Ok, I have to make a thread now because I am overanalyzing by myself and need some opinions.

I see Michael everywhere on my social media now (even more than before), which is great, don't get me wrong. Also an algorithm thing for sure. People are celebrating his music, his short films etc. and I love how positive most people's opinions are. But... I have a weird feeling all the time.

Let me quote something I wrote some weeks ago, that maybe explains my thoughts best:

"I was on the train today and thinking about it. For me, it feels like I am carrying a glass ball, with a whole universe inside it and I am carrying it with all the other fans and we are carefully holding it, silently, fascinated.

And now other people want to touch it with their sticky little fingers, they don't wash their hands before touching it and are screaming "look, it's so cool!!!" even though they don't understand what it's all about. Maybe silly, but that's the picture that came into my mind."

I have seen influencers posting reels with his music etc. even if they don't have a clue about him. I assume just because it's trending and they get more views this way. People celebrating his music and probably don't do any research on him as a person and so on...

Don't get me wrong, I want as many people as possible to fall in love with his artistry and with him as a person. People who carry on his legacy in the future. But I feel like most people are so "fascinated" right now for some weeks and afterwards will forget everything about it...and I can't get over it. Don't know why this bothers me so much... because I tend to overanalyse, yes...but
... opinions please?

Will go to bed now and hopefully read some different points on the topic tomorrow. Thanks in advance 🌻.

And I am aware it sounds kinda dumb, don't tell me, please 😅. Just sharing my feelings.

Edit: I am not talking about new fans who are discovering him now and are really interested in him and his music!

i get that feeling completely. But im not sure either if its a short term thing as i know alot of MJ fans that felt they couldn't show their love for him because of all the allegations that now are posting his songs on their instagram stories and gushing about him

i think there's going tbe the initial wave of grifters, but afterwards itll calm down but still be bigger then before.

and of course once it calms down the estate will OBVIOUSLY announce either an album or concert film, because they arent stupid enough to pass up an opportunity like this, right?

right?

I totally understand, and actually I feel the same thing like I know it's great to see Michael is more popular between a huge amount of people right now but its like they're using his songs and the hype on his biopic as a chance for more views or something (not everyone but some of them) like a trend and then they will forget about it already and that annoys me fr

Right i agree with that so much!
They will try their best to get money as much as they can by his name exploiting everyone's love for him and the biopic, they have the biggest opportunity right now to use him as a "money-making machine" for themselves

First thing: I absolutely love your imagery / vison of the glass ball here!!! I am a very visual person as well, and really feel and understand the image / scene you describe here. Always trust the images that form in your head, has been my motto for some years now 😅 I think it is a gift to be able to have / see imagery like that, almost vision-like, dreamlike.

How about drawing this @someplace_else ?

What is most powerful to mere here: The sticky, almost greedy fingers of the people that reach out to the glass ball.

Yes, I hope so...I just want people to really see the big picture and not just to be like "oh, he really made great music" for some weeks.

Fingers crossed 🤞.

Yes, that's it...at the same time I feel silly because these people have a free will and can also decide to just enjoy his music and/or use trends for their advantage (there are always trends on social media, it's not just Michael). It's just that feeling in my guts... I don't like it 🙈.

Thank you ...well, let me finish BOTDF first, maybe then 😁.

Thank you all for the answers so far, I appreciate the exchange ✌️.

Truthfully, I don’t have this kind of mindset so, I can’t pretend to understand your thought process. Although I try and sympathise either way your uncomfortableness.

I’m not trying to be offensive but, this type of thing come across as, perhaps, jealousy stemming from thinking MJ ‘belongs’ to you/us. He really doesn’t. Also he wouldn’t think this way.

Michael’s music and artistry is for anyone and everyone to appreciate, not a selected few.

A lot of his music and short films were ahead of their time, and not then fully appreciated. It’s only normal other people will get into them years and years later. New people.

