Thriller 25 proving that MJ still has very good Sales Potential

So if T25 debuts at #1, wouldn't this be breaking some kind of record? I mean has any #1 album from the past ever been re-released and debuted at #1 AGAIN?

I am pretty sure it will break some record. That's why although normally i don't multi-buy copies, i am making an exception with this one. I really think that the margin between Johnson's album and T25 is small so i am happy to be part of/and make this piece of 'history' happen by getting T25 to no. 1 slot.

I was happy with top 5 but if the margin is small enough well why not go all the way. Who knows we could be telling our kids etc 25 years from now how 'Sony/BMG sent this message encouraging fans to buy T25 so the next day I etc etc ....'

Keeping with average sale numbers.. 1st week compaired to overall sales..

Thriller 25 selling: 115,000 in U.S. it's first week

could mean: 1 million Sold (In U.S.) total in the long run

Now my guess considering no videos, no performances it will lower the sale ration, so I would guess 860,000 U.S. overall

4 million world wide

we'll see how close I get...

This is taken from a math equation I did, taking the average weekly sales compare them to over all sales..

u realize the sales of T25 will be to Thriller's overall total....??? which means Michael is making a comeback (with Thrillering sales from a 25year old album) where at the end of the day... sales .. won't be an issue...

this T25 is just GENIUS.. at any angle you look at it!!

I hope Michael will understand that Thriller 25th sell so much NOT because Akon or WillIam, but because We love the news packages, covers, booklet, and for all time, and his effort to release it.... that's why I will buy Thriller 25... akon, will & fergie are not the reason why I will buy it....
Personally what I did not buy are the singles, with akon & Co., because I will not listen songs sings by by others, I dont feel to go in my stereo and listen wanna be starting something by akon... I prefer listen Michael's voice and the original version.... I dont need to listen others. :)

I don't think the remixes were done for the long standing fans...
there is something for everyone with this T25 release....

................................just GENIUS

I just want him to get on top of the Eagles in the US. Do yall think that will happen?

I guess he would have to sell 2 mill in order for that to happen, hah?

Tell me about it! I'm sick of hearing about the Eagles when I should be hearing about Michael!!! Eagles-shmeagles , it's time for MJ to TAKE BACK HIS THRONE! :) (I don't know why U.S. sales are so important! we arent the only ones who buy cd's! It doesn't matter what country you're in, if you are a person buying the song, then it should count!)

SCREW U.S. SALES!!!!!!!! WORLDWIDE IS WHAT COUNTS!!-(sorry fellow countrymen!)

Check this headline. Michael is featured.

I didn't know how well the remixes had been done, but they are really fine and these previews should persuade anyone to buy or download it.

Don't worry about the site, since featured music is legal, MJ does not lose out in earnings.

LMAO!
Yeah right. If Thriller25 is a rousing success, I don't think Michael's gonna be sitting around thinking, "Wow, I'm glad I made the cover EXTRA shiny!"
Whether you like it or not, Akon, Fergie (ugh!), Will.I.Am, and Kanye helped out some of Thriller's potential sales.
Who cares if you don't like Fergie.
There's a 99.9% chance Will, Ne-Yo, & Akon will be featured on MJ's new album in some way, shape or form. You gonna complain about that too?

Hollaback.

I honestly think MJ would have debuted at #1 if enough CDs had been sent to stock.

^ I agree.

There has been major supply issues thorughout the world. I'm under the impression ost stores were shipped an initial indent order of around 20 units of the Zombie Deluxe Hardback and THIS week Sony are sending the second shipment out.

Weird. Would've thought they would've wanted to leverage off their own advertising spend for the album, which couldn't have been cheap. Last time i checked global campaigns still cost an arm and a leg.

I havent bothered calling the NZ branch to tell them howto do their job. But ive vistited numerous stores who are out of stock and while it looks cool. 5 stores we are talking about 100 units. Which is a drop in the Thriller Ocean.

The groundwork has definitely been laid for Michael to springboard off of himself like a musical gymnast. His newest album is going to have a very good takeoff after Thriller 25 has run its course. Actually, from the looks of things, Thriller 25 is never going to be done. The new album and Thriller 25 are going to end up overlapping. Get ready to break out the cases of champagne. There's going to be a lot to celebrate.

2008 is going to be great!

It's starting now...

I agree. My friend went to 3 (three) Best Buys and she said they were all sold out and they told her they were going to get a shipment of 20 (twenty) this week. If they are only getting limited quantities then people, like my friend, don't buy the album and based on what I been reading here many people arent gettin the album.

Johnson Remains No. 1; Winehouse, Hancock Soar

February 20, 2008, 11:00 AM ET
Katie Hasty, N.Y.

In a slow week for new releases, Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static" remains No. 1 on The Billboard 200 for a second week, despite a 52% sales slide. The Brushfire effort sold 180,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The bigger news is significant jumps for artists who appeared on the Feb. 10 Grammy Awards, led by top winner Amy Winehouse. Her Universal Republic set "Back to Black" bounces back into the top 10 in a big way, zooming up 24-2 for a new charting high and sales week with 115,000. Winehouse led the Grammy field with five wins.

Album of the year winner Herbie Hancock's "River: The Joni Letters" (Verve) explodes 159-5, with a 967% bump to 54,000, while Foo Fighters' "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace" (Roswell/RCA) climbs 65-22 with 33,000 (+160%). Kanye West's "Graduation" (Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam) ascends 64-40 with a 74% gain, selling 23,000.

"As I Am" (J) by Alicia Keys, who performed twice at the ceremony, stays put at No. 3 for a second week with 109,000 (+36%). The "2008 Grammy Nominees" compilation climbs a notch 5-4 with 72,000, a 40% increase.

Back on The Billboard 200, the Rhino soundtrack to "Juno" holds tight at No. 6 with 53,000 (+13%), while Taylor Swift's Big Machine self-titled album ascends 10-7 with 52,000 (+35%). Also moving 52,000, Sheryl Crow's "Detours" (A&M/Interscope) falls 2-8 with a 44% sales hit.

Mary J. Blige's Matriarch/Geffen album "Growing Pains" slips 6-7 with 49,000 (+9%) as Atlantic's soundtrack to the film "Step Up 2" steps up 13-10, moving 45,000 units with a 44% increase.

Considering its status as a catalog release, the new 25th anniversary reissue of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (Epic/Legacy) was ineligible to chart on The Billboard 200 this week. But it does bow at No. 1 on the Top Pop Catalog Albums tally after selling 166,000. The project includes reworked "Thriller" tracks by Akon, Kanye West, Fergie and will.i.am.

Only two other albums bow inside the top 50. Simple Plan's self-titled Lava/Atlantic album starts at No. 14 with 39,000, and the "WOW Gospel 2008" multi-label compilation debuts at No. 34 with 28,000.

Sales this week are up 16.1% from last week at 9.78 million units and down 11.6% from the same week last year.

I am glad to se that is doing well in many different countries. I guess we will have to see how long it last but it is a good sign that he still has sales potential. So far good chart positions in the Usa, Canada, UK, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark,Finland, Switzerland, Spain, Holland, Poland, France, ireland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, New zealand .
