The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

This is a bit random, but do we know when songs like Hot Street and Nite Line originally leaked? Some sources including books say the early 90s, some say the late 90s early 2000s, I got one source saying July 7, 2002, and a few others

In fairness, I think the source is important. If Branca says something, you’re fully justified in questioning/doubting. But since these people were producers and MJ’s son, I definitely take it with more legitimacy. (Also, for what it’s worth, the singles were being worked on in 2018 and were allegedly delayed because of LN, if I’m not mistaken. I buy that, tbh, since it was a Sony exec.)
I'll concede to the LN point def would've been a bad time but we're WAY past that by now. In 7 years since that doc came out they couldn't have done a single one? If they wanted to, they would.

I have heard that some of those Thriller throwaways were being traded by fans in the 90s so it's definitely possible.

I do think Leaving Neverland was a big factor and the main reason why so many things were delayed/cancelled. Considering that, the release schedule post that, actually makes sense. The MJ Musical was originally supposed to premiere in 2020 but was delayed to 2021 due to COVID, fully understandibly, and is now across the globe and more locations are being added. A soundtrack album was released in early 22 as well. Thriller 40, the first home media fan release, was released in 2022. The documentary premiered in 2022 as well, with its release the following year in 2023, due to publishing issues. The biopic was also heavily being worked on during that time. In 2025, filming wrapped, teaser released, MoFi released new reissues of Off The Wall and Dangerous and both albums‘ short films recieved upscales (sure they weren‘t good ones, but they had good intention and the regular audience might even prefer them over compressed 480p). Being two months into 2026, we have gotten a new trailer and tv spots, Number Ones reissued on Vinyl, Off The Wall and Bad remixed in Dolby Atmos, multiple reissues announced (incl the majority of Motown albums being reissued on Vinyl in Japan), and the rumours about new music don‘t stop. Now looking back on what was spoken and rumoured about between 2017-2020, maybe those will end up seeing the light of day some time.m, just not when we originally expected it. The two-part biopic rollout is definitely the perfect opportunity to do so and I strongly believe that this will be the case. Btw, I can also say that not only were the albums remixed in Dolby Atmos, but demos and live performances were as well, so we might up getting a cool announcement soon :)

If I'm remembering fully correctly

They leaked in shit quality in 2002 with higher quality versions leaking in November 2009

Are we certain that this Twitter page is legit? I feel like any legitimate law firm wouldn’t be posting this way on Twitter, much less on an account with no other identifying information, links, etc.
This. The thought that a law firm that has time to go back and forth with people on Twitter instead of dismantling them through the courts is laughable to me.

Lmfao I’m 100% percent certain this happened to him because he was selling a bootleg compilation album containing all of the recent leaks; it was on his YouTube channel.
Lol i never sell the bootleg i did only one for myself that i still got it but anyway when you don't know the true story you STFU

I don't know if it's true or not, but I read somewhere that unreleased tracks by Brad Buxer or Michael Prince were sold privately to certain people?

Hey, I have a question that's unrelated to the recent discussion, but do we know the names of the songs Ne-Yo wrote for Michael Jackson that he was supposed to record after "This Is It"?

And did Michael Jackson record any vocal takes for those songs (even if unfinished, with mumbling)?

All the songs were recorded by Ne-yo.
It is suspected that “Everybody Wants To Be A Movie Star” and “I Am That One” are MJ x Ne-yo tracks, although I’m not sure.

Yea, Korgnex said that they leaked on July 7th 2002 in cdq, and then they leaked in lossless on Nov 2nd 2009

Michael Jackson: All the Songs: The Story Behind Every Track states that at least Hot Street was shared on forums since the early 90s, so that's why I ask

Hot Street, Nightline, Carousel, She's Trouble, Billie Jean & WBSS were circulating since 1999 on online boards. (Last 3 tracks were different mixes than what's leaked in 2009)

I'm assuming for the tracks that circulated in the 90s. She's Trouble was the updated demo that released on Thriller 40, Billie Jean is the version referred to as "Demo #2" (the one we have the multis for), and WBSS is that other demo with the alternate vocal take.

The Facebook link doesn’t show but yeah from your edit, John pretty much said that. Has Janet ever been asked about it?
No, but Q-Tip confirmed she was concerned about it.

“I don’t know what that decision was on her part to be like, ‘He has to get a AIDS test,’” Tip said. “But she was definitely, ‘Well, if I’m going to kiss with him, he definitely has to.’”

The Abstract Poetic said ‘Pac was upset by the request.

“Me and the niggas was talking about it in his trailer. And he was like, ‘Don’t you know, they asked me to take a mutha! f—kin! AIDS! test!,” Tip recalled. “Nigga was hot. He was hot. I was like, ‘Word?’ He was like, ‘I could see if I was f—kin’ the bitch, then I’d understand. But the scene ain’t none of [that.]’ That’s how the nigga was.”
Yeah, real classy calling her a bitch. God I hate Pac.