Being ‘old’ 😊 I have been a fan since the days of the Jackson Five so, having your mindset, I would resent a lot of you on here. 😁

I don’t because, perhaps, like Michael, I embrace all those that love his music. They don’t always get the full message of his ethos but, they are celebrating him in their own way 👍

Please remember, I think you love MJ very much, and this is all said with love but, please allow other people to enjoy MJ as well - however young they are. They are potential defenders of our great man when I/we pass on ❤️

Don't get me wrong, that's exactly what I didn't want to say.

Like I wrote in my first post, I want as many people as possible to enjoy his art and to become life long fans who really appreciate him. That exactly what I want and love to see.

I just don't like when people "use" the hype to get attention and klicks without caring about Michael or without being interested in him as a person, his mindset, etc.

As I say, it’s all with love.

I’m probably not getting it as I just don’t relate, sorry. 🤗

No problem, I am not mad about your answer, I asked for opinions 😊. I just don't want to come across as a "I am better than other fans" -person, because I really despise this attitude and that's not what I wanted to express.

For sure that could happen. Buy why worry about it? Enjoy it while it lasts. At the end of the day, nothing changes for us.

I understand your feelings completely and It's not just an algorithm thing, Michael is everywhere right now and even my friend said a few days ago that he had Michael all over his instagram page. I was proud and I said "yes, and I want MORE".

While I do understand your feelings which I feel at times because it is indeed happening that some people are just using his name to get popularity. Reflecting about it, I can't help but ask, hasn't this happened even while Michael was alive? I definitely didn't live it, but we all know that his whole life he had to deal with plenty of people, even famous people, that have used his name either for money or popularity.

While I detest these people and I agree with you, since it's not very genuine from their part, I am also hopeful that this biopic will actually bring new fans, either casual or die hard, that appreciate his art and the humanitarian that he was.

I hear you. You just want to protect the universe inside your globe. As a longtime fan, you know the weight of the horrific stories made up about Michael, the pain that the vultures caused him, and the beauty of his heart.

If the public treats Michael like a “trend” instead of a human, they’re just NPCS. Please know that they can’t actually touch it.

Loving Michael means being apart of a high frequency sanctuary. The connection each of us has with him is something unique to us. It is private and prestige. We are his family.

I hear ya, and that's ok. I just want to get the positive out of it. The hype may die down soon (tho I didn't want to end yet). The impact is insane, I never thought it could be something like this. Really great and touching feedbacks huhu 😭 in all walks of life mind you. He's in every charts now and in all social media platforms, streaming and digital. I'm inclining more that he's gain new fans and that some understood him more as human. Lets just embrace and feel the celebration. 😊🙌

There is another release after the dolby mixes, remember kirk franklin’s Man in the Mirror?

I didn't choose to worry, it's just a weird feeling in my guts when I see certain people pretending. I know it's something I shouldn't overthink because I can't change it.

Of course that happened to him, too when he was alive, which was even worse. But doesn't make it right when people act the same way now. But yes, I try to concentrate on the positive aspects and that hopefully many people will discover the real Michael and his art 🫶.

The NPC - part made me laugh haha, thank you for your beautiful words 🫶.

You’re welcome 😊❤️ Michael knows who the true fans are. I like to think that he’s grinning with joy at all the new love pouring in for him right now.

I understand what you are feeling with all this mediatic attention arount the bipoic release. it's the same thing for me because I go on instagram, it's mostly post about MJ. It's makes happy because more people are discovering his music and the legacy he left behind him. At the same time, I'm thinking to myself : Are these people genuine or not? Do they take advange of the movie success to celebrate MJ or not? What will happen once the movie is behind us?

For now, let's celebrate his music and enjoy his art...

