The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

You know what else was written prior to 11/17/1987?

CDQ TYLA (just leaked) 👀
tyla wasn't name checked during the deposition.

Interesstingly, Bill says proper vocals were recorded at Ocean Way. To my knowledge they've moved to OW in 1990. This would mean, there's an advanced lyrical version out there - all the Estate has to do is locate the multitrack tape.

The track was done at Hayvenhurst in Dec. '86.It wasn't complete enough [to present to Q].
Vocals done at Ocean Way in early Dangerous sessions.
This could be a day mix from the vocal sessions.
It's is authentic.

It was a joke completely unrelated to the topic, guess It was bad timing on my part, sorry

(It is true that TYLA in CDQ leaked today though, I wanted to derail the convo towards that. Lol)

So, the vocals we hear were recorded in 1990? Or there were additional/more complete vocals recorded in 1990?

It sounds more like 86/87 vocals to me.

The above is definitely an improvement on the version I have been listening to. The intro drums alone sound different, clearer. There is clipping on the synths still, they sound distorted but it's an improvement.

I have more different versions of Throwin' Your Life Away than I have of Smooth Criminal at this stage.
Is it a true lossless file?

Is it a true lossless file?
Could be. There seems to be a roll-off/cut. If it's really sourced from a cassette, it could have been transferred using a "shit" deck, just like Pensacola.

Best lossless copy I've seen online is a remaster shared on sharemania.us, which was done using the untouched WAV allegedly. (LINK)
Remaster itself is pretty shit, but this is what the spectogram looks like.

I don't think a further-developed 1990 version exists. Wikipedia and the book "Making Michael" mentions an earlier set of sessions being done in September 1988 at Ocean Way Recording, and the vocal take we have comes from a session mixdown from September 8th.

I mean who knows. Michael never organized his songs well so its harder to know for sure lmao

How awesome would it have been if MJ not only had an A-Team and B-Team for his songs, but also a C-Team: a group of producers that neatly finished up the rejected demo's for later usage on B-sides and anniversary albums.!

And this thread wouldn't be necessary too.. :)

Production was done in 1986 and vocals were done in 1988. I would also consider this a Dangerous track, not Bad.
