Ok. What do I know?
Michael has just reached a new peak of
7462 points!
As you were![]()
So cool he overtook Eminem
I tunes:What are the current top 3?
Ok stats and chart nerdsanother question:
What do you think explains the differences of MJs ranking (or any observations for other artists) among different streaming services?
Do you think the users differ by e.g. age? Or is it maybe a difference between the people selecting songs to include in Playlist? Or could the estate marketing section for once have made a clever marketing deal to push charts on i tunes and Apple (via Playlists and suggested songs)?
As we "discuss" here many times, streaming can be manipulated to some degree (@R1chard , where are you these days).
(This is not meant to diminish any mind blowing numbers!)
It's also interesting to ponder on the Idea that the more intense fans probably have not contributed proportionally to streaming success, because they are more likely to own physical and digital albums.
It doesn’t matter that some artists are bigger on one format than others. They all add up.
Believe me. If it were that easy to manipulate the figures, why wouldn’t they do it so that MJ is number 2 all year round?
In fact, why doesn’t everybody do it? Unless you think the estate are party to tactics no one else knows
Nah. You still don’t seem to trust the fact that getting nearly 8000 points - overtaking all current artists and catching #1 - is simply unheard of for a Dead Legacy artist.
Richard (whoever that is) can’t help you here.
For some reason your looking for something they isn’t there. Instead of appreciating what ‘your idol’ is doing.
It really is BIG numbers. Don’t just look at one source. Take in what beltrano et al are posting and see for yourself.
However if someone has told you it’s all manipulated, (Richard?), then perhaps charts/$sales/stats are not for you?
I'm old school... is there an easy way to put this number into a context? What does it mean to get 8000 points and how many would get such a number today?Nah. Only 2 at the moment;I'm old school... is there an easy way to put this number into a context? What does it mean to get 8000 points and how many would get such a number today?
Ok... but what does it mean getting 8000 points? At this point it means as much to me as getting ... I don't know... three bananas?Only 2 at the moment;
#1 Justin bieber
#2 Michael Jackson
#3 is on 5000 points
Taylor Swift less.
I don’t know what else to tell you, other than what I’ve said. It’s MASSIVE.
Google kworb charts.
I’m old school - 55 years old - but we’re not in 1980’s anymore, and I move with the times![]()
Well... given that I still don't know how it works, it can't be that easy either. I mean... is it units sold, is it clicks on Youtube, is it streams on Spotify? But I guess I should get used to the fact that no one knows how anything works anymore. It means MJ’s albums/singles/videos are blowing up the charts at the moment more than every other artist apart from Justin Bieber.
It’s really not that hard![]()
A lot of people ‘know’ how it works. It’s very simple.Well... given that I still don't know how it works, it can't be that easy either. A lot of people might... and maybe one day I will get a chance to talk to one of them.A lot of people ‘know’ how it works. It’s very simple.
We just don’t have time to educate everyone who can’t use Google, it’s tiring after a while.
Fact MJ is currently the 2nd most streamed/downloded/viewed/listened to etc etc etc artist in the world.
It’s so simple.
If it’s that important to you, I do hope so.A lot of people do

Sorry, I wrote that disclaimer in every post but still my questions are misunderstood.Nah. You still don’t seem to trust the fact that getting nearly 8000 points - overtaking all current artists and catching #1 - is simply unheard of for a Dead Legacy artist.

Probably none. People stream these days. It's quite a poor album - if you were going to buy a MJ CD it wouldn't be the soundtrack. The only way it will get anywhere is if the numbers are manipulated.Does anyone know how much sales of the michael biopic soundtrack gone up to?
Yeah, I was thinking about that a while ago. I think most of it is random, but there is something about which songs have been paid for to be placed on which default playlists. Remember most people don't actually pick the songs they listen to, they just passively go with what they're told to listen to.What do you think explains the differences of MJs ranking (or any observations for other artists) among different streaming services?
True. OG fans already have all the albums on CD, therefore they play no part in any sales or streaming charts. It's also interesting to ponder on the Idea that the more intense fans probably have not contributed proportionally to streaming success, because they are more likely to own physical and digital albums.
I think that's the point. It's abstract and meaningless... We must remember none of this data represents actual sales.I'm old school... is there an easy way to put this number into a context? What does it mean to get 8000 points and how many would get such a number today?
