Hello Helen.

Yeah I watched the entire show too, but it was absolutely awful to be honest. The "bad guys" kept repeating from episode to episode and the guy who played Robocop was playing the part of Murphy a little bit too, robot like. You know, stiff.

Peter Weller was the best person to ever play Robocop as, although robotic, his movements were very realistic and you wouldn't want to mess with Robo. The guy in the series was just about slow enough for someone to stick two jumper cables to his ass and fry him and all without him turning around.

Also, in the credits. They didn't half make the "deceased" Murphy look geeky. At least Peters version looked like a cool person before his untimely death.

this girl is drive me crazy

Peter Weller didn't want to do the 3rd movie let alone the awful TV series, they also couldn't use much footage from the movies because of licenses, bare in mind "Orion" went bankrupt a long time ago and since then MGM and Warner Bros have both owned the movie rights. The main reasons for not doing Robocop 3 are:

1. The script was absolutely pathetic, the film dropped from an 18® to a 15 (PG-13) by Robocop 3
2. It was obviously intended for a more family orientated audience, too many CRAP jokes.
3. The suit that Peter wore for Robocop 1&2 made him lose weight rapidly due to the weight of the suit and the heat that it generated, they even had to put air conditioning in the suit while filming the movies to keep Weller cool.

Robert Burke (Robocop 3) was obviously hard-up for cash and isn't well known so he used the franchise to improve his career, it didn't work because the movie failed. The TV show was axed pretty sharpish too. Both are insults to the original movies.

Yeah. The tip is, if the first movie was good and you manage to make an average or reasonably well loved sequel then you really should think twice about a 3rd movie and if the original actors backdown from taking part then its definitely not worth the risk.

Robocop started as an 18 certificate movie, unrated now on DVD. Then became a childrens cartoon series in the 90s (how the hell did that happen!?) then the awful 3rd movie and shortly after that the reallly bad TV series me and Helen remember.

There's talks now about remaking the first one.

And people tell parents they shouldn't let kids watch horror/gore movies, yet the people that make them turn the characters into things that appeal to young audiences. Which child would watch the Robocop cartoon and not be tempted to watch the 18 certificate movie? seriously. Its not rocket science.

well said and i agree  you cant expect to win audiences on the name alone, if certain actors are missing, they will take notice!
