The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

What does that have to do with only old people listen to The Beatles? Earth Song wasn't a single in the USA, but Free As A Bird was. Anyway, any success The Beatles had, Mike made money from it since he owned their publishing. The US is a much bigger market than the UK. Why do you think all of those 1960s British Invasion acts tried to make it here? The ones who did are still highly remembered today like The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, & Led Zeppelin. The ones who didn't get much popularity in the US like The Dave Clark 5 are not.

I was saying I almost never see them in charts. Especially ones with modern metrics - which are mainly influenced by younger people.

I may not have explained it very well, and went off in a tangent 🤪🤣

A very interesting tangent’ though, I hope some will agree. 😊👍

Isnt it just displayed more on the sides instead all at the front and maybe a bit of additinal lighting on the sides?
Sort of like a 4:3 film where they have colored borders depending on the scene to make it 16:9 and fill out the format?
Its actual extra image on the sides
Screen X format looks interesting. Posted on X by @mjsunbaenim. You get more image on the sides but I suspect its only for some scenes.

I know MJ goes viral every now and again on social media but since the movie came out I've seen so many viral MJ related posts. Nice to see.
It's funny because MJs numbers were always so great I didn't really see what boost he could get from the film.

How stupid was I? It's been so, so fun to see Michael as the number one artist in the world again. Just thoroughly deserved.

It is not fictional.
It's a fictional story based on real events. The movie literally tells you who the writer is.

Obsessed??? It's an observation. Nothing more.
I mean, lots of people are totally and utterly obsessed with sales. It's by far the most dominant topic in this thread.

And yeah, it's strange. People don't obsess over 7-up vs Sprite or Wrangler vs Levi's. Or whether American Airlines sold more seats than Lufthansa. Not unless you work for those companies or have investments.

But music/movies seem to be different to every other industry.

Personally I would be more interested in seeing how many people actually watch the movie, instead of how many dollars it makes.
Yes, that would be a much better way of doing it. With $, you can't compare across eras because of inflation. But raw numbers are raw numbers. At least that tells you something (even if it's still unimportant).

But clearly the movie industry doesn't want to tell you the truth, because all they want to do is claim their newest movie is "the most successful of all time." It's just a way to dupe gullible people. And it seems to work.

But like I said, in the end only the dollar counts.
To the studios.

Dollars are the only thing that counts to the studios.

It doesn't affect me and it doesn't affect you.

I know it’s #1 in France with 10,248 units shifted. But No news in breakdown of format.

Michael shifts more CD’s and ‘old school’ formats, as a percentage, than a lot of modern acts though.
Yeah, it's gonna be CDs dominating. But again, it's a low volume product because buying music died out a decade ago.

Current figures for the last month:
Amazon USA 1000 CDs, 50 vinyl
Amazon UK 600 CDs, 400 vinyl
France 200 CDs (no number for vinyl)
Germany 200 CDs (no number for vinyl)
Italy 100 CDs (no number for vinyl)
Spain 50 CDs (no number for vinyl)

Feel free to extrapolate these ratios to be consistent with other data you have.

It wouldn't surprise me if CD was 95%.

Is it normal that the film is allready going out of IMAX?
Yep. Each cinema has only one Imax screen and up to 20 other screens. They have to drop one film when the next one comes out.

We have to wait Japan and SK too as these were massive in BR also.
Yeah, people just need to be patient, lol.

it’s well known there are millions and millions of white rock fans who love almost anything in that genre and will support it.
Um...

Wow.

Knowing the white rock dominated media, predominantly full of old men, they will add all 4 together - if they can make out the Beatles‘ film are “more successful than tje Michael Jackson biopic”! 🤔😂😂
Remind me who's the negative one?

Why you chose to see it as a negative is beyond me. 🤷‍♂️
It's almost like you're obsessed with accusing people of being negative.

Seems like you're just overanalyzing, and have a hard time accepting opinions that are different to your own.

After Christmas, Michael’s record company sent the Beatles Cd back to Apple Records
But you'd never use "shade", right? 🤣

Richard, can I call you Rich? You're in the UK right? Where abouts are you? I'm guessing you still haven't seen the movie?

Let's meet up and watch it together, I'll pay! Let's start week three off strong. I genuinely want to know your opinion of the actual "product". We can even get popcorn and a few beers (not tango ice blast though, that shit is expensive).

Reach out!

And again, I never said it's a negative thing. Why you take everything as an attack is beyond me.
And again. Misrepresenting what I said. This is getting silly now, well was since you decided to respond all hurt and in attack mode.
Don't take it personal, I had that kind of conversation too.
Something I really like about this forum is how knowledgeable and supportive people are about mj (except for a troll now and then), with experts in different areas, from personal life questions to unreleased songs to stats etc. And with different personal perspectives.
So we can talk about questions and things that seem contradictory or might cast "shade" at first sight, and that we can't discuss anywhere else where haters are always around (And there have been very hard to read critical threads here). From the group someone always has a fact or viewpoint to share that helps to understand (my great thanks to so many users 💙). When we then talk to others, we are prepared to answer their questions too. Also, it makes sense to bring some consistency into discussions by picking up things from earlier conversations (that new members have missed).
I truly feel we must keep this quality alive and 🙏stop calling each other out or force our worldview on each other🙏 (and there is more than one person who does that, but still a minority).
Can we stop calling each other "silly, delusional, lost, blinded", and what not, and avoid ridiculing statements of others with "lmao" or "🤣🤣🤣"?
I may come across sensitive, but I simply would leave a room with such aggressive atmosphere in real life, and i think many others would too.
Please. 🫶

Don't forget to give your rating in the MJJC Michael poll

After 59 votes, its at 69%.

Give your honest rating, we are all MJ fans here. We don't need to bump numbers up amongst ourselves, it literally serves no purpose.

I dunno.

Starting conversations with “this is no shade, but….” or “I’m not belittling MJ’s success, but…” is normally a precursor to exactly that 🤣😂

It’s like when people say, “I’m not trying to be rude but….” and then going on to be rude 🤷‍♂️😂😂

As I say. I don’t see other artists fans dissecting the success of their favourite. They celebrate it. I just find it rather odd.

Maybe it’s just me 🤔🤷‍♂️

In any case. This current success. of the film smd MJ’s music is unprecedented. So, no serious person can even think the opposite. Let the sun shine. I say! 👌💪👌

Appreciate your words and I would have things to add, but wasted enough time on an idiot poster, who keeps lying and misrepresenting what I said. Not worth my time.

I am pretty sure based on a few things I've seen and conversations I've had with different cinema chains that the film will release digitally in June
Sometimes films can still be playing at a very reduced rate when it's released to digital.
