Thriller 40th Anniversary

Sonic Fantasy is just taking a long time. The director is very transparent on Twitter and hasn’t said anything about the estate, so I’m assuming he’s still looking for a distributor.
From what I read, he's found some worldwide distributors, but it'll only be out at some point next year.

What about Sonic Fantasy is the Estate blocking a release? Hardly anyone even knows about Thriller 40 except us fans. Thriller 4k should have dropped for Halloween wtf is the Estate even doing?
Asking wtf is the estate doing is like asking a wall why is it hard. I honestly think they don't give 2fcks. They aren't fans. Sometimes for some... they don't care about money. Sometimes they have enough not to care. If that makes since

hopefully we’ll start seeing trailers for the documentary soon. this is what I’ve been waiting for the most 🙂

16mm CAN be scanned at 4k, film has no set resolution. its just that the diminishing returns for scanning 16mm ends at 1080p, after that its not seen, unless compression comes into play, which there is alot of on youtube. so 4K is neccisary in order to not be extremely compressed as the 1080p encoding on youtube is terrible.

Wasn’t it already established that Billie Jean, having been shot using 16mm film cameras, can’t be converted to 4K?
It was established that it can be, technically. But the game of making everything as "K" as possible is a silly one anyway. Most things top out at 2K, 8K isn't standard yet, 4K is the sweet spot very little actually reaches.

michael said even if people spend money on an album they should get the best of it the estate doesn't hold up like scream album and thriller40

So now it`s time to get the airing-date

Thriller 40

On the heels of the iconic album's 40th anniversary, GRAMMY-winning documentarian, music historian and author Nelson George announced that he’s hard at work on an official documentary about the making of the King of Pop’s legendary 1982 opus and groundbreaking short film.
"The release of 'Thriller' redefined Michael Jackson, taking him from teen star to adult superstar, who composed memorable songs, sang beautifully and reached the highest level of on-stage performance," George said in a statement. "The album, and the short films they inspired, created a new template for marrying music and image. It’s been a privilege to explore this extraordinary album and revisit its magic."
Featuring exclusive footage and candid interviews, the 2023 documentary will also focus on Jackson’s skyrocketing career at the time of the album’s release and its impact on the world and popular culture.

Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean each were playing Canvas', looping clips from the music videos, on Spotify today. It seems to be gone, or at least not working on my end. It was pretty floor regardless.

Billie Jean was still not 4K, smh.
