The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

Michael biopic huge numbers opening !!
Est-ce Donald Trump a posté ca?! :ROFLMAO:

Je rigole, je sais que tu es francophone.

But yes, it's tracking well for the US. More interested in worldwide but tickets aren't on sale for most countries yet.

Michael it's global yes

Deadline reporting a 50-60m opening, the largest of any biopic
Can we at least use the right words? That's not a report. That's a speculative guess.

And again, that doesn't make it a better movie than something that made 49m.

Please, let's just ignore the fake stuff and wait until actual numbers are available.

There Will be no Smooth Criminal?
Exactly. How can you make a movie about MJ and forget that one time when MJ actually made a movie??

Is this your first time ever discussing a big film prior to release? Because that's how it's coming across.

I don't want to sound too skeptical, but did anyone else notice how much the camera jumps in that clip of Michael? It was obvious they wouldn't film it all in one take. After all, Jaafar isn't Michael, and he'll never be able to execute the moves that perfectly. You can tell from the clip that they’re even picking specific camera angles just to hide the imperfections in his dancing

And, what's wrong with this? Nobody is expecting Jaafar miraculously morphing into MJ.

That’s exactly my point. For some reason, I thought there’d just be a lot of cuts, but that the camera angles themselves would be as clear as possible

Its a movie and that is what you do. But I'm pretty sure they did also film the performance many times in one take and then edit together the best parts. One thing I'm not sure about is the placement of those audience shots. The one during the moonwalk is too long. Also the edit right before moonwalk is a bit odd. He can be seen doing the same move twice. 6:35.

Jafaar does amazing job though.

Can you go away? So incredibly pedantic, for what?

Please, get off your high horse.

Musical biopic, surely. Oppenheimer did over $80 million. Also I'm surprised Straight Outta Compton isn't on any biopic lists - it made $60+ million.
Yeah not quite sure what this report is to be honest

Theyve ignored Compton as you said

Seen a few film heads think it's a lowball but let's see. I hope it's a success but it won't effect my personal enjoyment of the film

I really do not like that audience shot right before the moonwalk, it’s like there’s a pause then we go to the audience shot then back to Jaafar and then he does the moonwalk , not a fan of the editing there.

Also, this is major nitpicking but Jaafar’s head moves a lot more like later Michael doing the moonwalk than the Motown25 performance.

I bet he will do the toe stand perfect too.

How can you say this is fake stuff? We can see that you know nothing about how the box office works. This is called projections. When the movie releases, the final projections will be revealed.

We are here to discuss about the movie not to attack someone who's voicing his opinion.

This would fit with previous statements:
On October 12, 2023, at the MJ LIVE tribute concert at Harrah's Showroom in Las Vegas, Jackson's son, Prince confirmed that the production team was looking over his father's unreleased music to use in the film.[3] On April 20, 2025, Mirror reported that the Michael Jackson Estate has been "exploring songs in his archives, which could feature in the blockbuster." It was revealed that producers have been reviewing outtakes from the Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous recording sessions to modernize them for the film's soundtrack.[4] No unreleased songs have been featured in the finished release of the soundtrack, but they may still appear in the film.

That snippet sounds legit , Seems to cut off right as Michael says whispers.

Can’t believe this could be our first listen ever to the real Buffalo Bill. Seems catchy.

I’m still not convinced though it is real 😆

Tbf that’s what was making me doubt it!

The Jacksons have iconic and very recognisable background vocals.
But there could be more versions, because Buffalo Bill is also a Bad outtake:
"Buffalo Bill" is an unreleased song written by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, intended for both the Victory and Bad albums.
"Buffalo Bill" was recorded in 1983 at Soundcastle Studios for the Victory album, although it didn't make the cut.[1] It was revisited at Hayvenhurst for the Bad album, though it didn't make the final selection either.[2]
