The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I registered an account on here to try and find more information on a track called “Vile and Miserable (Miserable Soul)” apparently worked on by MJ and will.i.am. It lists on wikipedia (not a super reliable source ik) but I cannot find it anywhere else. Anyone know anything about it?

a lot of those songs are fake and if anything leaked in 2015 like this alleged song, we would've heard it by now...that's a fake title that was added by someone editing the page.

Quite annoying to hear about the plans for no upcoming mj releases I hope stuff leaks in clear quality and it messes up their profits when they try and release stuff in 5 years

Lord Jackson is in the corner laughing mischievously as we speak

https://www.youtube.com/@mjsitspaybacktimealbum2004/videos i found this channel with what seems to be dr. freeze demos, do we know if they were all for mj?? im liking some of em ngl
Almost all the Freeze demo's I've heard have some potential, I can only imagine what they would have been if Mike had got involved more with the writing and stuck with Dr Freeze.

The thing I like about them is they all feel different and unique, which would have been vital if Mike chose to work with Dr Freeze on an album.

I don’t think it is wise or ethical to make a laughing matter out of what lord jackson did. It was a criminal offense and i am sure lots of people in the fanbase supported his action. In doing so the offender might think what he did was justified. I wonder if you’d find it funny if some total stranger ran away with your laptop…

I always assumed Tomboy had MJ vocals. The whole it being described as having a similar melody to remember the time thing.

Damien said the version (registered via US Copyright) he heard was an instrumental and Barnes confirmed there were vocals but the song wasn't complete.....The version registered was most likely for the instrumental only.....I'm sure Matt has a copy

I think this discrepancy calls into question whether or not there are recorded versions of songs he’s claimed were just instrumentals. With the exception of songs that were posthumously registered, it’s entirely possible that certain tracks were developed further and the registered versions were simply the most recent versions at that stage.

Fans are going to be drip-fed material for the next 50 years, and that's why you're getting a lot of frivolous 3rd party shit now (ie, the imitation tours, biopic). They know if they release an album in 10 years time, you'll buy it. Shit if they release Thriller 50 with a slightly different cover and no other addition, you'll buy it. They say theyre concerned with getting new fans (and maybe the biopic helps achieve that) but I don;t think the other stuff does. I think they're concerned with their bank balance above all else and they've got a never ending cash cow that theyre going to slowly milk whether we like it or not.

We wont see another album until they've exhausted everything else.

Somebody (I think Mister_Jay_Tee) made an important observation: MJ, unlike most other “vintage” artists, is in a position where he needs to placate more to the new generation. Leaving Neverland poses a serious risk at being his definitive image moving forward, and it’s important to attempt to relay the focus onto his existing body of work with the biopic and the musical. Acts like Elton John and Queen aren’t fighting off pedophilia accusations, so this isn’t something they need to be acutely concerned with.

Obviously I’m not advocating completely ignoring the longtime fans, but it’s not really all that surprising in this context that an emphasis is being placed on newcomers.

Those are still not any arguments against releasing actual music - at all. There are more than a few working for The Estate / Sony. You can easily work on the Biopic, upgrade some of their circus, and work on some music in the studios.

Branca is probably not going to be around for too many years as the head of the MJ Estate hopefully.

exactly....the version with vocals is more than likely not registered but was still recorded in 85. The same could be said for Dirty Diana, which has registries from 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1987

I don't think I've said it exactly like that, but that is true. MJ (r.e. his camp) needs to take his narrative back before it's hijacked.

He would've done it with This Is It. And if he was alive, he wouldn't be being sued, and if he was, he'd fight it and win.

But now, there's different ways to take it back. Rebuttal documentaries, or in this case, the biopic, can be a huge answer. The only answer that can saturate even farther than a documentary for sure. It'd be very wise to take that chance.

I think what I've really said @AlwaysThere is that MJs music scales up pretty well to what they do today. There are many great artists, but they are primarily of their era. MJ was around long enough to engage with the 21st century, at least at it's start. And much of what he did in the 20th is informing what's done today anyway. There's a lot they can do, versatility wise.

And making music like this, informed by the 21st century, engaging directly with today's contemporarys, is the easiest way to make today's youth draw towards it. It just does help in that way. No disrespect to the great Tina Turner, who was excellent, but I just can't see many of the kids I know going down that rabbit hole. Those same kids already know Beat It and the other classics though, and they have TikTok, so whatever's popular, they know about.

So the question is, does the Estate have this in their possession?

I wish we knew but we know for sure The Library of Congress has copies of the tapes in their archives....plus if anything, I'd say some of this earlier material might even be at Hayvenhurst

How many songs did Michael produce with Teddy Riley for Invincible?
More than Shout, 2000 Watts, Don't Walk Away, Whatever Happens?

We don't know because titles such as On My Anger, Vibratonist and Belong 2 are rumours with no proof that they exist. Joy is the only Teddy Riley outtake that's certain to exist.

I wish we had more information on the demos between Thriller and Bad like Loving You or Al Capone

Al Capone was written and recorded in 1985 with Roger Troutman and according to Barnes, Rogers contribution were great but they were removed from the later version

Loving You is pretty much another song also recorded at Hayvenhurst.

Barnes said they were at Hayvenhurst recording full songs, not demos…..supposedly Michael didn’t know he had to record another album with Quincy…..had he and Quincy cut ties after Thriller, we probably would’ve gotten an album in 1986 with these songs on there

Agreed! In general his whole life between Thriller and Bad is a giant mystery, he was at the height of his fame and creativity yet he gave very few interviews, and those he did give were short and shallow. I can only assume it was the way he wanted it to be, just like the letter he wrote to himself during the Destiny tour.

You mean there is another Al Capone version

And we're still intrigued 40 years later.