🪷 Imagine your glass bowl has a finishing with that lotus effect. All the dirt from greedy fingers can be blown off with a single breath by loving fans. 🌬🌬😘

Some years ago I touched on Michael randomly in some conversation and suddenly got hooked into reading things up and listening and watching... (again). It felt almost like his spirit came and said, join my team, we need you. So I believe the more people come across him now, no matter how randomly, some proportion will get genuinely hooked too. His aura is capable of that. Michael wanted to be popular enough to attract even the money makers. That's why I think commercials referencing him and his charts being -partly!- supported by his songs getting on random playists is a good sign.
My feeling is not so much about fear of dirt, but of lighthearted people letting the glass slip and fall, to go with your image. So I do feel you, in a slightly different way, and I have been criticized, misrepresented and mensplained for that here. It's why I try to look out for signs about what proportion of the success might last longterm. I think it makes sense to believe in Michaels aura, but stay watchful at the same time. More so as I am not in social media so much and live in a rural area, where there is no signs of Michaelmania in the physical world, nor on radio. The movie has not even been screened here yet (I feel like in Japan) 😝

I totally get what you’re trying to say. And I know I too was thinking ”Okay they are just doing it for the clicks”, with some posts, but then also qiickly stopped myself because I was like ”They are still being positive. They are still celebrating Michael. They are still spreading love and positivity, no whatter what I might suspect their intentions are. Let it be what it is: A celebration of Michael in everyone’s own way.” ❤️🫶🏻❤️

I mean, even the You Rock My World dance trend before the biopic. I doubt all of them were doing it because they were fans or even because of the song per se or probably didn’t even know the song further than thst shoet bit and were just doing it for the ”social media trend”. But they still helped getting MJ and the song out there and still made MJ ”trendy” among the young folks, so I was happy because if that. After all the lies and all the crap and negativity, I’m just happy to see people celebrating Michael. ❤️

And also as an older fan who has been around for decades….it has always been like this. People jump on the Michael Mania, some because it’s the ”it” thing at that moment and what ”everyone is talking about and finds to be cool”…but that is also how many people become fans. They start by jumping on the bandwagon….but then just never get off because they get genuinly hooked! 😬😍❤️😂😂😂 And because Michael is EVERYWHERE, kids and teens and young adults learn about him and hear his music and get inspired and become fans….and older people rediscover him and become fans again…or those who always liked him but were afraid to show it because of the allegations finally feel they can openly show they love him once again.

And I think Michael has always been about the global love, peace, harmony and joy. People all around the world have been struggling for years with negativity, violence, wars, financial depression….they are all craving the light. And Michael has always brought the love and the light and the unity into the world and people can feel that. They have all been craving for that. And I think that is what we are all seeing and why Michael is being so loved again around the world: People can FEEL the love! 🫶🏻❤️🌎🫶🏻 Adnd I’m ALL for it!!! ❤️ It’s touching to see!! So much so, that it actually often moves me to tears to see it!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ It gives hope. 🙏🏻❤️

Love all these great answers 🫶.

And @squirrelinthetree I am in a relatively big city and can't see any "Michaelmania" here either...only on Social Media, but there's always a lot of Michael stuff there because of my algorithm, so... 🤷😅.

But the charts and the earnings the Biopic made so far are very clear about the fact that it's an incredible success and that makes me very happy. Just wish there were more people close to me in "real life" to meet with and discuss the Biopic, watch concerts, etc.

Speaking of Michael Mania. Some of you who did not experience MJ while it was happening in real time have no idea how big he really was. Today is not even close.

Agreed, I was there.

But, that still doesn’t take away exactly how unprecedented this is, in modern times, for a Legacy Artist.

It’s HUGE!!! 🤗👏👏👏👏👑😬👑😬

I’m in London. You don’t get a lot bigger than that. And according to our children, MJ is everywhere! And most of their young friends can’t stop talking about him! 💪👏👌👏👏👏

It’s also gone way beyond ‘personal algorithms’. Millions of new, young fans are posting content you can only miss if you live in the middle of a jungle that has now human contact or media.

😉👌🤣🤣🤣🤣
