The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

When Bill asked where did he wanna go….i want him to reply Salvation Army 😝
Unfortunately, it's probably just the scene before they go for a drive and sit on the car talking. So salvation army will be tomorrow, as expected...

a lion that devours the entire Ca$hio family
The rights for their life story were expensive, gotta capitalize on that now! 🤣 Looks like he's wearing the same clothes he was wearing in the scene with baby Bubbles, so it could be Bubbles's arrival... But that would be a huge truck for just one small baby chimp!

Janet Jackson in furious clash with brother Jermaine at screening of Michael’s biopic : ‘You’re so jealous’

But within minutes of the lights coming up at the end, the atmosphere shifted dramatically when Janet Jackson, 59, began dissecting the film with brutal precision, according to multiple people in the room.

The superstar singer — one of the family’s most powerful figures and the second most sucessful artist after Michael — reportedly criticized everything, from the performances to the makeup.

“She had something negative about almost every scene,” said one person present at the screening.

But, insiders told Page Six, Jermaine Jackson, 71, had enough and stood up and sharply confronted Janet.
“You are going to miss this wave,” Jermaine told his sister, according to one family insider who witnessed the exchange. “You are so jealous — just get on the wave.”

"You are going to miss this wave" seems like a very Jermaine thing to say. I'd have more respect for a family member that cuts the film to pieces than one that is thinking of themselves and how they can use the "wave".

If true, of course. Could very well be. We already know what Paris said.

Asking Matt Forger, he said that quite a few „creative liberations“ were taken for the sake of storytelling back in November. Completely reasonable tho, if it wouldve been 100% accurate, it may have not worked for the general audience as good as it could‘ve. The tracklist configuration of Thriller being one of them.

That's all fine for the average viewer. It's clearly not fine for his daughter (and now apparently his sister).

The "creative liberations" taken for Bohemian Rhapsody are probably the biggest reason that the majority of big Queen fans (who would use their MJJC equivalent like us, let's say) loathe the film. The changes were made at Freddie's expense which made it ten times worse. But hey, it made 900 mil.

I just hope that the creative liberties made were not as detrimental to MJ as Bohemian Rhapsody was to Freddie, or certainly Back to Black to Amy Winehouse (which was absolute horsesh*t what they did - and the film itself).

At the end of the day, for anyone who dislikes or even hates the film, they can simply just never watch it again and move on. I haven't thought about Bohemian Rhapsody since the last time I saw it until the past few months with the build up to this and once it's all over I'll probably not think of it again for a long time. If I don't like "Michael" it will be as simple as that and I can move on like any other film. He's not my father or brother.

He has always , forever rode the wave tbh. He is the brother I respect the least, so not surprised with this new report that he (supposedly) told Janet that and unfortunately I've always been with Paris in the concept of this and now surprisingly, Janet. But we'll see I guess.

Edit -Ugh..

I think any Michael Jackson project will atp have a controversy of some kind, because that’s how it’s been ever since Thriller. A story about his life is going to be right at the forefront of that.

Considering Janet is not on board at all with this film , her reaction is to be expected.

I’m more concerned about the comments regarding the acting and make up.

The biggest though was the mention that we’re all looking for that moment again , and it’s Michael, but he’s not even here or something along those lines!

I hope they did not mean that despite a good portrayal from Jaafar, it still lacked that magic that the real MJ brought

I wasn't worried about the makeup until I saw that picture of Jafaar in the Beat It scene beside Antoine if I'm honest. That was one of the things I thought would have been spot on.

Germ is back in the USA? I thought he was a wanted man lol

Of course it's going to lack that magic. No one else in existence brought what MJ brought to the table. But it's a celebration of that. And so far, it looks like a damn good one.

Does this not pretty much confirm that the film ends at Victory, with the live performance of Bad being the beginning/ending scene? The words “early solo career” are even used
Antoine mentions Bad and Michael being free so maybe it works backwards?

I know this might come across as a lot of reaction/commentary about the movie, maybe even a bit too much but I NEED to say it. Some people will watch this film and just enjoy it on the surface. They’re just fans, they like the feeling it gives them, they like seeing anything related to Michael and that’s perfectly okay. They might not question the concept, the plot or the production, they just enjoy it as it is and for them that’s enough.
But then there are fans who go deeper and some who maybe go too far? Fans who are really skeptical, who question everything, who know a lot about Michael’s life. And sometimes we might take it too far, we dig into his private life, analyze everything, try to understand him? maybe we do this because we love him but sometimes it can go a little too far!
I think I fall somewhere in the middle? I love the concept of the movie, the production. Making a film about him is a really good l thing and I know it’s still respectful, especially with the family involved! That’s the part casual fans will enjoy but for me, sometimes it doesn’t feel like Michael’s energy is really there? I see people saying “oh my God, this is amazing, I wish Michael could’ve seen it, could’ve been part of it” but I don’t think he would’ve been completely happy with the concept or how the story is going to be told? Like he don’t want his story to be told, because he’s genuinely don’t seem happy about it? Maybe if he were alive, it would’ve been something different, not exactly a biopic in this form? I don’t think he would’ve wanted to be portrayed this way, even with his family involved, I can’t help but feel like there’s something missing. His relationship with them was complicated, It wasn’t perfect, which is normal in families but there was always something off in THEIR family. I don’t think he hated them obviously but I’m not sure he fully loved them either? Yeah they supported him in the hardest times, yes but there was always something layered and complicated in that love? I’m thinking about his spirit watching this, maybe it’s a little delusional but I feel like he might not have fully approved? Like please don’t tell my life, as if it’s completely same as being naked in front of hundreds of people?

I’d be more worried about looking at things through a certain lenses related to MJ. His beliefs, how they changed over the years, fulfilling certain quotas on topics and sanitizing certain characters. Not even in this case someone like Joe, but Katherine. She is alive. Have they consulted what she would want or how she would portray this?

I really dislike how the director say that Bad is the moment he was free; that mean it was not really Michael during Off the Wall or Thriller ? That seem really that everything before Bad suck like lot of fans like to say; I feel they will show that his family were the ultimates bad guys; that sound more an Estate mandate that an objective analysis of his life, the fact is the problem really begin for him with Bad, not before.

He's referring to being free from Joseph as his manager and had complete control of his career.

ie. Freedom.
