The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Maybe that’s why MJ didn’t release them. I’m not saying that MJs releases are all 100 percent timeless… but they are more timeless than Xscape
His albums are absolutely timeless, yeah. But the demos are very… not. The remixes gave them new life. We can debate the ethics and quality of said “new life,” but I would argue they’re no more or less dated than the originals.

So does anyone know if one source of Xscape Originals is better than others? Like does it differ between digital platforms and physical media, or are they all lackluster because of (non) mastering and the odd mono version, or even brickwalling/overcompression (like Bad 25)?

All releases share the same awful sound quality as far as I know.

Jumping to the HIStory era. I believe that "Ask DD" is in fact a post-Dangerous/pre-HIStory outtake:

The date written on the tape inlay is clearly 4-8-92 (April 8, 1992). SPYHO is said to have been finished with Bruce in April 1992. I wonder whether the song originates from the same sessions or maybe even from the Dangerous sessions (see "Ask Rene").

SPYHO was released as a promotional CD in Japan in 1991

Yet another confirmed unheard MJ song/collab. I haven't seen this collab been confirmed like this. So many songs out there, even if they aren't complete. Estate shooting them down as per usual

ok so... most possibly it's one of the known MJ classics but with added vocals by Mariah.
my guess: the estate would give us just one remixed song for the biopic best of compilation.

well.... my expectations are below zero (i want -new- songs!)

I wonder why we don’t have many HIStory outtakes, yet we have a bunch of Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, and Invincible ones. Same can be said for OTW. I really would love to hear more HIStory outtakes

Most of them were left as grooves, and the bulk of releasable leftovers were revisited for Blood On The Dance Floor ("Morphine" and "Is It Scary;" "Ghosts" and BOTDF outtake "In The Back" needed to be fleshed out after the HIStory sessions so they don't count). As far as I know, only three tracks are worthy of being released (technically two since one was remixed and released posthumously).

Can you name the two remaining tracks?

Apparently "Ask Rene" is just the instrumental groove of "2 Bad".

Because a good chunk of the work that went on HIStory was spent in revisiting Michael's old demos. At least a third of the songs that ended up on the album are songs from other eras, and the new songs that were left out ended up being released on other albums (Blood On The Dance Floor, TUC, and Michael) so now we're left with studio scraps.

I do think "Rich Girl" might be one of the rare few songs left from that era that's in a releasable state, though. Brad Buxer pointed out that the song was "far along" and that it's one that he wants to see get released the most.

It's not. Motif even said in the description that it's a bait-and-switch.
I said it’s not actually “Ask Rene” because I didn’t leak the version of 2 Bad called Ask Rene lmfao, I just posted the 2 Bad instrumental and said Ask Rene is basically just an early instrumental groove of 2 Bad that sounds identical.

Edit incase it isn’t clear enough: Ask Rene is 2 Bad before it was called 2 Bad, if you heard it, it sounds identical, nothing is really different. Like it’s probably possible to remake using the multitrack lol

The verses literally sound like an entirely different song to me so it's more likely 3T wrote them (bog standard love song) and the MJ "Solo Cut" is the hook with his classic placeholder lyrics.
dada deee describe what's going down
and even mmm hmmmm don't want you not around
don't wanna let me be......just let me be
you gotta see gotta seeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Why does Monday come before Tuesday?
Why do summers start in June?
Why do winters come too soon?
Why do people fall in love
When they're always breakin' up? Oh, why? (Why?)
Why do we love if love will die?

Why does Wednesday come after Tuesday?
Why do flowers come in May?
Why does springtime go away?
Why do people fall in love
When they're always breakin' up? Oh, why? (Why?)
Why do I love you? Tell me why
