Lmao I got that same brainrot, every time I hear someone say the word "water" that song starts playing in my head 😭

And also, it's crazy how "Water" complements "Stranger In Moscow" so well, whenever I listen to SIM I go back to the snippets we have afterwards. The song feels like an epilogue. I wish at least the full seminar recording would leak already, it's kind of jarring to listen to snippets that are all varying in quality. It can't be worth jackshit at this point lol
 
this is very random, but does anyone know anything about the 2008 Reproduction of I Have This Dream by K-R.O.K? I know it has a tribute artist but maybe Michael hired him to rework it or something. I would be curious to hear it official or not, since he is a pretty good producer.

I always took it that the hook was meant to be like a wordless sigh, similar to the chorus of ā€œEarth Song.ā€ Seems weird that MJ would layer background vocals for unfinished lines, right?

Maybe the Bad era just was the peak of his songwriting then, and once it didn’t eclipse Thriller, he stopped trusting in his hit making abilities. At least for a bit.
 
To be fair, the 90's werent very kind to MJ. The 80's had some tabloid junk, but I imagine after the allegations, his motivation took a hit. As did it when he became a father and took years to release Invincible. Then 03-05....The Thriller-Dangerous was probably his most prolifc song creation time.

I'm partial to later hits like HMH, DIG, The Loser, Hollywood, BoJ. But that's my preference. Of course, had MJ been able to finish these tracks, you know he would just knock it out.

A lot of stuff from Bad isn't just from the Bad sessions though. It's similar with Dangerous; he was reworking Dangerous era stuff up 'til he died. Liberian Girl and Dirty Diana are from the early 80s, but we associate them with the late 80s because of the release date. You can say they got reworked and remixed to be properly completed by the general sessions we associate with Bad, so they're more mid-80s. The period of work for Dangerous is then significantly less, with most production starting in 89 besides Dangerous evolving from Streetwalker. Even History borrows more from the late 80s and Dangerous sessions than Dangerous borrows outside its own sessions.

I will be very brave and stunning here: Dangerous is the most prolific, and therefore best era.
