He has the most valuable solo catalog on earth. As I’ve said time and time again on this forum; if they wanted to, they would.

im not sure why anyone cares about the hot street reference. they peppered a real song in with a bunch of fakes... which is stupid because they have a list of real songs LIKE hot street that didnt make it. it really is just the leo meme. but if hot street did get another release? who gives a shit, where my snakepit at
