Tito Jackson to release solo Album, to present at 'Under the Bridge', London UK, 17th July 2015

^^Did he say that TJ is stepping up to be a parent of 9 children??? I thought TJ only had 2 or 3 kids-

My goodness-I had no idea. I guess I lost track of of the nieces and nephews and cousins once they started getting older and married, etc. I loved seeing them when they were small and teenagers and were out with their parents or Michael.

Michael Jackson’s spirit regularly visits his family – especially when they perform, brother Tito reveals.

He tells us: “All the time I feel his spirit , especially when I’m performing with the brothers on stage at a live performance.

“You can feel the spirit all the time, absolutely. It’s a happy feeling because Michael was a warm, happy, loving person. It’s a comforting feeling.”

Tito, 61, adds: “I have had times when I silently talk to him. I’ll ask him a question. ‘What should I do?’”

He is launching his debut solo album at West London’s Under the Bridge on July 17.

And he’s been getting political too, saying he will back Democrat Hillary Clinton , 67, in the next American elections.

He adds: “I don’t like to get into politics too much – but I support the Clintons, that’s all I’ll say.

“It’s wonderful that you have free healthcare in the UK. So if I needed a doctor or hospital I could just see someone. That’s fantastic.”

Tito will be in London on 25th June for a charity concert.

Tito Jackson will hit the stage at the upcoming Butterfly Ball, along with Lionel Richie and Paul Potts. The prestigious fundraising event will take place on (Tito's brother Michael Jackson sixth death anniversary) Thursday 25 June at Grosvenor House, Park Lane in London. Held every year in aid of children's charity Caudwell Children, the ball is regularly attended by royalty, A-listers and some of the world's most influential business people. Tito, Lionel and Paul will be adding an extra dose of excitement to the night, with the Hello singer promising to entertain guests all night long. Tito said he was "delighted" to join the line-up, and was so impressed by the charity's work. Since its inception, Caudwell Children has provided services worth over £35million and in 2014 alone the national charity helped over 5,500 disabled children from across the UK. This photo was taken in December 1969, when all of us were really too young to understand the impact of what was about to happen. Jackie was 18, I was 16, Jermaine was 15, Marlon was 12 and Michael – who was just magical that day – was 11.

Ed Sullivan was the big variety host of his day, a TV hero, and all the big entertainers of the time went on his show. Every family in America tuned in on Sunday evenings right after dinner, desperate to see the next big musical sensation. Sonny and Cher had been on, the Temptations, the Rolling Stones… and the first time I saw the Beatles was on The Ed Sullivan Show.

At that point we were all fearless, we were just doing what we did, but Jackie, Jermaine and I knew it was the perfect time to show the public what we could do. We knew it could be our big break and that we needed to do an A1 job. Before the show I remember us all going out and picking our outfits at a fashion store called First Equals, and by the day of the show we’d rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed so although we were nervous, once we hit that stage and loosened up we did our job.


Ed Sullivan came out, talked very briefly to us and then we performed three songs – I Want You Back, ABC and The Love You Save – and there were no glitches; at that time we were so polished that we just knew we had to capture the audience. That was our job and the audience loved it, and although we got a lot of promotion from the show we knew that was only the platform to build upon. We understood that there was a lot more work to be done.


There were many more shows to do, to constantly promote and market ourselves, things like American Bandstand and The Carol Burnett Show. We did all of those shows but none of them ever quite matched the excitement or impact of that night at the Ed Sullivan studio in New York. Our performance helped launch our first two singles and we didn’t look back from there.

It has been nearly six years since Michael’s death, and all of us brothers still see a lot of each other. We started touring again a few years back and right now we’re working on a new record and we’re all doing well. It feels great to still be making music 46 years after the picture was taken, and I’m loving sitting back a bit more and enjoying the fans, the travelling, the recording and the performing. It’s all great fun right now.

Tito also did a recorded radio interview with 'Saturday Live' (BBC Radio 4) last Saturday, for the slot 'Inheritance tracks', where interviewees talk about a track they 'inherited' and one that they want to pass on.
Tito selected James Brown singing 'Papa's got a brand new bag' as his 'inherited' track (he said the intro 'electrified' him) , and 'Thank you' by Sly and the Family Stone as the track he would like to pass on.

Tito said that the brothers played a lot of 'James Brown' when they first started, playing at birthdays, weddings and so on, when they were called 'The Jackson Brothers'. He also remembered the J5 opening at the Apollo for James Brown.
Tito said that the brothers also covered 'SATFS' songs eg 'Everyday People.
He added that one of the brothers' performing highlights was playing for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance, and another was being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Tito also mentioned how much fun 3T had with music and he enjoyed their experience of seeing the world, with them.

Good for Tito for finally releasing some solo music, which I imagine will be on the bluesy side. He's the only one of the whole Jackson family to not release a solo record, unless you count that one single "We Made It" from a few years ago. I've been waiting for Tito's album since that single and now it's on the horizon. Can't wait!

Tito recorded an instrumental album when the J5 were still at Motown, but it was never released.
